Wolf Creek 2

While seeking an authentic Australian adventure, one unlucky backpacker learns the deepest, darkest secrets of the Outback’s most infamous serial killer.

Lured by the promise of an Australian holiday, backpackers Rutger, Katarina, and Paul visit the notorious Wolf Creek Crater. Their dream Outback adventure soon becomes a horrific reality when they encounter the site’s most infamous local, the last man any traveler to the region ever wants to meet; Mick Taylor (John Jarratt).

As the backpackers flee, Mick pursues them on an epic white knuckled rampage across hostile wasteland. Only one will remain to be dragged back to his lair to witness the true magnitude of his monstrosity. And if the last man standing is to have any hope of surviving where no one else has survived before, he’ll have to use every ounce of cunning to outwit the man behind the monster and become every bit as ruthless as the monster inside the man.

‘Wolf Creek 2′ Poster Steals Everything From ‘Evil Dead’

The new sales art for Gregg McLean’s Wolf Creek 2, starring John Jarratt, Ryan Corr, Shannon Ashlyn and Philipe Klaus, literally steals its look from the Evil Dead one-sheets. It’s actually kind of annoying how unoriginal it is. Hopefully the movie brings more creativity…

First Look At ‘Wolf Creek 2′; More Psychological Terror, Less Gore…

Bloody regular ‘Fear Has No Cure’ tipped us off to Australian website The Age, which has your first look at actor John Jarratt (left) as psychopath Mick Taylor with director Greg Mclean on the set of Wolf Creek 2 in South Australia. The pic is accompanied by a lengthy report from the set of the sequel that begins while seeking an authentic Australian adventure, one unlucky backpacker learns the deepest, darkest secrets of the Outback’s most infamous serial killer.

In explaining what took so long to get a sequel to the 2007 Sundance Film Festival smash hit off the ground, McLean Mclean says he did not want to be rushed into “a cheesy sequel,” but nor did he expect the gap between films to stretch quite this far. “If I’d known then what I know now about how long it would take to get this up, I’d probably have said yes to a sequel earlier.

I’m not really interested in gore and blood and stuff,” adds the Melbourne-based director, whose second feature, the $25 million crocodile film Rogue, might suggest otherwise. “I’m interested in why the character connected with Australian audiences. It’s not about being a horror film – it’s because Mick is about something else, something deep and dark in the Australian psyche.

This is great news as the worst sequels aim too high on the gore and forget about the characters. Mick Taylor is a fantastic villain, and letting him deliver the suspense is right way to go. Personally, I can’t wait for this slasher to hit the festival scene next year. READ MORE

‘Wolf Creek 2′ In Flux As Investor Backs Out…

Wolf Creek 2 In Flux As Investor Backs Out...

While production was rumored to kick off early 2012, it looks like Gregg McLean’s long-gestured Wolf Creek 2 will once again be seeking out investors.

Geoffrey Edelsten has launched legal action over his $5 million investment in the sequel to Aussie horror flick Wolf Creek, reports the Herald Sun. In documents filed in the Supreme Court this week, Mr Edelsten has flagged his intention to have rescinded the investment deed he signed for the sequel. He says he would never have invested $5 million had he known he was “by far and away” the biggest single private investor. The film has a $13.2 million budget.

Mr Edelsten says in an affidavit that only $300,000 of this was from other private investors, the balance coming from government grants.

He says the amount coming from government agencies was not mentioned in his first meeting with the film’s director, and government support did not provide him with the “same comfort” as private investors.

Emu Creek Pictures, of which Greg McLean is a director, sent Millennium Management, of which Mr Edelsten is director, a statutory demand last month for payment of $4.923 million.

Millennium has now taken action against Emu Creek and is asking the Supreme Court to set aside the statutory demand. READ MORE

Rogue (V)

Greg McLean’s first acclaimed tour de force, “Wolf Creek,” took audiences on a frightening, fact based road trip through the darkest parts of Australian Outback and the depraved human mind. Journeying home again, this time to the crocodile infested waters of Australia’s remote wetlands, the director’s wildlife boat tour is more down-under “Jaws” than “Crocodile Dundee.” Joining a beautiful local tour guide (Radha Mitchell) and an American writer on assignment (Michael Vartan), the rest of this thriller’s food chain is composed of tourists and adventure seekers alike. Waiting in vain to be rescued on an ever-disappearing parcel of dry land, you will never guess their next move…as terror lies just beneath the surface.

Wolf Creek

Greg McLean’s film, which was made for less than $2 million, centers on a group of backpackers who have a run in with a loopy stranger, played by John Jarratt. It was supposed to be the vacation of a lifetime in the Australian Outback – full of fun, sun and adventure. But what happened to a trio of twenty-something backpackers took a wrenching detour into the depths of unrelenting terror.
