Classic heavy metal band Judas Priest made a guest appearance on last night’s episode of The Simpsons, which tackled the topic of illegal downloading and pirating. The band played a parody version of their hit song “Breaking The Law” entitled “Respecting The Law”. The Swedish character that is with the titular family begins rocking out, throwing up devil horns and headbanging. It’s an amusing little moment, even if Priest isn’t death metal, as the show claims. Hard rock/metal guitarist/producer Roy Z‘s soundtrack for the upcoming game Zombie Squash will be released digitally via Sumthing on October 29th. Roy Z is known for his work with Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Sebastian Bach, and Tribe Of Gypsies.
Starring George A. Romero (Night Of The Living Dead, Dawn Of The Dead), the game is set in, “…a world where plants and vegetables like turban squash and pumpkins turn into zombie squash spawned from the evil experiments of Dr. B. E. Vil (George A. Romero), owner of a controversial bio-chemical, genetics company Monsterno Corporation. Zombie Squash is a tower defense style game where you play as Jack Stompingtail, a fearless rabbit who fires carrots, zucchini and other garden ammo at the zombie squash onslaught! The player has to try and stop the zombie squash from taking over the world.”

Tomorrow brings the release of In Waves, the fifth studio album from Trivium. Though I wasn’t able to meet up with the guys at the Rockstar Mayhem Festival, I did get the chance to talk with Matt via phone a week ago to discuss the new album, how some of the biggest directors of today influence him, touring plans and Matt’s love of horror. Check out the exclusive interview after the jump!
Evile Guitarist Ol Drake decided that Lady Gaga‘s Born This Way just wasn’t heavy enough. And given that Lady Gaga has a serious love of Judas Priest, Ol Drake decided to do a metal cover that had a very Priest-y style. Check it out below and enjoy!
Black Label Society have been confirmed as the direct support for Judas Priest this fall on the Epitaph Tour. They are also going to be heading out on a headlining tour of Europe and South America, so check out the dates after the jump to see if they’re in your neck of the woods!
It’s been made very clear to me how much you readers love YouTube mashups. But to be completely honest, I love them just as much. So, with that being said, here is a mashup from YouTube user WaxAudio who took Judas Priest‘s Painkiller and mashed it up with Lady Gaga‘s Judas. End result? Pure awesome. Check it out after the jump.
Judas Priest have announced, in what is sure to make metalheads around the country lose their mind, that they will be hitting the road this fall with opening support coming from Thin Lizzy and Black Label Society. The tour will be part of the Epitaph touring cycle and comes after the departure of founding member, K.K. Downing, who has been replaced by Richie Faulkner. Check out the dates after the jump and let me know if you’re going to be at the Detroit show! My only concern is that the Detroit show is after the date for the impending apocalypse. Damn you Harold Camping for ruining my metal experience!
Say whatever you will about Ozzy Osbourne, but the man is the Prince of Darkness and he has been a part of creating some of the greatest metal the world has ever heard. Sure, at this point in his career, he’s doing Best Buy ads with Justin Bieber, but think of his glory days, such as when Diary of a Madman or Blizzard of Ozz came out. Well, you can relive those days on May 31st in much better audio quality! Both of those albums are going to be reissued with special editions made available. You can even order a super special edition, which comes with a full size replica of Ozzy’s cross here. While you wait, you can check out a really cool trailer after the jump, which features statements from Lemmy (Motorhead), Rob Halford (Judas Priest), Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society), and more.
LA’s extreme metal band Dia De Los Muertos has announced the title of their upcoming full-length debut as ‘Satanico Dramatico’, which is set for a Feb. 23rd worldwide digital release. This release is the follow up to their EP, ‘Day of the Dead’, which was mixed by Roy Z. (Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Judas Priest).
Recently, Sully Erna of Godsmack fame posted a MySpace EPlaylist of songs that shaped his musical upbringing and his styles of today. Unfortunately for MySpace (and fortunate for us), they didn’t allow any descriptions to be posted along with those songs. Well, Sully sent them on over to Bloody-Disgusting for all of you readers to check out after the jump!
Today is yet another sad day in music as Paul Gray, bassist of Slipknot, has been found dead in a hotel in Iowa. I saw this news on Blabbermouth.net, so I’ll just repost a bit of their article here. I will say though that although I didn’t enjoy the last few Slipknot records, their debut album was one of my favorite records for the first several years of the 2000 decade. I spun that record more times than I can count and I credit that album as one of the reasons I got into the more extreme genres of metal.
Rob Halford is ready for the holidays. The Judas Priest frontman just dropped what might be the most “metal” Christmas album ever— Winter Songs. It’s a collection of raw and ripping rock n’ roll that sizzles with the Christmas spirit. So how is Mr. Halford preparing for Santa to slide down the chimney? By talking to us about his favorite horror movies, of course! We asked Rob what his favorite horror flicks were, and he was a stoked to answer.
Read on for a look at the list. READ MORE
