[Random Cool] Can You Guess All The Guitarists?

Artist Maxim Dalton painted a poster of 35 of the greatest guitar players ever. While it doesn’t include some famous axe wielders (I don’t see Dimebag Darrell on there), it is a pretty comprehensive painting of guitarists who have shaped and influenced their genres. The painting was released as a limited edition poster but sold out long ago.

But what I want to know is can you identify them all! So head on below to test yourself on your guitar player knowledge! READ MORE

[WTF] KISS Releasing Limited-Edition Book At The Cool Price Of $4,300

KISS might be taking things just a little too far with their upcoming photo book KISS Monster, which features incredibly high-quality, never before seen photographs of the band through the years. Three feet tall and two and a half feet wide, this book is advertised as being as tall as a guitar. It also costs as much as a high end guitar, with a price tag of $4,299. The book will be limited to 1,000 numbered/autographed copies with a pre-launch set of 75 going for the still incredibly unreasonable price of $3,499. But hey, both prices include free shipping, so I guess whoever orders it can feel like they got a deal. If you’re at all interested, head on over to the official website for more information.

Below is a video with each band member talking a little bit about the book. Also in the video you can watch as Gene Simmons still hasn’t learned to put away his tongue. Terrible table manners, don’t you think?

Level with me readers, can any of you see this as a worthwhile investment? I personally can’t wrap my head around the price vs. content. It just doesn’t make sense to me. READ MORE

[LOL] Musicians Falling Off The Stage Set To The ‘Benny Hill’ Theme

It’s Thursday and it’s almost the weekend. Perhaps the days are dragging just a little too long for you and you need some inspiration to keep on trucking until the sweet glory of Saturday and Sunday descends upon you. Well, look no further, as Metal Injection has put together a fantastic little video of musicians and their on-stage accidental tumbles. My personal favorite is Iron Maiden‘s Bruce Dickinson who falls rather hard on his tuchus only to jam his legs into the air, spread eagle style.

You can get your laugh on below. But tell me, any of you see anything funny happen to a musician while you were at a concert? Tell me a few stories and I’ll share a few of mine! READ MORE

[Original] Why The Revolver Golden Gods Awards Show Isn’t Helping Metal

On April 11th, the Revolver Golden Gods took place, giving praise and recognition to the rock and metal community. Famous musicians, such as Dee Snider, Chris Jericho, Gene Simmons, Marilyn Manson, Slash, Amy Lee, and many more, were in attendance. It was a night meant to not only celebrate the achievements of rock and metal musicians and their offerings, but it was also a night for the fans, a way to honor their passion and their love. And it was a night that did absolutely nothing to spread the word and the importance of rock and metal. READ MORE

UK Sonisphere 2012 Cancelled: What Does It Mean?
The 2012 UK edition of the Sonisphere festival has officially cancelled this year’s performance. The touring festival is a European staple since 2009, delivering some of the biggest names in music, including the first appearance of The Big 4 (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax). While tragic that this had to happen, it speaks to a more worrisome issue regarding the music industry.

The Birthday Massacre Co-Headline Tour With Black Veil Brides

Hollywood’s standout theatrical rockers, Black Veil Brides and Toronto’s most visually stunning and musically exciting band, The Birthday Massacre (review HERE), will team up to melt faces across the United States on a twenty city co-headlining tour this fall. They’ll be making stops in Atlanta, Houston, Anaheim and Seattle. Currently headlining shows throughout the US on their “Entertainment or Death” tour, the Black Veil Brides are riding high on the success of their chart topping debut album, We Stitch These Wounds, which came in at #36 on the Billboard Top 200 and #1 on the Billboard Independent at the time of album’s release. Currently headlining a UK tour as well as a coming off a successful East Coast sweep, The Birthday Massacre have been reaping heaps of critical praise for their recently released fourth album Pins and Needles on Metropolis Records which debuted at #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart. Supporting acts on the tour will be Dommin and Aural Vampire.
Black Veil Brides was formed in 2006 when 15-year-old vocalist, Andy Six, began seeking players to create a vision of a modern day heavy metal band, combining the theatrics and passion of Misfits, Motley Crue, and Kiss, with lyrical content that pertains to the downtrodden outcasts of society. With a goal of bringing back the community and passion that was once so prevalent in rock and roll, he moved to LA in 2009 recruiting Ashley Purdy (bass), Jinxx (guitar), Jake Pitts (lead guitar), and Christian Coma (drums). With passionate hook-laden instrumentals and lyrics of hope and strength, Black Veil Brides quickly gained a dedicated following of fans averaging over 10,000 plays a day on the band’s MySpace and 13 million views of their first video for their single, “Knives and Pens”.
