Man, there are times when Lionsgate’s marketing department literally blows my mind with how incredible they are. Such the case with this remarkable The Hunger Games: Catching Fire one-sheet and banner, depicting Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) standing tall and strong on a cliff. I love the classic “Mona Lisa”-esque painting look it was given, too. The poster was accompanied by the quote: “The sun persists in rising, so I make myself stand.”

Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will again feature the great Elizabeth Banks in her role as Effie Trinkett. I like Banks a lot, so I’m hoping she has more to do this time. Update: We’ve added a poster of Stanley Tucci as the host of the games, Caesar. Apparently they’re starting with the purple-haired characters first.

Sucker Punch and Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire‘s Jena Malone, pictured right, is stepping into the lead to tangle with seductive specters in Victorian England.
Deadline reports that Mitchell Lichtenstein (Teeth, Happy Tears) is directing Angelica, a psychological thriller set in 1880s London based on the novel of the same name by bestselling author Arthur Phillips (Prague, The Egyptologist).
“Malone will play Constance, a young shop girl who falls for and marries Dr. Joseph Barton. After the difficult childbirth of their daughter Angelica, doctor-ordered celibacy creates a rift in the Bartons’ marriage and a ghostly force enters their home.” Phillips’ 2007 novel “Angelica” unfolded its sexually-charged supernatural mystery from multiple perspectives.
Joyce Pierpoline is producing for Pierpoline Films along with Richard Lormand.

EW has landed three new looks inside Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, directed by Francis Lawrence for release on November 22, 2013.
With the images accompanied a cover story in which Lawrence revealed that Bonnie, Twill, and Darius will not make it into the sequel. On how the movie will now introduce District 13, Lawrence would only say that “it was fun figuring out new ways around things and new ways of doing things.”
“It’s as agonizing for us to lose things from the book as it is for a fan,” says producer Nina Jacobson. “I want every single thing in there. But you know what? Hot off winning two Emmys for writing and co-exec producing HBO’s “Game Change,” Danny Strong has been tapped to write the two-part Hunger Games sequel Mockingjay for Lionsgate, Variety first reported.
The first pic is skedded for release on November 21, 2014, while the second will open on November 20, 2015.

Described as “charismatic” and “clever,” Finnick — from District 4 — won the Hunger Games when he was 14. In theaters November 22, 2013 from Lionsgate and director Francis Lawrence, the sequel continues the story of Katniss Everdeen and the fictional, futuristic nation of Panem. Entertainment Weekly will premiere four covers (below) featuring the cast of AMC’s “The Walking Dead“ Season 3. Subscribers will receive Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Michonne (Danai Gurira), the Governor (David Morrissey) or Dixon brothers (Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker). Comic creator Robert Kirkman tells the mag: “This season really is about setting up these two worlds and watching them come to a head and collide. And you know that there are going to be some pretty explosive encounters between Rick and the Governor. This season is going to be about getting to know these two characters, and then waiting for their eventual confrontation that could destroy everything.” The zombie apocalypse resumes October 14 on AMC.
Weyland Investors has Blu-ray art for both U.S. and Hungarian releases of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus. In stores October 11, the home video release of the Alien prequel will be jam-packed with extra features. Watch for an official announcement as it comes in.

As the cameras get set to roll on Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, THR writes that Maria Howell (The Color Purple, The Blind Side, “The Vampire Diaries”) has been cast as Seeder, a former victor from District 11.
Atlanta-based Howell’s character will compete in the 75th annual Hunger Games, also known as the Quarter Quell.

Meta Golding (“CSI,” “Criminal Minds,” “House,” “Cold Case”) has been cast in Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in the role of Enobaria, a former winner of the Hunger Games, reports Variety.

Last week there were reports that Jena Malone (pictured above; Sucker Punch, The Ruins) was in the running for the pivotal role of strong-willed tribute Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and now it’s been confirmed despite some last minute reporting to the contrary.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, “Malone has the offer and is in early negotiations for the part, according to sources. The move nixes premature reports that pegged newbie actress-model Zoe Aggeliki as the front-runner to play the ax-wielding former Hunger Games winner from District 7.” The character is described in author Suzanne Collins’ bestseller as possessing “a wicked ability to murder,” winning her Hunger Games by pretending to be weak and then picking off the other tributes.
As previously reported, Francis Lawrence will be taking the directing reigns from Gary Ross on the sequel. It starts filming in late September and is due in theaters November 22nd, 2013.

The character is described in author Suzanne Collins’ bestseller as possessing “a wicked ability to murder,” winning her Hunger Games by pretending to be weak and then picking off the other tributes. One open question about the character is whether director Francis Lawrence will keep Johanna’s introduction from the book, in which she first meets heroine Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) naked — save for her green slippers. In addition, EW also confirmed that, despite an earlier report, Mia Wasikowska has not been approached for the role of Johanna Mason, nor would be available to shoot the film.
The producers of the 2009 mega-flop Transylmania have been sued for allegedly failing to repay nearly $22M obtained in financing for the film, says Deadline. Third Eye Capital filed the suit (read it here) today in LA Superior Court alleging fraud and breach of contract. According to the suit, producers Scott and David Hillenbrand perpetrated a fraudulent scheme to obtain the financing, failed to repay the money and used much of it for personal expenses. The film was branded a vampire spoof based on the popular Twilight franchise and HBO’s “True Blood,” but had no relation to either, according to the suit. Hill & Brand Productions, Hill & Brand Entertainment, among others, are named in the complaint.

The film is a stunning horror thriller, that follows four American friends on vacation in Cancún, Mexico—Jeff, Amy, Eric and Stacy—who meet a German tourist, Mathias, and persuades them to join his hunt for his younger brother, Henrich, last seen headed off with a new girlfriend toward some ruins. The four soon regret their impulsive decision after they find themselves lost in the jungle and freaked out by signs that they’re headed for danger.
