Foals Release Super NSFW Video For “Late Night”

UK rock band Foals have released a VERY NSFW music video for their track “Late Night”, which comes off their recently released album Holy Fire. The video, directed by Nabil (Kanye West, Frank Ocean), follows the stories of four different groups of people over a short period of time. It’s a bit dark, it’s definitely tragic, and it’s very well done.

On the song’s lyrics, vocalist/guitarist Yannis Philippakis says: “Some of that is to do with my grandmother, and to do with aging, and being on the verge of passing over into something else, and having remorse and guilt. Catholic guilt? Byzantine guilt… bloodlines, and disappointment, and the unwinding of genes.

You can snag your copy of Punk Goes Pop vol. 5 on iTunes. Also, now through Nov. 19th, all previous editions of Punk Goes… are on sale for $7.99.

Personally, and maybe I’m not understanding this idea, but doesn’t it seem like you should have, I don’t know, punk bands doing Punk Goes Pop? These seem more like screamo, metalcore, and bands that fall into those types of genres. Help me out here readers, am I wrong? READ MORE

King Crimson’s Robert Fripp Quits The Music Business: Tears Pour Down My Face

Robert Fripp, the only original member of prog-rock band King Crimson, recently granted a rare interview with UK Financial Times in which he stated, “…I made the choice to give up my career as a musician in the frontline to deal with the business.” He continues, saying, “My life as a professional musician is a joyless exercise in futility.” The full interview can be read here.

Part of this stems from Kanye West‘s sampling of “21st Century Schizoid Man” in his song “Power”, which was done without Fripp’s approval. As a matter of fact, the song had racked up over 1 million views before he was even approached regarding its use. This is one of many grievances that Fripp has with the music industry and with Universal Music Group, the largest record label in the world, whom Fripp has been embroiled in a dispute with for over five years.

I’ve been a huge fan of King Crimson for many years, have seen them live, and even flew out to San Francisco to see Robert Fripp do his Soundscapes as an opening for Porcupine Tree. So, as you can probably imagine, this is a pretty big blow for me. I know that original Fripp releases were becoming increasingly rarer and rarer but there was always hope in my heart that new music would come out. Below are some of my favorite Crimson songs that I’ll be listening to throughout the day. READ MORE

Soundtrack To NBA Baller Beats Announced

If you follow Mr. Disgusting on twitter, you’ll know that he is an avid follower of basketball. And if I were to guess, I’d assume that he’s also a phenomenal dancer. As in he’d rock the two-step followed by a Charleston and finish it all off with a tap dance routine that would leave Dulé Hill in tears. But all of this is besides the point.

The point here is NBA Baller Beats, a new game coming out for XBox Kinect on Sept. 11th. The game uses an official Spalding NBA game ball replica and your body motions to match your dribbles and “passes” to the beat of licensed music. I highly doubt that the game comes with a warranty for all the lamps, vases, tables, chairs, glasses, and whatever else is in your game room that you are going to destroy once that ball leaves your hand.

Below is a trailer for the game as well as the disc soundtrack and previously mentioned songs for the game. READ MORE

Diving into the world of hip-hop, we’re looking towards Kanye West and his video for “Monster” for this edition of Twisted Music Video Of The Week. The song comes from Kanye’s critically acclaimed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which came out in 2010. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.

Definitely NSFW, this video features West and “dead” women. Like, a lot of them. Women hanging from their necks, women laying on beds, beheaded women, oh my! It’s a veritable smorgasbord of dead women! Check out the video below and make sure to leave a comment with your suggestion for the next edition of Twisted Music Video Of The Week! READ MORE

Retro Review: King Crimson ‘In the Court Of The Crimson King’

Join me Bloody-Disgusting reader as we travel back to the year 1969. I am willing to guarantee that this was before the majority of you were born (it was WELL before I was even a thought), so let’s take a look at some of the major events of that year: Ohio State won the Rose Bowl. Nixon succeeded as President of the United States of America. The Beatles performed their last public concert. The Boeing 747 makes its first flight. Monty Python’s Flying Circus airs its first episode on BBC. And King Crimson releases their first album, ‘In The Court Of The Crimson King’, beginning a musical career that is still going on today.

OMFG Of The Day: The Muppets Cover Kanye West’s ‘Monster’

Kanye West recently released the video for his single ‘Monster’, which I thought had great horror visuals and was a beautifully shot video. However, sometimes a re-imagining comes along that one ups the original. Many of you thought so of Matt Reeve’s ‘Let Me In’. So check out this video below and let us know if you think The Muppets did this justice.

Devil Horns and Dead Models in Kanye West’s ‘Monster’ Music Video

In an age where music sales are plummeting, Kanye West broke through with his masterpiece “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”, which has moved over 600,000 units thus far (maybe even more). While receiving critical acclaim, the album has been under much scrutiny by conspiracy theorists who believe the album, and the released videos, are soaked in Freemason/Illuminati imagery — hinting at Devil worship. This morning a “teaser” was released for his next single, “Monster”, which features JAY-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj & Bon Iver… and a whole lotta insane imagery. Horror would be an understatement. I’m quite interested in seeing what the entire video holds, and to see the public’s reaction.
