[OMFG] This Is Almost The Best Vending Machine Ever

You know what’s great about vending machines? All that delicious candy. Know what sucks about 99% of vending machines? They don’t have musical gear and accessories. But some record studio in Los Angeles (I wish I knew which one) took the smart step of fixing that problem. On top of having candy and other assorted snack delicacies, they also put in such musician necessities as drum sticks, 9V batteries, strings, guitar straps, and more. Basically, it’s the vending machine that I would want in my house. Trouble is I would always be looking under my couch cushions for spare change. And it would always be gone.

Check out the vending machine below. Oh, and reason why it’s not THE best vending machine ever? It doesn’t have Sour Patch Kids. I call total shenanigans. READ MORE

[Contest] LA Readers! See ‘Killer Joe’ Next Thursday For Free!

LD Entertainment will soon release Killer Joe, which is directed by the man behind The Exorcist and To Live And Die In LA – William Friedkin. This may not sound like a horror film to you – but it is indeed bloody and disgusting. It’s also very entertaining. I can see why some people might have issues with it (or even hate it) – it’s an absolutely bonkers movie. But it’s intense and unsettling and bold. It weirded me out more than Human Centipede but had more to say and was much more fun to watch. The final scene made me more uncomfortable than anything I’ve seen in recent memory.

The film opens in NY on July 27th and in Los Angeles on August 3rd. But if you live in LA YOU can see it early! We have 15 pairs of tickets (15 winners, each of whom can bring one guest) to give away. It takes place on Thursday, July 26th at 7:30 PM at the Arclight Hollywood (6360 W Sunset Blvd). All you have to do is be 18 years or older (the film is NC17) and be able to arrive 30 minutes early (be there by 7PM at the latest). If you’re up for that shoot us an email [email protected] and e-mail me YOUR FULL NAME.

In the film “When 22-year-old Chris (Emile Hirsch) finds himself in debt to a drug lord, he hires a hit man to dispatch his mother, whose $50,000 life insurance policy benefits his sister Dottie (Juno Temple). Chris finds Joe Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), a creepy, crazy Dallas cop who moonlights as a contract killer. When Chris can’t pay Joe upfront, Joe sets his sight on Dottie as collateral for the job. The contract killer and his hostage develop an unusual bond. Like from a modern-day, twisted fairy tale, “Killer Joe” Cooper becomes the prince to Dottie’s Cinderella.

Killer Joe stars Matthew McConaughey, Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Thomas Haden Church and Gina Gershon. It’s based on the play by Pulitzer and Tony Award winner Tracy Letts. Follow the film on Facebook or check out the Official Site.

The Guy Who Brought Us ‘Re-Animator’ and ‘Robot Jox’ Is Giving Us An Onstage “Taste”

Re-Animator Director Stuart Gordon (also of Robot Jox!) will be bringing the play “Taste” to Los Angeles. This teams him up again with producer Adam Goldworm, whom he worked with on a recent episode of “Fear Itself”. The play is written by Benjamin Brand (November), and it’s about cannibals, which is a nice emerging trend what with Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno on the horizon and all.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, “Written by Benjamin Brand, Taste is based on the true story of Armin Miewes, aka the Rotenburg Cannibal, the German man who achieved international notoriety for killing and eating a voluntary victim whom he had found via the Internet.

This definitely sounds like it’s worth a night out on the town. Plus, it’s not like this is Gordon’s first foray onto the stage. Remember “Re-Animator: The Musical”? More details as they emerge.

[Exclusive] Check Out The ‘Sketch Book’ Special Feature From The Hesher DVD

Although Hesher isn’t horror, it is full of good old fashioned heavy metal! And so to celebrate the DVD release tomorrow, BD Music has scored one of the DVD bonus features, which shows the contents of Hesher’s sketch book! You can check out this exclusive video after the jump! WARNING: Due to nudity and some dark images, this should probably be labelled as NSFW.

Official synopsis: Loud music. Pornography. Burning s*%t to the ground.  These are a few of Hesher’s favorite things. And they are what Hesher (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) brings into the lives of TJ (Devon Brochu) and his father Paul (Rainn Wilson) when he takes up residence in the garage uninvited. Grief stricken by the loss of TJ’s mother in a car accident, Paul can’t muster the strength to evict the strange squatter and soon the long-haired, tattooed Hesher becomes a fixture in the household. Like a force of nature, Hesher’s anarchy shakes the family out of their grief and helps them embrace life once more.
