Electronic group How To Destroy Angels has announced a string of N. American tour dates that include both Coachella appearances. For those of you who have been eagerly awaiting the chance to hear the new How To Destroy Angels album, your prayers have been answered. The group has teamed up with Pitchfork to stream Welcome Oblivion well in advance of its Mar. 5th release date (pre-order here). You can stream the album at Pitchfork’s new service, Pitchfork Advance, which “…allows fans to engage with album art, lyrics, credits, track listings, artist info, and more while they listen.” You can stream the album here.

Dark electronic act How To Destroy Angels has released an official video for “How Long?”, which comes off their upcoming debut full-length album Welcome Oblivion. The album will be released Mar. 5th via Columbia Records and the band will be making their first live appearance at Coachella this year.

The video was created and directed by visual arts collective Shynola. The band states, “Their work is visually striking and consistently stands out. When we started talking about possible directors to work with for “How long?”, their name came up right away. It’s been an honor to finally work with them, and to get their wholly unique interpretation of the themes we’ve been exploring with this record and this song.”

How To Destroy Angels features Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and his wife, Mariqueen Maandig, as well as longtime collaborators Rob Sheridan and Atticus Ross.

How To Destroy Angels, the project from Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and his wife Mariqueen Maandig, has released a video for “The Loop Closes”, which you can watch below. The song comes from their recent EP An Omen. I wouldn’t recommend watching it if you are prone to seizures as there are lots of flashes and color changes.

The group has also announced that they will be releasing their debut full length LP Welcome Oblivion on March 5th via Columbia Records. READ MORE

How To Destroy Angels (the band featuring Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor and wife Mariqueen Maandig) have released an official music video for “Ice Age”, which comes off their newly released An Omen EP. Directed by John Hillcoat (Depeche Mode, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds), the video is quite simplistic, showing the group performing the song in a boarded up wooden cabin and using long, drawn out shots. Update: Reznor also mentioned that he is working with Josh Homme on a Queens Of The Stone Age track as well as finalizing things for a full length How To Destroy Angels release, which will be coming out in Spring.

Earlier today, Trent Reznor took to Reddit for an AMA (Ask Me Anything) for one hour and answered several questions that have left fans delighted and, as per his usual cryptic nature, clamoring for more. Among the topics he discussed were the Fragile 5.1 reissue, Nine Inch Nails concerts, individual How To Destroy Angels tracks, and more. Reznor also hints that a future Nine Inch Nails tour could be set for 2013, although nothing has been confirmed as of yet. See below for status updates on various topics.

On the Fragile 5.1 edition: “The 5.1 mixes are done and sound amazing. Alan [Moulder] was the only person who could have possibly done it, and he did not disappoint. There are a couple other elements involved that we want to get right before we put this into production. These involve packaging and additional content. Patience, my friends.”

On how tour lighting/visuals are chosen: “I spend a lot of time and energy thinking about how music is presented live. Lights in the Sky was probably my favorite live show I’ve worked on so far. This was a real collaboration between myself, Rob, Roy Bennett, and Moment Factory. We set out to make an experience and I really felt proud to put that on every night. Cryptic additional comment: 2013.”

The EP will come out Nov. 13th via Columbia Records. You can listen to it below. [Note: I had serious trouble getting it to work in Chrome. I ended up using Safari and that fixed everything.]

How To Destroy Angels, which features Nine Inch Nails mainman Trent Reznor and his wife Mariqueen Maandig, has released “Keep It Together”, the first single from the upcoming An Omen EP, which comes out Nov. 13th. They have also made the song available for free download, so get to listening below!

The track is a stuttering, mellow, somewhat haunting piece that never really hits any sort of climax. However, it never intends to, content in being something soothing yet oddly jarring.
