[Review] The Elkcloner ‘The Elkcloner’

 [Review] The Elkcloner The Elkcloner
The Elkcloner is the brainchild of Serbian/New York composer Filip Mitrovic, who co-scored Resident Evil: Afterlife as well as The Echo and Sleep Dealer. With this self-titled debut album, Mitrovic has put out an album that tackles multiple genres using only live recordings, no samples whatsoever. Also featured on the album is Rose Colella, a Chicago-based jazz vocalist. Do all these components work in application or would it have been better left on paper?

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 23

orphicoxtrascreencap Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 23

It’s Friday, so you know what that means! It’s time for another edition of Twisted Music Video Of The Week! For this week’s selection, we’re turning to Orphic Oxtra‘s Skeletons Having Sex On A Tin Roof. Now, it’s not necessarily a twisted video, but if you don’t ask yourself, “What the hell is going on?” at least once, then you are a crazier person than myself.

The two top YouTube comments on this video pretty much sum up the mood perfectly: “I’ve hit the weird part of youtube again.” and “I made sure to link this to somebody so I don’t die in seven days.
Check out the weirdness below!

Album Review: Alex Skolnick Trio ‘Veritas’

Alex Skolnick is most well known for his work in the legendary thrash metal band Testament. However, those who pay some attention to his work know that he is an amazingly versatile guitarist with an almost god given skill at guitar. So when I received a copy of ‘Veritas’, the latest from his Alex Skolnick Trio project, I was cautiously optimistic. So how does this metal guitar giant perform on ‘Veritas’? Find out after the jump!

Alex Skolnick Trio Releasing ‘Veritas’

Alex Skolnick, guitarist of Testament, will be releasing ‘Veritas’, his fourth studio album with his other project, The Alex Skolnick Trio. The jazz album is due for release on March 29th and will have nine original compositions, a cover of Metallica’s ‘Fade To Black’ and a bonus remix of ‘Bollywood Jam’. I ran into Alex for a brief moment at the American Carnage Tour and he was one cool guy. Plus, he plays guitars that are made only a couple of hours from my home (Heritage Guitars), so he’s a winner in my book.
You can keep up-to-date with Alex at his official website.
