Exclusive Clip From ‘The Collection’ Blu-ray Takes A Look At The Film’s Practical Effects!

The Collection arrives on Blu-ray Disc, DVD, Digital Download and Video On Demand today March 26th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. The Blu-ray Disc and DVD will both feature Ultraviolet Digital Copy. The Blu-ray and DVD include audio commentary with Director/Co-Writer Marcus Dunstan and Co-Writer Patrick Melton and a host of special features – from one of which this exclusive clip was taken. It’s a cool look at the practical effects work of the film that I’m sure is much longer on the Blu itself.

The Collection follows a twisted madman who “collects” humans in a booby-trapped house of horrors. Starring Josh Stewart (The Dark Knight Rises), the film also stars Emma Fitzpatrick (The Social Network), Lee Tergesen (Texas Chainsaw: The Beginning) and Christopher McDonald (HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire”), and is written by established horror writing team Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (Feast series, Saw IV – Saw 3D: The Final Chapter). Directed by Dunstan, it is the second time he has directed a film the pair has written.

[BD Review] Evan Calls ‘The Collection’ A Bigger, Sillier and Fun Sequel

Now in theaters everywhere is Marcus Dunstan’s The Collection, his and co-writer Patrick Melton’s sequel to their Saw-esq The Collector. Evan Dickson writes in with his thoughts on the film, which follows the further escapades of “The Collector,” and his massive collection.

While I didn’t fall in love with The Collection, there’s something admirable about its ambition to not be more of the same. Its increased scope and willingness to stray from the beats of its predecessor, The Collector, indicate that co-writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (the latter of whom also directed) have an actual creative engagement with the material. So if the good news is that they’re not treading the same ground as the first film, the bad news is that – depending on what you’re looking to get out of the experience – it may not work as well.

Click here to read the review in its entirety. After you’ve had a chance to check it out, return here and write your own review to tell all of BD what YOU thought!

Watch A 6 Minute Clip From ‘The Collection’!!

On November 30 LD Entertainment will open The Collection revealing all of the nasty items within. The film is directed by Marcus Dunstan and written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton (Saw IV-VII). It’s quite a bit different than The Collector, tonally speaking, and this 6 minute clip reflects that. I was about to call it the “first 6 minutes” of the film, but there’s actually a handful of important scenes that take place before this one. Still, it’s near the beginning and full of blood!

In the new sequel, “When Elena’s (Emma Fitzpatrick) friends take her to a secret party at an undisclosed location, she never imagined she would become the latest victim of The Collector, a psychopathic killer. Marcus Dunstan And Patrick Melton On Changing Tone And Upping The Body Count For ‘The Collection’

On November 30 LD Entertainment will open The Collection revealing all of the nasty items within. The film is directed by Marcus Dunstan and written by Dunstan and Patrick Melton (their writing credits include Piranha 3DD, Feast, Saw IV, V, VI, Saw 3D and of course The Collector and Pacific Rim).

I sat down with the pair earlier this week and we discussed just how different the new film is from The Collector (hint, a LOT), which Friday The 13th herione Emma Fitzpatrick’s character is modeled on, how they worked to create the grisly sculptures in the film and their desire to make The Collected – the potential third installment of The Collector – even more of a departure.

In the new sequel, “When Elena’s (Emma Fitzpatrick) friends take her to a secret party at an undisclosed location, she never imagined she would become the latest victim of The Collector, a psychopathic killer. The Collector kidnaps and transports her to an abandoned hotel he’s transformed into his own private maze of torture and death. LD Entertainment to Release Hotly Anticipated ‘The Collection’

Mickell Liddell’s Liddell Entertainment–which has been on a festival buying spree — is launching a new domestic distribution company that will be headed by veteran indie executive David Dinerstein. LD Distribution will both acquire films and provide distribution for Liddell Entertainment’s own expanding production slate, and intends to release four to six films in its first year.

LD Distribution’s initial slate includes The Collection 3D, the sequel to Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s violent The Collector, which was originally primed to be a Saw prequel. No release has been set.

Arkin (Josh Stewart) escapes with his life from the vicious grips of “The Collector” during an entrapment party where he adds beautiful Elena to his “Collection.” Instead of recovering from the trauma, Arkin is suddenly abducted from the hospital by mercenaries hired by Elena’s wealthy father. Arkin is blackmailed to team up with the mercenaries and track down The Collector’s booby trapped hide out and save Elena from his sadistic rituals.

Melton and Dunstan are the writing duo behind Feast 1-III, Saw IV-VI and Piranha 3D. Dunstan directed the film. READ MORE

The Collector (Midnight Man)

The slasher follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home. Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked “Collector” in a maze of lethal invention – the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg – while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob.
