Total Recall Video Implants Behind The Scenes Action, Interviews With Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel And Kate Beckinsale

This past weekend saw the release of the trailer for Len Wiseman’s Total Recall remake. I wasn’t really all that stoked but a lot of you guys seemed to dig it. If you’re still excited for this thing then you’ll definitely want to check out this video featuring all kinds of interviews and behind the scenes action on the set of the film. It’s worth noting that Jessica Biel says this is more influenced by the Philip K. Dick book than the 1990 Paul Verhoeven film. I’m not sure where she’s getting that from since it seems like a beat for beat remake of the film only with a lot of the fun (and Mars) taken out.

In the remake, “Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he’s got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) whom he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life – real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police – controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston) – there is no one Quaid can trust, except possibly a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) working for the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy). The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

The ‘Total Recall’ Trailer Is Here, But Forgot To Bring The Fun

The Total Recall Trailer Is Here, But Forgot To Bring The Fun

The trailer for Len Wiseman’s highly anticipated remake of Total Recall has landed. Of course it’s up to everyone to make up their own mind on this, but it looks to have completely dropped the fun and satirical edge that the brilliant 1990 film had. I suppose the movie could still actually be good, but I never really had my hopes super up for this one and nothing has changed now that the trailer’s here. It just looks so rote and flat. I also can’t really buy John Cho in that role. More importantly though, what do you think?

Out of Taiwan comes a viral promo trailer for Columbia Pictures’ Total Recall, Len Wiseman’s re-envisioning of Philip K. Dick’s “We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.” The footage looks a’ight, I guess, but it will never be the same as watching Arnold Schwarzenegger’s film of the same name.

‘Underworld: Awakening 3D’ Made $25 Million This Weekend, What Did You Think?

Underworld: Awakening 3D Made $25 Million This Weekend, What Did You Think?

I know a TON of you guys saw Underworld: Awakening 3D this weekend. It just grossed an estimated $25 million, outpacing Rise Of The Lycans by a significant margin.

While I didn’t love the movie (I’m not a huge Underworld fan), I did think it was the best in the series. From my review.

There’s almost a remarkable spark that accompanies this synergy of people cutting the bullsh*t and consciously embracing the humble simplicity of making a film designed only to be the very best kind of this type of movie. And that’s exactly what ‘Underworld: Awakening’ is. Sure I’m grading on a curve here, but it’s easily the best ‘Underworld’ movie. I was actually entertained throughout its appropriately brief 88 minute running time.

But what did you guys think? Write in with your review now!

Also, given this film’s box office performance and its ‘A-’ Cinemascore (which means that audiences liked it enough that we can expect it to continue to do well next weekend, unlike Devil Inside), I’d say it’s more than likely we’ll be seeing a 5TH Underworld film – even though one has yet to be officially announced.

Hit up the comments to let us know what you’d like to see in the 5th one, or if you just want the series to die already! READ MORE

Underworld: Awakening 3D hit theaters this weekend and Don Allen checks in with his video review.

Don liked the film a hair more than I did (my review), but we both agree that Awakening makes a wise decision by shackling off the heavy handed romance and mythology heading straight into the action.

[Interview]: UPDATED – Len Wiseman On ‘Underworld: Awakening’ And ‘Total Recall’, Says Some Iconic Moments Will Be Back

TotalLand12012 [Interview]: UPDATED Len Wiseman On Underworld: Awakening And Total Recall, Says Some Iconic Moments Will Be Back

*EDIT 6:17 pst – I just got a phone call from Len Wiseman clarifying his stance on the “Iconic Characters” portion of our conversation. He doesn’t want you to get too excited about Kuato coming back or anything like that. Turns out he was referring to “Iconic Moments” more than he was “Iconic Characters”.

With Underworld: Awakening 3D hitting theaters today and interest in Total Recall beginning to pick up in anticipation of its release this summer – today was just as good as any to hop on the phone with Len WIseman. While he was too busy directing Recall to tackle Awakening, he still definitely wears his producer cap in the Underworld franchise.

We spoke a little about the future of the Underworld franchise before going into some detail on Total Recall itself. Details on the latter have been kept unusually scarce so it was nice to get some fresh updates right from the horse’s mouth. His redo also stars Colin Farrell, Bryan Cranston, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bokeem Woodbine, Ethan Hawke and Bill Nighy. It’s set for release on August 3rd, 2012.

And you’re caught up on the synopsis for the remake, right? It “ditches the Martian storyline from the original pic and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell), a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy — although he doesn’t know for which side.

We also talk vaguely about the end of Underworld: Awakening – so slight spoilers ahead!

[Interview] Kate Beckinsale Talks Returning For Underworld Awakening 3D & The Updated Total Recall

Last week I had the chance to sit down with the stars of Underworld: Awakening 3D, Kate Beckinsale chiefly among them.

The new film adds a wrinkle to the mix by including actual humans in the ongoing battle between Vampires and Lycans. I talked to the newer members of the cast (Theo James, India Eisley and Michael Ealy) about joining the long running franchise. Meanwhile, Kate Beckinsale seemed quite happy to be back and was able to go into some detail regarding the tone of the upcoming ‘Total Recall’ remake.

I was also surprised to hear that co-directors Marlind & Stein literally alternated days on set, trading off which one of them got to call the shots depending on the day. Judging from these interviews, it would appear that process went shockingly smoothly.

[Random Cool] I Hitch A Ride With Selene On A Mission To Pimp Underworld: Awakening 3D!

At a recent junket for Underworld: Awakening 3D (interviews posting soon) they asked me to take a break from chatting with the stars to take a ride with Selene and fend off some Lycans.

Is this a ploy on behalf of the studio to create awareness saturation for the movie? Sure. But I was there to interview Kate Beckinsale and her costars anyway – which is certainly a form of that as well. Was I paid by the studio? No. Was it fun? Yes. Have I seen Underworld: Awakening? Yes. Is it good? You’ll have to wait for my review on the 20th to find out!

For the time being, you can laugh at my horrible acting skills in the clip after the jump! This is your chance to get revenge on me for all the times I disagreed with you! READ MORE

I’m kind of not sure why this mystery is still being kept tight-lipped, especially considering Bloody Disgusting exclusively broke the story before Kate Beckinsale had even signed onto star. Either way, the first TV Spot for Underworld: Awakening gives us a look at India Eisley, a young girl who plays a vampire/Lycan hybrid. Originally slated to be a twin – maybe that will come into play in the next sequel? – this young girl is Selene’s (Beckinsale) daughter and is primed to take over the franchise. The new commercial shares a very good look at her, teasing a bit of that hybrid look. Cool stuff!

[Special Feature] Reflect Back On the Underworld Franchise & Its Sexy Heroines!

With Screen Gems’ Underworld: Awakening 3D hitting theaters on January 20, 2012 (which is just around the corner, practice writing that new year now so your checks are legit in a few weeks) you might be looking for a refresher on some of the events of the franchise. These films, believe it or not, have been going strong for almost a decade now – and since they focus heavily on the lineage of several specific families and clans viewed though the lens of a highly political war between Vampires and Lycans – they’re not 100% stand alone.

And one thing is certainly different this time as opposed to the prior outing – Kate Beckinsale has returned to the series, reprising her role as Selene. Also changing hands are the reigns behind the camera – the film is directed by Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein. It also stars Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, Theo James, India Eisley and Charles Dance.
