The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

Set in modern-day New York, the plot centers on Clary Fray (Collins), who discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret tribe of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect the world from demons.

Official: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…

[TV] NBC’s “Dracula” Unveiled! Several Looks At The Show!

NBC’s upcoming “Dracula” has unveiled several looks at the show (via EW) all of whom feature Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the titular character. Looks alright I guess in the sense that it looks like a high budget TV show. We’ll know more soon, I hope!

The series, which bypassed the traditional pilot stage, takes place in the 1890s and finds Dracula (“The Tudors’” Jonathan Rhys Meyers) living a double life in London as an American businessman interested in bringing modern science to Victorian society. But his true plan — to exact revenge on those who burdened him centuries ago — is derailed when he falls in love with Mina (“Arrow”‘s Jessica DeGouw), who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife. Van Helsing (Thomas Kretschmann) is a brilliant professor obsessed with revenge and power. He may be a greater threat to the public than the titular count. Katie McGrath and Nonso Anozie also star.

“Dracula,” a co-production from British Sky Broadcasting, Carnival Films & Television, Flame Ventures and NBCUniversal, hails from Tony Krantz (“24,” “Sports Night”) and former HBO Films president Colin Callender and writer-creator Cole Haddon (who will co-exec produce).

NBC plans to air Dracula in the fall of 2013. Head inside for the pics! READ MORE

[Interview] Talking ’6 Souls’ And Julianne Moore With Screenwriter Michael Cooney

The Julianne Moore starring 6 Souls (formerly Shelter), arrives on VOD Today March 1st before hitting limited theaters April 5. Directed by Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein and co-starring Jonathan Rhys Myers, I found the film to be a fun throwback to those very “adult approved” early 90′s horror/thrillers. That’s not meant as a dig at all, it’s just a very specific type of movie and it does what it does well.

In the film, “After the death of her husband, Dr. Cara Harding’s (Julianne Moore) faith in God has been shaken, but not her belief in science. In an attempt to open her up to accepting unexplainable psychiatric theories, her father introduces her to Adam, a patient with multiple personalities who takes on some of the physical characteristics of his other personalities. But, Cara quickly discovers that Adam’s other personalities are murder victims and the more she finds out about him and his past, the closer she and her loved ones are to becoming murder victims themselves.

I recently interviewed screenwriter Michael Cooney (Identity) and we discussed the genesis of the film, his take on Marlind & Stein’s unique directing process and his next project, In The Dark. Head inside to check it out! READ MORE

See Bane Without His Pants In This Behind-The-Scenes Video From ‘Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones’

If you’re looking forward to Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, then perhaps you know who Magnus Bane is. I have no idea, personally, aside from the fact that he’s played by Godfrey Gao. Anyway, MTV caught up with Gao on the set and the rest, as they say, is some middling promo material.

Directed by Harald Zwart for Sony Screen Gems, “Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures.

With a somewhat decent trailer, I’m curious to see if Mortal Instruments: City of Bones fits out criteria for coverage. We’ll see soon enough! In the meantime, here’s a pic of Jemima West all tatted up as her character, Isabelle.

Trailer For ‘Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones’ Skirts The Horror Line

Well, Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, certainly looks like a more horror-centric take on the post Harry Potter YA studio movie. The new trailer from MTV actually looks alright to me, not necessarily my thing but I’d probably be fine with seeing it.
