The ‘You’re Next’ Trailer Is Here! And It’s Worth The Wait!!!

It’s funny – a March 28th trailer release for a movie that comes out on August 23rd is still fairly early. At least it’s not late late. Yet, because Lionsgate’s You’re Next has been anticipated for so long (due to the Summit/Lionsgate merger, not due to quality), it feels like it’s been an eternity. A lot of you have been asking us for the trailer for 18 months… so we’re just as stoked as you are that it’s finally here. And it’s great! I dig how the trailer sells the suspense and horror of the film without giving anything else away – there’s still a lot you haven’t seen (it’s relatively spoiler free in that regard). I also dig the moment when the chorus of “Perfect Day” comes back into the mix. From what I gather this is just the beginning of a pretty big marketing push.

Directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett, the duo best known for A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S and the forthcoming V/H/S/2, “You’re Next is one of the smartest and most terrifying films in years, one that reinvents the genre by putting a fresh twist on home-invasion horror. When a gang of masked, ax-wielding murderers descend upon the Davison family reunion, the hapless victims seem trapped…until an unlikely guest of the family proves to be the most talented killer of all.

Sharni Vinson (the upcoming Patrick remake), Nick Tucci (Choose, Undocumented), Wendy Glenn (11-11-11), AJ Bowen (A Horrible Way to Die, The House of the Devil, The Signal), Joe Swanberg (A Horrible Way to Die, V/H/S), Margaret Laney, Amy Seimetz (A Horrible Way to Die), Ti West (The Roost, The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers), Calvin Reeder (V/H/S, The Rambler), Larry Fessenden (Habit, The Last Winter), Kate Lyn Sheil (V/H/S), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator, From Beyond and Castle Freak) and Rob Moran all star.

Metallica To Release ‘Beyond Magnetic EP’ On CD

Metallica To Release Beyond Magnetic EP On CD
Metallica have announced that their latest EP, Beyond Magnetic, will be released on CD Jan. 31st in North America. The EP, which features four previously unreleased songs culled from the Death Magnetic recording sessions, was released digitally on Dec. 13th. Check below for the tracklisting as well as an opportunity to hear each song.
I’m personally convinced that Metallica released these songs as a response to the overwhelming backlash they received for the Lou Reed collaboration album Lulu. After all, what better way to reconnect with your fan base than to give them what they really want? That being said, the songs are actually pretty good, although I can see why they were not put on the final Death Magnetic album.

[Review] Lou Reed & Metallica ‘Lulu’

[Review] Lou Reed & Metallica Lulu
When it was first announced that Metallica and Lou Reed would be working on an album together, the music world was stunned and intrigued. After all, two music legends collaborating should result in something amazing, right? Fast forward a few months and samples of songs started to become available. The general consensus seemed to lay right around, “What in the holy hell is this?” and the lyrics became an instant Internet meme. Now, Lulu has been made available for full stream and the verdicts are rolling in. Want mine? It’s garbage. Keep reading if you want to know why I think that.

 Listen To Lulu In Full

Well people, now is the time for you to weigh in and decide whether or not you enjoy the Lou Reed/Metallica collaboration album Lulu. On their official site, you can now stream the full album. So, do me a favor and after checking it out, come back here and let me know what you think of it, would ya?

Oh, what’s that? You want to hear my thoughts? Alrighty then! I’m through the majority of the tracks and my biggest gripe is that it gets absurdly repetitive. Remember St. Anger and how the songs were basically the same riffs over and over again? Yeah, same situation here. The songs are way too long and could easily have been trimmed but for one thing: Lou Reed. Good lord sir! Would you mind speaking just a wee bit faster? I’m sure the album could’ve fit onto one CD had you picked up the pace.
Yes, there were some moments where I was really drawn in and almost hypnotized by the rhythmic repetition. However, six songs into the album and I can’t tell you which song was which (aside from The View, but that’s because I’ve been bombarded with it constantly over the past few weeks). Not a good sign fellas. Not a good sign at all.

[LOL] Lou Reed-less ‘The View’

Since the announcement that Lou Reed and Metallica were doing a collaboration album, people have been skeptical at best. Now that there are samples out of what the album will sound like, fans are not exactly please for the most part. So, some clever individual decided to put together a Lou Reed-less version of The View, leaving only the Metallica parts intact. It’s worth checking out and getting a good chuckle or two. Enjoy after the jump!

UPDATE: 90-Second Preview Of Lou Reed/Metallica Song ‘The View’ Online

Update: The full song is now available to hear after the jump.

Well, apparently the 30-second clip of Lou Reed/Metallica‘s The View wasn’t enough for you listeners out there. So, the guys have decided to put out a 90-second preview which, in my opinion, doesn’t add one single thing to the 30-second clip. Honestly, nothing new has been added except for a few lines and the music being a little big longer. That is it.

Check it out after the jump as well as the lyrics to the song.

Hear A Sample Of Lou Reed/Metallica With ‘The View’

After a few months of speculation, we are finally getting a chance to hear what the Lou Reed/Metallica collaboration sounds like in the form of a snippet. After the jump, you can hear a 30-second (or so) snippet of The View. The teaser starts out with wide open guitars and drums underneath Reed’s trademark vocals. Towards the end of the snippet, it switches over to James Hetfield’s singing while the music picks up pace. It’s weird, it’s heavy and it’s about what I was expecting.

Check it out after the jump and let me know your thoughts.

Full Track Listing For Lou Reed/Metallica ‘Lulu’ Unveiled

Loutallica (their choice, not mine) have released the full track listing for the upcoming collaboration album, Lulu, which you can check after the jump! I’m personally really excited to see that Junior Dad is nearly 20 minutes long! I’m a big fan of epic songs and Metallica has proved over the years that they can easily write solid seven to nine minute tracks. The addition of Lou Reed and his experimental stylings can (hopefully) only bolster this effort.

Check after the jump for the full track list.

Metallica Have Recorded An Album With Lou Reed (Velvet Underground)

Update: RollingStone.com has a lot more info HERE.

This is taken all directly from Metallica.com and I could not have phrased it any better, so enjoy:

A few months ago our own Kirk Hammett hinted at a new Metallica project that’s “not really 100 percent a Metallica record.” While Kirk may have jumped the gun a little (and has since been properly punished with a series of push-ups!), we are more than proud to announce that we have just completed recording a full length album that is a collaboration with none other than the legendary Lou Reed.
Ever since we had the pleasure of performing with Lou at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009, we have been kicking around the idea of making a record together.  Some of you astute Bay Area residents may have picked up news of recent Lou Reed sightings in the greater San Francisco area and we have indeed been working at our home studio at HQ on and off over the last few months.  In what would be lightning speed for a Metallica related project, we recorded ten songs during this time and while at this moment we’re not exactly sure when you’ll hear it, we’re beyond excited to share with you that the recording sessions wrapped up last week.
Metallica Have Recorded An Album With Lou Reed (Velvet Underground)
A true innovator and easily one of the most influential songwriters, musicians, and performers in rock music history, Lou’s work with the Velvet Underground and as a solo artist has such an enduring quality that he has long been revered and respected by us and many of our peers.  We can’t wait for you to listen to the finished record, so as we like to hear ourselves say around here, keep watching this spot for updates . . . we’ll be back with more details as they come together.
