[EFM '12] Alliance Films Nabs UK and Canadian Rights To Violent ‘Everly’
Marking the second major deal of the European Film Market, Alliance Films has snapped up U.K. and Canadian rights to Kate Hudson starrer Everly, which was just announced last week.
Deal is estimated to be north of $1 million and saw a number of other foreign buyers at the table, notably eOne, which was also in the final running for the female-driven actioner.
Nick Meyer’s Sierra/Affinity has been shopping the $10 million actioner, helmed by Joe Lynch, to buyers here at the fest, which sees Hudson star as a down-on-her-luck woman, stuck in her apartment, fending off waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss.
Story is based on a concept created by Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, Chillerama, Knights of Badassdom). Yale Hannon penned the script, which was featured on the Hollywood Black List.
Pic, which is produced by Adam Ripp and Rob Paris’ Crime Scene Pictures, also sold to Splendid for Germany, Switzerland and Benelux for just north of $1 million. READ MORE
Kate Hudson Defends Herself From Wave Of Assassins in ‘Everly’
Kate Hudson (The Skeleton Key) is set to star in Joe Lynch‘s actioner Everly, the new project from Adam Ripp and Rob Paris’s Crime Scene Pictures shingle, reports Variety.
Sounding like it could tip in the direction of “ultra-violence,” Hudson will star as a down-on-her-luck woman, stuck in her apartment, who must fend off waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss.
It’s based on a concept created by Lynch, who directed Wrong Turn 2, Knights of Badassdom and parts of Chillerama. Yale Hannon penned the script, which was featured on the Hollywood Black List.
The pic is being sold by Nick Meyer’s Sierra/Affinity at the Berlin Film Festival next week. READ MORE

The Skeleton Key
Set largely in the dark atmospheric backwoods just outside of New Orleans, The Skeleton Key stars Hudson as Caroline, a live-in nurse hired to care for an elderly woman’s (Rowlands) ailing husband (Hurt) in their home … a foreboding and decrepit Gothic mansion in the Louisiana delta. Intrigued by the enigmatic couple, their mysterious and secretive ways and their rambling house, Caroline beings to explore the old mansion. Armed with a skeleton key that unlocks every door, she discovers a hidden attic room that holds a deadly and terrifying secret. Peter Sarsgaard portrays Luke, the local attorney working on the couple’s estate, and Joy Bryant plays Jill, Caroline’s best friend.
