‘Metro: Last Light’ DLC Incoming, First Pack Available In June

Oh, you’re still here? You’re not a burning, irradiated husk right now? Good for you. In case you haven’t heard already, Metro: Last Light is like, really, really good. If you’ve beaten the game and find yourself itching — as in craving, not the itch you feel as the nuclear radiation seeps itself deep down into your bones, which it’s almost definitely doing right now — to return to the metro, soon, you’ll be able to.

4A Games is working on four A-quality (see what I did there? Professional writer here, no big deal) DLC packs, starting with the Faction pack next month. Deets after the break.

This ‘Metro: Last Light’ Launch Trailer Has A Mutant Bear

Did you hear? Metro: Last Light is out right now. If you’re not in your fallout bunker yet, it’s too late. I’d say you have just about the perfect amount of time to watch this launch trailer before you’re vaporized like that scene in Terminator 2 when the bombs drop and faces start melting. The good news is, the time it takes for a face to melt varies from person to person, so you might have enough life left in you to read my review.

I’d go on, but the Bloody Disgusting fallout shelter feels a little warm — I think TJ messed with the thermometer again — and I refuse to listen to the screams of my fellow man as each and every one of you gets turned into smoldering, crispy husks in a room that isn’t at exactly 70 degrees.

‘Metro: Last Light’ Review: Seek Shelter

In the irradiated wasteland that is the world of Metro: Last Light, your chances of getting your milk money stolen by a prostitute are about as good as your being eaten alive by one of the mutated beasts that wander about the surface as well as the labyrinthine tunnels below.

Metro 2033 may very well be one of the most underrated and, sadly, overlooked games of this generation. It’s too bad, because it excelled in areas that many other first person shooters really don’t. Its story was engrossing, it oozed atmosphere, and it had a beautifully realized world brimming with the little details that make good games great. With Last Light, developer 4A Games has decided they’re going to take it all to the next level — without the aid of a tacked on multiplayer, I might add. Let’s find out if they were successful in this endeavor.

Find Redemption In This New ‘Metro: Last Light’ Trailer

Every time I see something new from Metro: Last Light my excitement for it doubles. As a fan of the hugely underappreciated post-apocalyptic gem that was 2033, I’m very much looking forward to seeing what 4A Games does with the sequel. It looks like it will bring more of what was so great about the original — a creepy atmosphere, beautiful environments, an arsenal brimming with cool guns, monsters, mutants, ghosts (please bring back the shadow people, those were terrifying), and so much more.

If you’re as pumped as I am for Last Light, check out this incredible new Redemption trailer.

The ‘Metro Last Light’ Survival Guide Concludes With A Look At Your Arsenal

Remember people, in an irradiated, post-apocalyptic environment, good mask management is your friend. Now say it with me, “My mask is my friend,” “my mask is my friend…” Metro: Last Light’s epic trilogy of survival guide featurettes concludes today with a look at your arsenal and equipment, including your gas mask — an important feature in 2033 — wrist watch, flashlight and, of course, your guns. The shooting in the original game wasn’t great, but it sounds like significant effort is being invested into remedying that with Last Light.

The Lessons Continue In The Second Entry In ‘Metro Last Light’s’ Ranger Survival Guide

Thought that first survival guide was all you would need to survive in thee post-apocalyptic wasteland of Metro Last Light? That was only the beginning, there’s still so much more left to learn before you’re truly ready.

The second entry in Last Light’s Ranger Survival Guide shifts the focus to the enemies that inhabit this dangerous wasteland — human and otherwise — and the tactics you’ll need to use to defeat them.

Better Your Chances Of Survival By Watching This ‘Metro: Last Light’ Survival Guide

The post-apocalyptic wilderness can be a dangerous place. Not everyone has the strength, cunning and resourcefulness that’s required to survive a world like the one in Metro: Last Light. In fact, there are some of us who will almost definitely end up being among the first to fall to the mutants, bandits, radiation, irradiated mutant bandits, or any of the myriad other horrors that come with a nuclear apocalypse.

Three minutes ago I fell squarely into that category of people, but after watching the first part of this handy survival guide, I’d say I stand a good chance of lasting just a wee bit longer. If you’d like to get your learning on, I recommend checking this out.

The Future Is Bleak In This New ‘Metro: Last Light’ Trailer

Back in January, Metro: Last Light was picked up by Koch Media, parent company to Dead Island publisher Deep Silver. There are only a few short months keeping us away from the game, and I’m finding it increasingly difficult to wait.

As its name would imply, the future is decidedly grim. Metro 2033 wasn’t a very cheery game, but its sequel looks to be cranking up the depressing factor a bit more. It’s fitting, seeing as this is a post-apocalyptic game where most of humanity has been wiped out and what’s left is slowly dying underground. Even still, watching this makes me want to take a bubble bath as I listen to Carly Rae Jepsen.

Start Stocking Clean Water And Ammunition, ‘Metro: Last Light’ Arrives In May

Artyom was set to resume his post-apocalyptic journey this month, but that was before Metro: Last Light was delayed and its publisher THQ went under. It didn’t go without a home for very long, as it was purchased by Dead Island publisher Deep Silver last month for a cool $5.8MM. Now, Artyom will be returning on May 14th in the States and everywhere else on May 17th. The additional development time will go toward giving it some extra polish and optimization.

Pre-Order ‘Metro: Last Light’ For Extra Bullets, A Modified Gun, And A Special “Ranger Mode”

Oh, Metro: Last Light, why do you have to be so far away. Some say the world is ending this month, but I say the apocalypse won’t happen until March, and I cannot wait. I’m prepared, too. I have my survival plan worked out, I have a map of the Metro, and I’ve been honing my skills with various weapons in nightly Halo sessions. If you want to be as prepared as I am, you should consider pre-ordering the game.

Those who do will get the Limited Edition, which comes with the game, the Ranger load-out (extra military grade bullets!), a modified AKS-74U, and access to the “Ranger Mode.” If this interests you and you own a PS3, you can grab the digital version on PSN for a special theme and a free digital copy of Homefront when Metro: Last Light releases.

THQ Is Giving Metro 2033 Away For Free, Let’s Celebrate With A Gorgeous New ‘Metro: Last Light’ Trailer

Metro: Last Light really can’t come soon enough. Next year is already brimming with amazing games, but for me, this one’s near the top. If you never played Metro 2033, it’s a moody post-apocalyptic shooter that takes place in (and under) a post-apocalyptic Moscow. It’s visceral, gory, creepy, and often terrifying — all traits that look to be shared by the sequel. See its stunning new trailer after the break.

Watch A Guy Get The Crap Beat Out Of Him In This Final ‘Metro: Last Light’ Survivor Story

This guy used to be the Commander of the metro station. He used to have the respect of the soldiers he commanded. He also used to have a lot less bruises on him, but that was before he got the crap beat out of him for closing the doors to the metro station when the bombs fell and people wanted in. He made that call, and now he’s paying for it in blood. If you’re having a bad day, just think of this poor sap who made the call to close the doors, locking himself in with the survivors who still had loved ones outside. Watch him get kicked around in Metro: Last Light’s final survivor story, after the jump.

It Isn’t Easy Being A Supermodel In The Post-Apocalyptic World Of ‘Metro: Last Light’

The world can be a tough place for a model, or rather, it could be, should we find ourselves in the middle of a terrifying apocalypse. Publisher THQ has released a brand new live-action trailer for the game that focuses on the struggles of a fallen model, who after the apocalypse is forced into prostitution for bullets — the currency in Metro: Last Light. It’s a very cool video, if not a little uncomfortable to watch (in a good way, if that’s possible). Click that adorable Read More link to check it out, that way we can get uncomfortable together.

[13 Days Of Horror] Day 6: 12 Horror Games To Look Forward To Next Year, Part 2

If I had to use a word to describe this countdown, I’d choose epic. I might also choose foamy because that’s a word I never get to use outside of Starbucks, where I like to yell “MAKE IT EXTRA FOAMY” at the barista. Yeah, I like my foam. As great as this year has been for horror fans, 2013 looks like it might be even better. That’s crazy, seeing as we’ve had three Silent Hills, three Resident Evils, two Alan Wakes (sort of), The Walking Dead, and a bunch of other games that all released with the sole purpose of making our lives just a wee bit better. Oh, and money. Actually, that was their main purpose.

Check out our epic conclusion to our countdown of the twelve horror games you should definitely have on your radar after the break.

Feast Your Irradiated Eyes On Some Incredible ‘Metro: Last Light’ Gameplay

I’m back! What? Oh, you didn’t realize I was gone for two weeks? Well, okay, on with the news then, asshole. Metro: Last Light is one of my most anticipated games of next year, and that’s saying something for a game that’s releasing next to BioShock: Infinite and Dead Space 3. It looks fantastic, thanks to THQ’s efforts to turn it into a shooter that shooter fans who are sick of Call of Duty and its many clones can play. It’s a breath of fresh air, and I like that. Feel free to check out some fabulous ‘Welcome to Moscow’ demo after the break.

[Contest] Comment To Win Some Badass ‘Metro: Last Light’ Swag

Hey there. How are you? Good, I hope. Historically, Tuesday’s tend to be largely uneventful. That’s why I’d very much like to ninja kick that trend squarely in the jaw–because I can totally get my leg up that high, no problem–by giving away some Metro: Last Light swag. Who doesn’t like free swag? Nazis, that’s who. A few weeks ago I gave out a few codes for Metro 2033, but this week the prizes are a little more tangible. They’re things you can touch, fondle, maybe even rub your face on them a bit, no one’s judging here. Head past the jump for more.

What Did It Take To Create Metro: Last Light’s Incredible ‘Enter the Metro’ Trailer? (Spoiler: A Lot)

A few weeks back we witnessed the beginning of the apocalypse in the fantastic ‘Enter the Metro’ live action trailer for Metro: Last Light. As far as trailers go, it was a work of art, and while I really don’t need any more reasons to be pumped for Last Light–it certainly did the job. A lot of work went into making that trailer a reality, as you can see in the making of featurette after the break. The game doesn’t come out until next year, but I’ve already started packing my apocalypse survival bag. Speaking of which, anyone know where I can get a handheld Geiger counter and a military grade gas mask?

E3 2012: ‘Metro: Last Light’ Nominated For Best In Show, Looks Excellent

If the intensely creepy live action short film released last week wasn’t enough to get you pumped for Metro: Last Light, I think you’re playing a little too hard to get. Last Light seems to be impressing quite a few people at E3, as it’s received five nominations for IGN’s E3 awards, including Best in Show. We’ll have our own E3 awards up soon, and you can expect to see it nab a few nominations there as well. Metro 2033 Giveaway: What Do You Fear?

There can never be enough post-apocalyptic games set in a labyrinthine maze of tunnels below Moscow, I always say. In case you missed it back in 2010, we’re giving away three Xbox Live codes for Metro 2033–one of the most brilliantly atmospheric survival horror games I’ve ever played. It’s haunting and bleak, and it’s a game you really shouldn’t miss. As per usual, entering to win one of these codes is easy peasy; all you need to do is comment on this article telling me what you fear the most about living in an apocalyptic mutant-infested wasteland. Is it the idea of starving to death? Dying slowly of radiation poisoning? The creatures who live on the surface, itching for a chance to tear you apart? Or perhaps it’s the idea of living a life without your game console of choice? Let me know!

Feast Your Eyes On This Fantastic Metro: Last Light Short Film

Metro: Last Light really can’t come soon enough. In case you’ve been spending your days desperately searching for something, anything to help you get your post-apocalyptic, mutant-infested Moscow fix, this could be exactly what you need. The short film that was teased last week is here and it’s pretty great. Last Light doesn’t come out until next year, but I don’t mind watching this once a week to get my weekly dose of Russian horror that I can’t get from my murderous Russian roommate with the lazy eye. Also, I don’t have one of those, but if you’re a creepy Russian guy–two good eyes isn’t a deal breaker–I’m totally looking for a new roommate. Head past the break for the short film, just make sure you have some adult diapers handy for when the excess of awesome and/or terror force your bowels to explode.

This Teaser For The Metro: Last Light Short Film Is Chilling

I was afraid the Metro series would die after the fantastic, but sadly overlooked Metro 2033. Thankfully, THQ is giving us a sequel and it looks just haunting as the original. 2033 remains as one of the most atmospheric and spine-chilling games I’ve ever played, and anyone who had to silently creep past the ghosts in those empty tunnels is fully aware of just how intensely unnerving that game could be. We haven’t seen much from the game since its announcement last year, but on May 24th at 11am EST/8 am PST we’ll get what looks like a fantastically creepy live-action short film to help get us in the mood for Metro: Last Light. Head past the break for the painfully brief teaser.

Metro 2033 Getting A Much Deserved Sequel, Not Called 2034

If you missed Metro 2033 you owe it to yourself to give it a go. Just ignore what people are whining about, like the lackluster combat, and dive right in to this truly fantastic game. I’ll admit I missed it when 2033 released last year, in fact I only picked it up a few days ago out of sheer boredom and the rare time where I found myself in a game store with actual monies. Eight hours of sewer treading, mutant slaying action later and I can officially say that I’m in love with the game. Sure, the gunplay is pretty bad, sometimes awful, and the AI can easily take your ass out with a well placed headshot from no less than a mile away, but it’s still amazing. It’s also one of the most atmospheric games I’ve had the pleasure of playing in quite some time.

1 Metro 2033 Getting A Much Deserved Sequel, Not Called 2034

A sequel to the game was announced last year and it originally had the unfortunate title of Metro 2034. Thankfully, they’ve decided to go with something a little more original, and not to mention a lot less confusing, with the new title of Metro: Last Light. Not much else is known about the game other than the possibility of it also being in 3D, and that could be pretty cool (if only I was lucky enough to own a 3D TV).
