Based on the supposedly true story of a group of Canadian hippie scientists in the 1970s who attempt to create a ghost.

Official: The Quiet Ones (inspired by true events) tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Based on the theory that paranormal activity is caused by human negative energy, the rogue scientists perform a series of tests on a young patient, pushing her to the edge of sanity. As frightening occurrences begin to take place with shocking and gruesome consequences, the group quickly realizes they have triggered a force more terrifying than they ever could have imagined.

Alex Walton, Exclusive Media’s President of International Sales and Distribution, announced today that major sales have been completed on the recently wrapped Hammer supernatural thriller The Quiet Ones, starring Jared Harris (“Mad Men”) and Sam Claflin (Hunger Games: Catching Fire).

Lionsgate has picked up UK distribution rights to the film. Exclusive has also signed deals with EEAP for Eastern Europe and CIS, Independent for Benelux, Ascot Elite for Switzerland, CDC for Latin America, CCC for Japan, Nu Metro for South Africa and Front Row for the Middle East. In addition, other territory deals for the film include Deltamac for Hong Kong, Tanweer for India and Pakistan, , D Productions for Turkey, Village Roadshow for Greece, Sam Films for Iceland, United King for Israel, PT Amero for Indonesia, Lotus Five Star for Malaysia, M Pictures for Thailand, Pioneer for Philippines and Star TV for SE Asia. The U.S. is soon to follow!

Written and directed by Quarantine 2‘s John Pogue, “The Quiet Ones is inspired by true events and tells the story of an unorthodox, but charismatic professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist from negative human energy.”

Hammer brought their new film, The Quiet Ones, to the American Film Market today in Santa Monica. It stars Jared Harris, Sam Claflin, Erin Richards, Olivia Cooke and Rory Fleck-Byrne also star. The horror pic shot in Oxfordshire.

Directed by John Pogue and inspired by true events, “‘The Quiet Ones’ tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Based on the theory that paranormal activity is caused by human negative energy, the rogue scientists perform a series of tests on a young patient, pushing her to the edge of sanity. As frightening occurrences begin to take place with shocking and gruesome consequences, the group quickly realizes they have triggered a force more terrifying than they ever could have imagined.”

The Quiet Ones marks Hammer’s next production after the worldwide box office hit, The Woman in Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe, which has taken over $130 million at the box-office worldwide to date.

Michael Sheen Offered Lead In Hammer Films The Quiet Ones

Bloody Disgusting is hearing that Michael Sheen (Underworld, Underworld: Evolution, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) has been offered the lead role in Exclusive Media’s The Quiet Ones, Hammer Films’ next project following up on the boxoffice success of The Woman in Black. In a quick update, we’ve also heard Damien Lewis (Dreamcatcher) has also been offered a role, but we’re unsure if it’s for the same role.

We also exclusively reported back in November that John Pogue – who made his directorial debut on Sony’s direct-to-disc Quarantine 2: Terminal – is set to direct from his own screenplay.

The film is based on a supposedly true story about a team of Cambridge academics in the 1970′s who record their investigation as they attempt to exorcise a poltergeist from a young girl.

Bloody Disgusting is receiving exclusive Intel that John Pogue – who made his directorial debut on Sony’s direct-to-disc Quarantine 2: Terminal – is now set to direct Hammer Films’ The Quiet Ones for Exclusive Media Group.

Also penned by Pogue, the film is based on a supposedly true story about a team of Cambridge academics in the 1970′s who record their investigation as they attempt to exorcise a poltergeist from a young girl.

We’re also being told that as offer has been made to Nicolas Cage for the lead role of “Joseph”, leader of a project known as “Gesit” (a German word for mind, spirit, or ghost, covering the semantic field of these three English nouns). Antti Jokinen was originally attached to direct. READ MORE

A sequel to the box office success Quarantine, Screen Gems’ remake of the Spanish horror film [REC] heads into an airport.

In QUARANTINE, an apartment building in Los Angeles was quarantined by the CDC (Center for Disease Control), trapping the frightened residents inside as a deadly mutant virus turned the residents into rabid killers. QUARANTINE 2: TERMINAL picks up later that night at LAX, as passengers board a flight to Nashville. When a passenger becomes violently ill with a mysterious rabies-like virus, the plane makes an emergency landing at a large metropolitan airport. Jenny (Mercedes Masohn, CBS’s “Three Rivers“), a heroic yet inexperienced flight attendant, takes charge of the safety of her passengers. Relieved when a swarm of heavily equipped emergency vehicles, police units and the CDC arrive, Jenny and the passengers soon discover that they have been quarantined and are now trapped. Desperate to escape, Jenny enlists the help of one of the surviving passengers, a kindergarten teacher, Henry (Josh Cooke, A Fork In The Road, I Love you Man), to devise a plan to survive.
