[Interview] Director Matt Orlando And Producer Jamie Kennedy Dig Up ‘A Resurrection’!

Archstone Distribution’s A Resurrection (formerly The Sibling) hits theaters tomorrow March 22nd. The film stars Mischa Barton, Final Destination‘s Devon Sawa, Jonathan Michael Trautman and the late Michael Clarke Duncan (this is actually the last film he shot).

In the film, “A down to earth school psychologist tries to help a mentally ill student who actually believes his brother is coming back from the grave for revenge on the students who killed him.”

A Resurrection was written and directed by Matt Orlando and produced by Jamie Kennedy‘s new company, Jamie Kennedy Entertainment. To that end, I hopped on the phone with Orlando and Kennedy earlier in the week to find out how they came to team up on the project. Orlando also discussed casting Mischa Barton in a more mature role, working with Michael Clarke Duncan and his next team-up with Kennedy – a “surf horror” movie called Red Water.

[This Day In Horror] Wes Craven Makes Audiences ‘Scream’!

That was the day Wes Craven’s groundbreaking Scream grabbed the attention of every teen across the Nation. By the end of its 19-week theatrical run, and an eventually re-release, Dimension Films’ slasher raked in a disgusting $100 million (it also made an estimates $70 million internationally).

Penned by Kevin Williamson, Scream featured the young, hip cast of David Arquette, Drew Barrymore, Lisa Beach, David Booth, W. Earl Brown, Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, Skeet Ulrich, Rose McGowan, Matthew Lillard and Jamie Kennedy. It has since swamped three sequels and a forthcoming rumored television series.

In the film that supposedly used 50 gallons of blood, “A killer known as Ghostface begins killing off teenagers, and as the body count begins rising, one girl and her friends find themselves contemplating the “Rules” of horror films as they find themselves living in a real-life one.”

The script was originally titled “Scary Movie,” which provided the jump point for the Wayans’ spoof franchise.

On November 30th, Anchor Bay Films presents Silent Night on screens in ten major U.S. metropolitan areas. That following tuesday, December 4th, the Blu-ray/DVD combo and DVD will be available to unwrap nationwide.

The first clip has been released that walks star Jaime King into the bloody aftermath of our killer Santa Claus.

The film, directed by Steven C. Miller (Automaton Transfusion, Under the Bed, The Aggression Scale), is a loose remake of the horror classic Silent Night, Deadly Night. As first shared by our friends at Dread Central yesterday, we’ve now landed three new stills from Steven C. Miller’s Silent Night, their “loose remake” of Charles E. Sellier Jr.’s 1984 classic Silent Night, Deadly Night that’s now in post-production for a holiday release via Anchor Bay.

In the images we get our first clean look at our killer Santa, played by Rick Skene, telling a priest how naughty he’s been, along with some hotties in Santa’s helpers costumes.

The below poster displays the slashing Santa, played by Rick Skene, with a flamethrower, an axe and what appears to be a “mask”. The idea that the Santa wears a Santa mask it actually pretty genius.

The slashing begins on a snowy Christmas Eve in Cryer, WI. The normally quiet town is bustling with activity as the the residents are getting ready for the big day. The events take place around the towns annual Santa Parade, which has brought a record number of Santas to town. Deputy Sheriff Aubrey Bradimore (King) is stuck reluctantly working the night shift, dealing with all of the drunken Santas, road closures, and stressed out locals — but things are about to take a deadly turn. A vicious serial killer, dressed as Santa Claus, has made his own “naughty list” and anyone on it is in big trouble. As the body count rises, Aubrey races to discover the killer’s true identity – but in a town full of Santas, shady characters and dark secrets, finding the real murderer will take more then a Christmas miracle.
