Character Posters And Banners For ‘Frankenweenie’ And ‘Total Recall’

The boys over at Empire have landed another five character posters for Tim BUrton’s upcoming Frankenweenie, this time featuring Martin short as Mayor Burgemeister and Nassor, Burton veteran and general legend Martin Landau as Mr. Rzykruski, Catherine O’Hara as Weird Girl, and Atticus Shaffer as Edgar “E” Gore. You can see all the posters below, but can read about them by clicking the aforementioned link. In theaters October 5, “After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.

Also, via website Heart Attack, comes a trio of Taiwan banners for Columbia Pictures’ Total Recall, the Len Wiseman-directed remake in theaters August 3. “Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) – there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

[News Bites] Lo-Res ‘The Hypnotist’ Trailer, ‘Self Storage’ Imagery, And Another Look At ‘Hitchcock’

The official Facebook page for Self Storage has been updated with a few behind-the-scenes pics and the news that Eliza Robert will now star alongside Eric Roberts, Michael Berryman, Jonathan Silverman and Tommy DeNucci in the Tom DeNucci-directed horror pic. “‘Self Storage’ tells the story of Jake, the night watchman working at a highly-secured self-storage facility. His pals are home from college and looking to party. Jake decides to invite them to his work and throw a fiesta of his own. Innocent mischief turns a naughty night of sex, drugs and rock & roll into an evening of pure terror. Barbed wire fences are meant to keep people out, but these fences keep people in.

While it’s unfortunately not in English, and horribly pixelated, you can get a first look at Lasse Hallstrom’s The Hypnotist in the following international trailer. “In the novel, Detective Linna investigates a grisly triple homicide where the only survivor, a young boy, is too traumatized to testify. Linna convinces a famous psychologist, against his better judgment, to hypnotize the boy, setting off a terrifying chain of events.” Mikael Persbrandt, Lena Olin and Tobias Zilliacus all star. Watch for distro news as it comes in.

Below we’ve also added a new look at Anthony Hopkins as Alfred Hitchcock in Fox Searchlight’s now filming Hitchcock, which also stars Helen Mirren, Scarlett Johansson, James D’Arcy, Jessica Biel, Toni Collette, Danny Huston, Michael Stuhlbarg, Michael Wincott and Wallace Langham. Directed by Sacha Gervasi, the project is based on the non-fiction book by Stephen Rebello that tracks how Hitchcock, at the height of his game as a director, decided to make a “lowly” horror movie (Psycho). No studio wanted to touch it initially, so Hitchcock scrounged for financing by himself. The movie, of course, became one of his biggest hits and one of the most influential of all time.

Sexier, Better ‘Total Recall’ Fight: Schwarzenegger Vs. Stone (1990) Or Farrell Vs. Beckinsale (2012)?

When Columbia Pictures releases Len Wiseman’s Total Recall, in theaters August 3, a lot of us will be shocked at how similar it is to Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 adaptation of “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. Thus far nothing says otherwise.

The studio just now released a third clip from the film that mirrors a classic fight sequence from the initial sci-fi epic, which begs the following questions: which fight scene is better, and who would you rather have kick your ass?

Below we’ve added both the fight between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone in the 1990 version, alongside the scuffle between Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale in the reboot. Personally, I’d rather have Beckinsale jumping in my face. You?

In the remake, “Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. Cranston And Beckinsale Go Baddie In Third ‘Total Recall’ Clip

As many of you know, I’m not against remakes. To me, a good movie is a good movie, it’s as simple as that. With Columbia Pictures’s remake of Total Recall on the horizon, we’ve been provided with a third clip that sort of continues to rub me the wrong way. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it looks bad, it just looks, the same? If you’re going to remake something, it should be it’s own vision instead of some off-beat resemblance of a classic (see 2004′s Dawn of the Dead). I guess we’ll know more on August 3, but until then here’s a clip featuring the baddies played by Bryan Cranston and Kate Beckinsale.

Len Wiseman directs the reboot, “Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. [News Bites] ‘Total Recall’ Shootout; Asian Gay Zombie Movie; And ‘Snow Piercer’ Wraps

Screen Daily reports that Bong Joon-ho (The Host) has wrapped shooting what looks to be Korea’s most expensive film to date, Snow Piercer. According to investor/distributor CJ E&M, the shoot wrapped over the weekend in Prague and Bong will finish post-production in Korea. They aim to release the sci-fi thriller next year, although specific dates are still in the works. Budgeted at roughly $39.2m (KW45bn), Snow Piercer will be Korea’s most expensive film by far. Kang Je-gyu’s war movie My Way currently holds the record with a $24.5m (KW28bn) budget. Based on the French graphic novel “Le Transperceneige,” the film is about the microcosm of human society surviving on a train that goes around in a snow-covered, post-apocalyptic world. The film was shot entirely on location in the Czech Republic, except for a day’s shoot in Austria for some scenery. Park Chan-wook is producing with his company Moho Film. Snow Piercer features a multi-national cast with Captain America star Chris Evans in the lead. He is joined by Song Kang-ho, who previously worked with Bong on The Host, John Hurt, Ed Harris, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, Jamie Bell and Ewen Bremner.

German sales outfit Raspberry & Cream has picked up Asian horror title Remington And The Curse of the Zombadings, a gay zombie film from the Philippines, says THR. Raspberry & Cream will handle world-wide sales on the title, a low-brow comedy about the homophobic Remington who is cast under a spell and becomes gay himself. The film has proved a box office hit on its home turf, earning close to $1 million with 250,000 admissions, making it one of the most successful indie features ever in the Philippines. Director Jade Castro also produced Remington through the Manila-based writer/producer collectives ufo Pictures and Orgin8 Media. Star Mart Escudero won the Golden Screen Award, the Pilipino equivalent of the Oscar, for best actor in a musical or comedy for his performance.

Lastly, below we’ve added a second clip from Len Wiseman’s Total Recall remake, in theaters August 3, that pits Colin Farrell and Jessica Biel in a shootout against Kate Beckinsale and her Imperial troopers (seriously, does it not look like a scene out of Star Wars?) READ MORE

[San Diego Comic-Con '12] Watch A Nauseatingly Overcomplex Scene From ‘Total Recall’

I think Len Wiseman is a poor director who makes overly complex sequences and completely negates good story structure and character development. In short, he can make things look cool, but they’re still boring. That’s talent. Such is the case with the first ever clip from Columbia Pictures’ Total Recall, which just premiered on Yahoo!. It displays Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell) about to enter ReKall when the police arrive and disrupt the process. The camera then goes on a blitz more nauseating than Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride. Enjoy.

Total Recall, in theaters August 3, is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. “Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. A Trio Of Incredibly Boring International Posters For ‘The Tall Man’

The other day we exclusively premiered the one-sheet for The Tall Man, now we’ve landed three international posters out of France (where it’s titled The Secret), along with a new still featuring Silent Hill‘s Jodelle Ferland.

Arriving in theaters August 31 from Image Entertainment, the trailer features star Jessica Biel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blade: Trinity, Total Recall) and the legend of “The Tall Man”. The footage is edited together incredibly “dramatic”, which I find interesting. I’ve heard it’s not incredibly violent like Martyrs.

Directed by Pascal Laugier of Martyrs fame, “In an isolated, slowly dying mining town, children are vanishing without a trace – abducted, the townsfolk whisper, by a mysterious entity known locally as “The Tall Man.” Town nurse Julia Denning (Biel) seems skeptical…until her young David disappears in the middle of night. Frantic to rescue the boy, Julia lives every parent’s darkest nightmare in this twisting, shock-around-each-corner thriller from acclaimed director Pascal Laugier.” Stephen McHattie (Pontypool, Watchmen), William B. Davis and Samantha Ferris also star.

New Trailer For ‘Total Recall’ Finds A Way To Make Having Three Breasts Look Boring

So far the only interesting thing about Columbia Pictures’ Len Wiseman (Underworld) directed Total Recall are those viral “Rekall” posters. Those are pretty cool. But I’m actually glad they came out after we’d seen some footage from the movie because they might have raised my expectations somewhat. As it stands – and this includes the new trailer posted below – everything I’ve seen is so bland. Sure, there’s a bunch of stuff flying around onscreen, but I literally can’t think of a movie that embodies the way remakes neuter their source material more than this one seems to. It also needlessy recycles the line, “If I’m not me, who the hell am I?

Which is a shame. I actually really like most of the talent involved in this, it’s not like I want to dislike this movie. Here’s hoping we’ll be pleasantly surprised when the movie comes out in a little over a month. And hey! At least it has the three mammary glanded woman!

New ‘Total Recall’ Stills Continue To Make An Iffy Impression

Total Recall Header 51412 New Total Recall Stills Continue To Make An Iffy Impression

So far everything we’ve seen from Columbia Pictures’ Len Wiseman (Underworld) directed Total Recall continues to remain consistent with my early thoughts that it looks okay, but doesn’t have the arch sense of irony or inventiveness that the 1990 Paul Verhoeven original had. These new stills continue that trend. It just looks polished, monochromatic and flat. Not necessarily bad, but not necessarily my thing either. Still, hard not to like Jessica Biel in the Rachel Ticotin part.

In theaters August 3, “ ‘Total Recall’ is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale” by Philip K. Dick. New ‘Total Recall’ Still Keeps The Updated Look Intact

Two “new” stills for Columbia Pictures’ Len Wiseman (Underworld) directed Total Recall have landed at Entertainment Weekly, although one of them isn’t so much new as it is an onset still of an image already heavily used in the trailer (Farrell in the Rekall machine). The new still features Colin Farrell’s Quaid stuck in a wrist strap and firing at an unknown assailant (presumably after taking out the known assailant behind him). It very much plays up the “gritty, futuristic” action angle of the remake with not much of the satirical flair of Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 film.

Total Recall Video Implants Behind The Scenes Action, Interviews With Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel And Kate Beckinsale

This past weekend saw the release of the trailer for Len Wiseman’s Total Recall remake. I wasn’t really all that stoked but a lot of you guys seemed to dig it. If you’re still excited for this thing then you’ll definitely want to check out this video featuring all kinds of interviews and behind the scenes action on the set of the film. It’s worth noting that Jessica Biel says this is more influenced by the Philip K. Dick book than the 1990 Paul Verhoeven film. I’m not sure where she’s getting that from since it seems like a beat for beat remake of the film only with a lot of the fun (and Mars) taken out.

In the remake, “Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. The ‘Total Recall’ Trailer Is Here, But Forgot To Bring The Fun

The Total Recall Trailer Is Here, But Forgot To Bring The Fun

The trailer for Len Wiseman’s highly anticipated remake of Total Recall has landed. Of course it’s up to everyone to make up their own mind on this, but it looks to have completely dropped the fun and satirical edge that the brilliant 1990 film had. I suppose the movie could still actually be good, but I never really had my hopes super up for this one and nothing has changed now that the trailer’s here. It just looks so rote and flat. I also can’t really buy John Cho in that role. More importantly though, what do you think?
