IllumiRoom

Microsoft Sheds More Light On Their Exciting IllumiRoom Project

Back in January, Microsoft revealed an exciting new project called IllumiRoom. It’s a silly name, but I’ll forgive that because of how insanely cool it looks. The idea is simple, IllumiRoom aims to extend what’s going on on-screen past the boundaries of the TV screen.

There are numerous uses for this, ranging from the game environment displayed on the wall surrounding the TV to simpler, and (in my opinion) more practical, uses like seeing items you can pick up displayed off-screen. See it in action after the break.

‘Dead Space 3′ Gets Fresh With The Kinect, GameStop, And Amazon. Filthy Dirty Whore

“Better with Kinect” is becoming a surprisingly popular slogan. Dead Space 3 is going to be one of those games with Kinect support. Also Destructoid is reporting you have 2 avenues of pre ordering the game that will get you some hot bonus action. Pre order at GameStop to get the EG-900 Sub Machine Gun, and Amazon gives you the Enervator. It sounds a bit more brutal than the EG-900 and I must admit I’m a way bigger Amazon fan. Head past the break for a new trailer showing you 2 ways to play the game.

Soundtrack To NBA Baller Beats Announced

If you follow Mr. Disgusting on twitter, you’ll know that he is an avid follower of basketball. And if I were to guess, I’d assume that he’s also a phenomenal dancer. As in he’d rock the two-step followed by a Charleston and finish it all off with a tap dance routine that would leave DulĂ© Hill in tears. But all of this is besides the point.

The point here is NBA Baller Beats, a new game coming out for XBox Kinect on Sept. 11th. The game uses an official Spalding NBA game ball replica and your body motions to match your dribbles and “passes” to the beat of licensed music. I highly doubt that the game comes with a warranty for all the lamps, vases, tables, chairs, glasses, and whatever else is in your game room that you are going to destroy once that ball leaves your hand.

Below is a trailer for the game as well as the disc soundtrack and previously mentioned songs for the game. READ MORE

[Awesome] The V Motion Project: Making Music Through Body Movements

Technology is shaping the way we listen to music more and more. But what’s possibly more incredible is the way in which technology is allowing us to CREATE music and present it to an audience. This is the idea behind The V Motion Project (sponsored by the V Energy Drink), a way in which the body is a controller for various aspects of music, be it the melody itself or other parameters such as pitch, modulation, depth, and more. Below is a video showing the full device in action and you can read a very lengthy blog about how everything came together. READ MORE

Skyrim And Kinect Get Their F*ck On

Skyrim later on this month will be adding Kinect support to the game. So in case you weren’t already tired of spending 300 or so hours on the game, you can now yell at your TV in the middle of the night for the next year or so. The Kinect functionality is said to include over 200 voice commands. Though they are not yet known they will be revealing them soon. Past the break for a sneak peak video FUS RO DAH!

Comcast’s Xfinity App Now Available On Xbox Live

Those of you who have Comcast know that On Demand is pretty great. You also know the menus for On Demand are slow, and at this point in technological history, a pain in the ass to navigate. Well now you can download the Xfinity app on your Xbox 360, and do all the On Demand surfing right from there.

Xfinity logo Comcasts Xfinity App Now Available On Xbox Live

It’s pretty awesome so far, and really gives you a better idea of what your On Demand has to offer. It’s a pain to navigate the archaic menus to see what’s on there. The only issue I have is they don’t have music videos. They kept the main focus on movies and tv shows. Which is fine but I would like to see that in the future. I used to watch music videos all the time On Demand, but the menus are too slow. READ MORE

Amazon’s Rise Of Nightmares Pre Order Bonus, Well, It Sucks.

If you recall a little over a week ago I posted about the Rise Of Nightmares pre-order bonuses. They are not so good. And just when you thought there couldn’t be a worse bonus, along comes the Amazon.com pre order bonus. For the exact same price, you get a Jester avatar pet. That’s it.

Amazons Rise Of Nightmares Pre Order Bonus, Well, It Sucks.

Listen, I know I’m bitching. I mean we should be grateful we get ANYTHING at all for free with the game just for pre-ordering. I remember spending full price for a game when I was younger, getting absolutely NOTHING extra with it, and then hating the crap out of the game. We live in a good era for video games. But if Amazon wants to beat out Game Stop they need to schmooze some better exclusives. Although Amazon does a lot of the time offer you a 20 dollar credit towards your next video game when you buy a new game from them. READ MORE

This Rise Of Nightmares Red Band Trailer, Well I Don’t Even Need To Tell You

There is no doubt about it. Rise Of Nightmares is not your average Kinect game. But as they show more and more of it, it’s not normal by any standards. It looks darker and more brutal than most horror games that have been coming out. And yes, that is a perfect fit for Bloody Disgusting. Check out this ridiculously brutal and weirdly awesome Red Band Trailer below.

Rise Of Nightmares will be out September 6thfor the Xbox 360 Kinect, and I won’t be sleeping that night because of how freaked out I’ll be. READ MORE

Pre-Order Rise Of Nightmares At Game Stop For Some Exclusive Bonuses

If you haven’t already checked out the frighteningly horrific Rise Of Nightmares screen shots that Adam posted 2 articles down, I suggest you stop acting like a scared little baby and do it. I mean sure Adam basically came onto the entire BD audience, but that’s nothing to be so afraid of. He’s gentle, and soft, and likes to coo softly in your ears to get you going.

12 Pre Order Rise Of Nightmares At Game Stop For Some Exclusive Bonuses

I’ve strayed WAY far off the subject. If you pre-order Rise Of Nightmares from your local Game Stop you get some absolutely meh bonuses. This Batch of New Rise of Nightmares Screens Really Brings On the Gore

Come September the Kinect will be getting its first dose of real horror with Rise of Nightmares, Sega’s attempt at appealing to those of us who own the Xbox 360′s limb flailing peripheral. From everything we’ve seen of the game so far it looks pretty damn creepy. Like, locked in a retirement home at night level of creepy, where you just know a wrinkly old woman is going to pop out at you from around the corner to pinch your cheek. That’s not even the worst of it, sure, old people and darkness is a damn terrifying combination, but what about that smell? Oh, and sorry to everyone over 60 who’s reading this, of course I’m not talking about you. You smell great, now stay the fuck away from my cheeks.

9 This Batch of New Rise of Nightmares Screens Really Brings On the Gore

Where was I? Oh yes, Rise of Nightmares has unleashed some brand new screenshots today that, if anything, prove this game isn’t afraid to splash buckets of blood and severed body parts at us. Head past the break for some screens, but be warned, there’s blood waiting for you past the jump. I just don’t want to be blamed for giving any of you nightmares. I know how sensitive Bloody Disgusting’s audience is. You’re all like fragile butterflies with weak stomachs. Sure, you’re all beautiful and I’d very much like to rub my face on you, but you’re also pretty delicate, so as a writer extraordinaire I have to be aware of your limitations. READ MORE

Nyko’s Kinect Zoom Lens Gets A Release Date

It’s time for you with small apartments to get excited. You people who live in the smallest rooms in your parents house because you’re the youngest child. You homeless who have to set the Kinect up in the homeless shelter bathroom. You get the idea. Nyko’s maybe best video game invention EVER the Kinect Zoom can be clipped onto your Kinect on August 23rd this summer.

7 Nykos Kinect Zoom Lens Gets A Release Date

You’ll be able to pick it up for 30 American dollars from most video game retailers. The lens makes it so the Kinect requires 40% less space to work. Which definitely opens up a whole bunch of new sales doors for the Kinect. A lot of people who previously wouldn’t be able to use the Kinect because of room size limitations can set their worries aside. READ MORE

This Horrific Rise Of Nightmares Trailer Is The Reason You Need A Kinect

I’ve been excited for a more ‘adult’ game to be hitting the Xbox 360 Kinect, but I have to say after seeing the trailer below, I’m 150% in. The trailer for Rise Of Nightmares is insane, fucked up, gory, old skool looking, bat shit crazy, and just plain awesome. I can’t really hype it up any more so just watch the video and tell me how sweet it looks.

E3: Nyko Changes The Game With Kinect Lens For Small Spaces

Nyko has made TONS of awesome gaming peripherals. But the items they are showing off at E3 this year might just be the absolute best. If you bought a Kinect, but your gaming space is small, you’re shit out of luck. The damn thing can’t find you. I have a decent sized gaming area and I still have to completely move the couch out of the way and it’s just barely enough. Check out the video below to see this amazing add on in action.

E3: Rise of Nightmares Trailer Rises Out of E3

Don’t judge me for my progressively cheesier article titles – trying to cover everything E3 is throwing out is beginning to burn a hole in my brain and my hands are in dire need of some Bengay. It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again. Err, sorry, what was this one about? Right! Until yesterday Xbox 360 exclusive horror title Rise of Nightmares has been pretty quiet, but with yesterday’s batch of screenshots and the debut trailer that you can feast your eyes on below we’re finally getting some light shed on this very intriguing game.

Now, you should know that Rise of Nightmares is being made for Kinect, with all its limb-flailing functionality, so you’ll need one of those to play the game. Fortunately, you still have a while to save up your hard-earned drug and/or prostitution money since the game is still a ways off (it comes out this September). READ MORE

E3: Ryse Takes Kinect Kickassery to a Whole New Level

Crytek, the developers behind Crysis 2 have unveiled their next game, the roman gladiator beat ‘em up, Ryse. Other than looking incredible, the game’s debut trailer gives us a taste of what it could look like if you were really mad at your TV and getting ready to start a fight with it. My favorite part was when he headbutted the guy, because that definitely doesn’t look weird to anyone that might be watching you play the game. Notice how he’s alone in his living room? That’s because he knows that he looks like dorky as hell. Obviously, the trailer shows no real gameplay footage (a shame really, since Crytek’s games are always stunning visually). But it still looks pretty neat.

Ryse violently tosses you into the middle of the fall of Rome, complete with riots and bloodshed galore. Obviously, it makes full use of the Xbox 360′s Kinect peripheral, something I have yet to purchase. No word on a release date, but it is Xbox 360 exclusive. READ MORE

Finally, Some Rise of Nightmares Details Arise from ESRB’s Mature Rating

For the unfamiliar, Rise of Nightmares is a Kinect-exclusive horror title that was announced at the Tokyo Game Show last year. With all of the family friendly games coming out on the platform it’s nice to see an actual horror game being made for the platform, though I hope its better than past motion-centric games we’ve seen on the Wii (like Ju-On: The Grudge). At least we now know the game is rated Mature, which essentially means Sega can get away with tossing buckets of gore, undead babies and body parts at us.

1 Finally, Some Rise of Nightmares Details Arise from ESRBs Mature Rating

Rise of Nightmares was given a Mature rating for its blood, gore, intense violence, partial nudity, strong language and suggestive themes. Sorry, no undead babies here. Head past the jump for the ESRB’s full description of all the terrifying elements we can expect to enjoy in the game when it releases later this year for the Xbox 360. READ MORE

Kinect Just Got Its First Zombie Game

Below you can see a prototype of the first zombie game coming to Microsoft’s Kinect. Obviously, this game is nowhere near finished but Zombie Holdout’s concept is rather exciting. Basically, you’re a dude who has a lot of guns and a very short wall to shoot the myriad of zombies coming at you. Even if you’re not necessarily sure about whether or not Kinect is worth its price it’s hard to deny how awesome this game will be.

It seems we’re getting a new zombie game every week with Amazing Zombie Defense, Dead Island and Class3 revealed in the last month. The quality of the aforementioned games is yet to be determined but if anything, this is a damn fine time to be a zombie fan. READ MORE

Gears Of War For The Kinect

is posting about a Gears Of War game in development for the Kinect. They have heard this from a source who is said to be close to the project. It looks to be a rail shooter, where presumably the player takes control of the gun. I’m still curious to see how it will be smoothly pulled off.
