[Album Review] Killswitch Engage ‘Disarm The Descent’

When it was announced that Killswitch Engage was parting ways with vocalist Howard Jones, there was a great sense of loss amongst the fans. However, there was also a feeling of anticipation and hope as many people were holding their breath and secretly wishing that original vocalist Jesse Leach would return. When those prayers were answered the anticipation for a new KsE album skyrocketed.

Enter Disarm The Descent, the first album with Jesse Leach since 2002’s seminal Alive Or Just Breathing. It’s been 11 years, so naturally some questions arise. Killswitch Engage Announces US Headline Tour: Dates Inside

Metalcore band Killswitch Engage has announced a full string of US headlining tour dates. Support will come from As I Lay Dying, Miss May I, and Affiance. The tour kicks off in Oklahoma City and wraps up just over a month later in Joliet.

Vocalist Jesse Leach comments, “We look forward to sharing this tour with our old friends and brothers in metal As I Lay Dying. I personally have never had the chance to tour with them and I am looking forward to having such a quality band out with us to give this tour even more fire! We will also be joined by a talented and up-and-coming band Miss May I and a new band we’re all excited to see live called Affiance. Thanks to all the U.S. fans for your support! Our live show will be full-on energy with all of us ready to take this to a whole new level.

Bassist Mike D. adds, “We are super excited to be back out with our good buds in As I Lay Dying! They are some of our favorite dudes to hang with on the road, so assumptions are high that utter chaos shall ensue. There will be so much metal riffage — you could build your own Carnival Cruse Ship. Hear Demo Of New Killswitch Engage Song “No End In Sight”

A demo version of metalcore band Killswitch Engage‘s song entitled “No End In Sight” has leaked onto the internet, resulting in the band performing the track live. It is the first track to feature original KSE vocalist Jesse Leach on front vocals since he left the band after the release of 2002′s Alive Or Just Breathing (he did guest vocals on two tracks on 2004′s The End Of Heartache). The track is a rough demo and, according to Adam Dutkiewicz in an interview with Guitar World, “It’s actually the one tune that’s pretty different from the other stuff. Overall the rest of the album is a little faster, a little meaner, a little growlier — thrashy but with lots of clean parts. We’re going a little more extreme this time.” You can hear “No End In Sight” below.

The band is currently in the studio mixing their upcoming album with producer Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Exodus, Nevermore). The as-of-yet untitled album will be released sometime in early 2013 via Roadrunner Records.

Killswitch Engage will be performing Alive Or Just Breathing in its entirety on tour in a few weeks. Support will come from Shadows Fall and Acaro. Check here for all tour dates. READ MORE

Five Finger Death Punch Set To Headline Trespass America Festival

Battlecross, God Forbid, Emmure, Trivium, Pop Evil, Killswitch Engage, Five Finger Death Punch. That is quite an impressive lineup for the inaugural year of the Trespass America music festival! Sponsored by Metal Hammer magazine, the tour will start in mid July and run through until the end of August, hitting many of the major spots while still stopping by a few of the more “out of the way” destinations.

Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Zoltan Bathory states, “We will carry the flag into mainstream territory; we will trespass on their turf all across America.
