Filmmaking and life converge around a werewolf film.
In ‘You’re Next’ the Davison family comes under attack from a terrifying group of sadistic murderers during a family reunion getaway. Barricaded in their secluded vacation home, they fight off a barrage of axes, crossbows and machetes from both inside and outside the house. However, the masked killers didn’t count on Erin (Vinson), the young girlfriend of the eldest Davison son whose mysterious past has made her very difficult to kill.
Official: One of the smartest and most terrifying films in years, the film reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.
We’ve got yet another awesome viral image (via Collider) from the amazing You’re Next (review here), in theaters August 23.
After popping up at a Wedding and on a Temptation Bus Ad, another one of the film’s masked killers has popped up on a poster for Peeples in New York City, defacing yet another perfectly good Lionsgate poster.

Back on Sunday we told you about the coolest viral campaign we’ve seen all year – Lionsgate had printed bus stop ads for The Big Wedding, only they were invaded by one of the “animals” from their forthcoming slasher You’re Next (review here), in theaters August 23.
While the ads had previously been reported across the New York area, an eagle-eyed reader in Culver City, California confirmed that Los Angeles is also being stalked by the killers from Adam Wingard’s You’re Next! Inside we have an insanely cool bus shelter ad for Tyler Perry’s Temptation that reflects yet another “animal” from the film. It’s unclear how old the Temptation photo is as the movie came out end of March, but these ads must have been up for a while. Lionsgate would not return our calls to comment. Special thanks to Bloody reader “Justin K.” for the the image and news tip!

Update: Another bus shelter ad was spotted in Los Angeles! Lionsgate has just won the year with their absolutely ingenious viral campaign for Adam Wingard’s You’re Next (review), which opens in theaters August 23.
While we’re unaware of how many cities partook, Los Angeles and New York bus stops reportedly carry displays for Lionsgate’s upcoming comedy, The Big Wedding, which reflect one of the “animals” from the hotly anticipated slasher You’re Next!!
Looking at the following image, I can’t tell of there’s an actual reflection or if Lionsgate “printed” the animal on the top layer of the Big Wedding poster; either way, what you’ll see inside is pretty haunting and beyond eye-catching. Take a look and marvel at the brilliance behind Lionsgate’s marketing department. What do ya’ think?

2013 is primed to be one of the best years in horror – and thanks to Lionsgate we’ll be heading into the Halloween season with the beloved festival slasher You’re Next (read our review), which takes an ax to theaters on August 23. The Toronto International Film Festival smash hit blew the minds of the Midnight Madness audience, as well as this month’s SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas. Good luck finding a negative review.
Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett, the duo best known for A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S and the forthcoming V/H/S/2, “You’re Next is one of the smartest and most terrifying films in years, one that reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.”
Bloody Disgusting is excited to exclusively premiere one of three You’re Next teaser posters. It displays one of the film’s “animals”, as well as the tagline: “Did you remember to lock your door?” It’s an astoundingly artistic one-sheet that’s both haunting and beautiful. It’ll definitely grab people’s eyes as they’re walking through a theater lobby…
Still, the best part of the slasher is that it boasts an astounding cast that includes Sharni Vinson (the upcoming Patrick remake), Nick Tucci (Choose, Undocumented), Wendy Glenn (11-11-11), AJ Bowen (A Horrible Way to Die, The House of the Devil, The Signal), Joe Swanberg (A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S), Margaret Laney, Amy Seimetz (A Horrible Way to Die), Ti West (The Roost, The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers), Calvin Reeder (V/H/S, The Rambler), Larry Fessenden (Habit, The Last Winter), Kate Lyn Sheil (V/H/S), Barbara Crampton (80′s fav who starred in Re-Animator, From Beyond and Castle Freak) and Rob Moran. Lionsgate’s You’re Next screened over the weekend to a packed crowd at this year’s SXSW Festival and, after 18 months of praise, everyone seemed to agree that the film lived up to the hype. One of the reasons behind the film’s creative success is Adam Wingard‘s incredibly assured hand as a director. I’ve always been fond of his work, but You’re Next is unlike anything else currently on his resume – a taut, crowd-pleasing horror film that has a uniquely addictive energy. I sat down with him after the screening to talk about the film’s violence and his approach towards making it feel huge.

Lionsgate’s You’re Next screened over the weekend to a packed crowd at this year’s SXSW Festival. While it was my third time seeing the film (which gets better with every viewing), it was the first time I’d seen it with a big audience and I wasn’t anticipating just how much of a crowd pleaser it would actually be. One of the most important components to that success is the performance Sharni Vinson delivers as Erin, the highly capable protagonist. I sat down with her the morning after the screening to talk about her role and the fact that she flourished during a shoot that many found exhausting.

Our anthology flick V/H/S is now available on DVD, Blu-ray and VHS in the UK, and to celebrate Bloody Disgusting will give (3) lucky UK readers both a VHS and Blu-ray copy of the film directed by Adam Wingard, Ti West, David Bruckner, Glenn McQuaid, Radio Silence and Joe Swanberg.
“When a group of petty criminals is hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last.”
Open to UK readers only, put VHS UK in the subject line and then send me YOUR FULL NAME and ADDRESS to [email protected]. Winners will be chosen at random this weekend.
In addition to this fun promotion, you can read up about the London video store re-opening for business this coming Friday. There will be a live Twitter party! Get the information here. READ MORE
To celebrate the highly anticipated release of our horror anthology, V/H/S, for one night only, London took a nostalgic trip back in time to the Video rental store! Below we’ve added a behind-the-scenes look at the special event, which I would have died to attend, as well as details as to how you can be part of the re-opening online this Friday!
Home of V/H/S: “Cellar Rentals Video Store” to return for one day only online!
“The scariest, rawest horror movie of the year” (Rolling Stone) has finally arrived in the UK! The celebrated portmanteau horror V/H/S is out now on DVD, Blu-ray and download through Momentum Pictures (in the UK). Having already opened ‘Cellar Rentals’ in London courtesy of Momentum Pictures where a rapturous crowd were transported back to the heady days of searching through racks upon racks of VHS tapes in order to find that perfect Saturday night scare, they decided that one night in London (after a lot of sorrow from people outside London who couldn’t come) just wasn’t enough, so they are bringing it to the rest of us…
To welcome the arrival, they are reopening the doors to ‘Cellar Rentals’ on Friday, February 1st for four hours from 2pm GMT (6am PST) to 6pm GMT (10am PST) via Twitter, where a hosted nostalgia-thon will allow us all to chat about videos of yesteryear, the arrival of V/H/S on DVD and Blu-ray and download in the UK plus… the final chance EVER to win a copy of V/H/S on VHS in the UK! We’ll be using the #InsertVHS4Fear hashtag from @fetchpublicity so make sure you are there to join in on the antics. Do not miss out! There will also be a link to a store filled with cool retro clips, trailers and more to digest and send us all back down memory lane one final time. Details and video inside! READ MORE
We’re incredibly excited to report that IMP Awards, the premiere poster website, has nominated the theatrical V/H/S one-sheet for “Best Horror Poster”!
“Bringing back memories of the poster for Visiting Hours this skull image made up of someone’s deranged video collection manages to hint at the plot of the film while still providing a creepy image,” says the site.
Designed by Gravillis Inc. for Magnet Releasing, the poster is nominated against The Cabin in the Woods, The Woman in Black, The Possession and In Their Skin.
V/H/S is now available on DVD, Blu-ray and even Netflix Instant. Another tape was discovered – S-VHS – and will premiere at Sundance this coming weekend. READ MORE
My brother just e-mailed me over a link to a website called Movie Bar Code, which carries one simple premise: they take every single frame from a movie, compress it into a single line, and then line them up next to each other so you get a bar code.
Added just the other day was a barcode for V/H/S, made me insanely excited. It’s super cool, in my opinion at least, so I wanted to share it with you guys. (I love how you can plainly see the Skype portion.)
In addition, this is a great time to let you know that V/H/S is now available on Netflix Instant, as well as DVD, Blu-ray, and various VOD platforms. Thanks again for all of your support! READ MORE

Limited Theaters October 5: When a group of petty criminals is hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isn’t going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last.
So who is part of the madness, you ask? Adam Wingard (You’re Next, A Horrible Way to Die, Pop Skull), Simon Barrett (You’re Next, Dead Birds, Red Sands), Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Roost, The Innkeepers), David Bruckner (The Signal), Joe Swanberg (Silver Bullets), Glenn McQuaid (I Sell the Dead), along with YouTube sensations Radio Silence.
Well, that took awhile. After scooping up the film at the 2011 TIFF, Lionsgate has been sitting on You’re Next, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett’s incredible home invasion slasher that stars Sharni Vinson, Nick Tucci, Wendy Glenn, AJ Bowen, Joe Swanberg, Margaret Laney, Amy Seimetz, Ti West, Calvin Reeder, Larry Fessenden, Kate Lyn Sheil, Barbara Crampton and Rob Moran. Presumably, the issue of releasing arose when Lionsgate acquired Summit, leaving few slots for their upcoming horror releases. Now, a year after being sold in a massive bidding war, Collider reports that the Gate will now release in theaters on August 23, 2013.
In the film, which received rave reviews (read mine here), “A family comes under a terrifying and sadistic attack during a reunion getaway. Barricaded in their secluded country home, they have to fight off a barrage of axes, crossbows and machetes from both inside and outside the house. Unfortunately for the killers, one of the victims proves to have a talent for fighting back.”
Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett also collaborated on V/H/S, which is now available On Demand, as well as A Horrible Way To Die. READ MORE
