Warner Bros.’ Exorcism Adventure Flick ‘Seventh Son’ Begins Filming

Principal photography is finally under way on Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures’ fantasy action adventure Seventh Son. Shooting began on March 19th under the direction of award-winning filmmaker Sergei Bodrov. As previously reported, Seventh Son stars Academy Award winner Jeff Bridges, Oscar nominee Julianne Moore, and Ben Barnes. The film’s international cast also includes Alicia Vikander, Antje Traue, Olivia Williams and Kit Harington.

Bodrov is directing the film from a screenplay by Matt Greenberg, Charles Leavitt and Steve Knight, based on the book The Spook’s Apprentice by Joseph Delaney. Here’s the film’s official synopsis as provided by Warners.

In a time long past, an evil is about to be unleashed that will reignite the war between the forces of the supernatural and humankind once more. Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges) is a knight who had imprisoned the malevolently powerful witch Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) centuries ago. But now she has escaped and is seeking vengeance. Summoning her followers of every incarnation, Mother Malkin is preparing to unleash her terrible wrath on an unsuspecting world. Only one thing stands in her way: Master Gregory.

In a deadly reunion, Gregory comes face to face with the evil he always feared would someday return. Now he has only until the next full moon to do what usually takes years: train his new apprentice, Tom Ward (Ben Barnes), to fight a dark magic unlike any other. Man’s only hope lies in the seventh son of a seventh son.

WB will release February 15, 2013. READ MORE

Bassett Speaks On ‘Silent Hill: Revelation 3D’

Bassett Speaks On Silent Hill: Revelation 3D

There have been a slew of rumors on the IMDB forums that Lionsgate will be releasing the Michael J. Bassett-directed Silent Hill: Revelation 3D on October 5, replacing the recently bumped Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D. While this may have been discussed internally, we already have debunked that rumor with the Lionsgate marketing department — hence the reason it was never reported here on the site.

Bassett has been very chatty on his official blog, even taking time to respond to reader questions. Someone asked about the delayed sequel. His response: “Oh yes, I have lots of pictures, interviews, trailers, even a finished movie … But the people who have invested their money in making this film have chosen, rightly or wrongly, to hold back the release of anything until they have a release schedule for the film they’re happy with. It is their choice and even as it’s frustrating as hell for me, I respect that this is how they wish to play it.

From this writer’s perspective, holding content until a release is solidified is smart. There’s no reason to blow your wad early, especially when it could be years before the film eventually hits theaters. We’re all dying to see some new Silent Hill content, hopefully it’ll come sooner than later. READ MORE

Kit Harington is Vincent in Silent Hill: Revelation

We’ve known for some time that Kit Harington (Game of Thrones TV series) was part of the cast of the upcoming Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, the followup to the well-received (commercially, not critically) Silent Hill back in 2006. What we didn’t know is which character Kit would be portraying in the film. Well folks, today that changes as it looks like he’ll be assuming the role of Vincent, a priest of the Order. Vincent will be undergoing some changes in Revelation and he’s also going to have a more prevalent role in the film than he did in the games.

Vincent Kit Harington is Vincent in Silent Hill: Revelation

I’ll admit I had (admittedly improbable) hopes that Cillian Murphy would be Vincent. Yes, I know that would never happen but you have to admit the guy shares a rather remarkable resemblance to Vincent. With that said I’m sure Kit will kick ass in the role. Now we just have to wait to hear who will be taking on Claudia. A few months back I offered a few possibilities for the role, just in case a certain director happens to be perusing this post.
