LiliTaylorLand12412 Lili Taylor And Ron Livingtson Apparate On Wans The Conjuring, Film Could Get A Title Change

Lili Taylor and Ron Livingston have signed on to the new James Wan (Insidious) film for New Line, The Conjuring. They join previously announced Patrick Wilson (Young Adult, Watchmen and Insidious) and Vera Farmiga (The Departed, Orphan).

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor, both actors who cut their teeth in the indie scene, are in negotiations to join Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in New Line’s supernatural thriller formerly known as ‘The Conjuring’. Now under the working title of the Untitled Warren Files Project, the script, written by Chad and Carey Hayes, centers on a a husband and wife team (Wilson, Farmiga) of demonologists and psychic investigators who enter the most horrifying case of their career, spirits in a Rhode Island farmhouse. Livingston and Taylor will play a couple who move with their kids to the farmhouse and begin to be haunted.

Untitled Warren Files Project? Sounds like this whole thing will be getting a new name.

The project is inspired by the true-life story of the Perron family, who claimed they “lived among the dead” in the 1970s as spirits both friendly and sinister inhabited their Rhode Island farmhouse.

The film, “inspired by the supernatural events that happened in the Rhode Island home of the Perron family,” would have the director returning to the realm of domestic haunts. Originally on Summit’s radar, New Line stepped in and bought the pitch when talks fell through. READ MORE

Lionsgate Finally Admits Jigsaw’s Game Will Continue in Eighth ‘Saw’

Lionsgate Finally Admits Jigsaws Game Will Continue in Eighth Saw

Even while Lionsgate was promoting the release of Saw 3D last July-October we’d been hearing internal rumblings that an eighth film would most definitely be happening – at least after the franchise took a much needed short hiatus.

Liongate Vice Chairman Michael Burns recently spoke with CNBC and openly revealed that a new film was in the cards.

I’m sure, some day, you’ll see Saw back in the picture,” Burns said, speaking on the potential return of Jigsaw and his infamous games of life and death.

Other than the upcoming The Hunger Games, Lionsgate doesn’t have any other major franchises (unless you count Tyler Perry’s name). Unless they push hard with You’re Next, doing another Saw is a very smart way to some financial gain.

Saw 3D was far from closure, which is why I personally would like to see another film. What do you say? What do you want to see? READ MORE

James Wan Takes on The Warrens and Their Demons

James WanSaw co-creator and director of Dead Silence, Death Sentence and Insidious – revealed via Twitter that his next film will focus on story of the world’s two most famous paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, both of whom rose to public prominence during the notorious Amityville investigation.

Via Wiki: “The Warrens founded the New England Society for Psychic Research in 1952 and later opened the Occult Museum. They are the authors of numerous books about the paranormal and their own private investigations into various hauntings. They claimed to have investigated over 10,000 hauntings during their career, and as previously stated he Warrens were among the very first investigators in the controversial Amityville haunting.

The Warrens were responsible for training several current paranormal investigating demonologists including Dave Considine, the late Lou Gentile, and their nephew John Zaffis.

I watch/read a lot of scary stories. But fuck, ‘The Demonologist’, true life account of Ed & Lorraine Warren, is the scariest book I’ve read,” said Wan. READ MORE

Sony Pictures Planning ‘Insidious’ Sequel

 Sony Pictures Planning Insidious Sequel

We’ve been nudging everyone involved in FilmDistrict’s smash hit Insidious about a sequel since the movie kicked the boxoffice’s ass back in April. Even though everyone involved appears a bit hesitant to acknowledge sequel potential, Sony Pictures – who scored worldwide rights out of the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2010 – is planning ahead.

According to Fusible, Sony has nabbed the following domain names: Insidious2movie.com, Insidious2.net and Insidious2-movie.net.

A few months back STYD had talked with producer Jason Blum who explained: “There’s no plan, no release date, nothing like that. I think James feels the same as Oren [Peli]. Oren was very skeptical about doing a sequel to Paranormal Activity until Michael [Perry] pitched an idea and it made sense. If Leigh comes up with a story that’s inventive and you feel like there’s a story to tell – as opposed to ‘let’s make another movie and make money’ – and he comes up with something James feels is worth making we would do it. And if Leigh doesn’t, we won’t.

I wonder if Sony can move ahead on the project without their involvement? They did make both direct-to-video titles Hostel 3 and Quarantine 2.

In the first, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Renai (Rose Byrne) make the terrifying discovery that the body of their comatose boy has become a magnet for malevolent entities, while his consciousness lies trapped in the dark and insidious realm known as The Further. READ MORE

Blu-ray Review: ‘Insidious’

Insidious seems like the natural next step for James Wan and Leigh Whannell. Saw was an interesting concept horribly executed (it took them seven films to “explain” stuff and even then, many people were left unsatisfied), Dead Silence made great use of its Hammer-like atmosphere and creepy subject matter but was marred by bad acting and plot holes, and Death Sentence was a pretty standard revenge thriller that showed the duo could get good performances out of their actors. Insidious is the duo’s most accomplished work to date – showing improvement in several of the aforementioned areas – and a blast to watch with your speakers turned all the way up, even if it loses much of its steam in the third act.

James Wan In Talks For ‘The Conjuring’

Coming off of the mega-hit Insidious and an eight-picture deal with Icon Entertainment Intl. that will have him producing low-budget horror flicks, James Wan is in final talks to direct The Conjuring for New Line.

The film, “inspired by the supernatural events that happened in the Rhode Island home of the Perron family,” would have the director returning to the realm of domestic haunts. Originally on Summit’s radar, New Line stepped in and bought the pitch when talks fell through. There’s no word on whether or not Wan would work on Spectre – potentially starring Nicole Kidman – before The Conjuring.

Wan is also the co-creator of the Saw franchise.

Game Not Over: Could ‘Saw’ Creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell Return to Franchise?

Last October Lionsgate swore up and down that they were releasing Jigsaw’s final game in Saw 3D. With that, and to the dismay of some fans, the finale didn’t quite close the door, and left things wide open.

Over the years, franchise creators James Wan (director) and Leigh Whannell (writer/star) have been extremely open about their desires to return to the games they created back in 2004. In fact, Wan has stated that the first film was only 30% what he envisioned (budget and time affected it).

With the release of Insidious, Wan and Whannell spoke with IGN about their desire to end the game “right”, so to speak.

And before I send you off to watch the video, did anybody else notice the Billy (the puppet) drawing in the background of the classroom in the duo’s Insidious? Yup, it’s there and rocks a drawing of a #8 underneath. Food for thought.
