‘Punisher War Zone’ Is Back Baby!

Earlier this week, Marvel began one of their infamous teaser campaigns, releasing loads and loads of teaser images, keep us all guessing as to what their next big thing would be. This time around, the teasers included pictures of fan-fav heroes like Thor, Wolverine, and Captain America bloodied and bruised, with small text that simply read, “This Is War”. While many were hoping to finally get the Ultron War, today Marvel offered a big clue that, in October, Punisher War Zone will be returning to the Marvel U. See all the pics below. READ MORE

Cullen Bunn is slowly taking over writing duties for Rick Remender on Venom. Remender birthed the black symbiote into a new era, and it’s up to Bunn to continue the series into maturity. It will be interesting to see where Bunn takes the series, especially given that he is now writing “Wolverine” (crossover potential?). Keep in mind that Remender will still have control over Flash Thompson in the pages of “Secret Avengers”. READ MORE

Best Comics Of 2011: Lonmonster’s List

I’ve been reading comics since I can remember. I recall running around my house as a little boy with a towel tied loosely around my neck, pretending to be The Dark Knight, Superman, or Thor. Suffice it to say that comic books have always been an extremely important part of my life. However, this was the first year I was able to work as a critic for BD, and what a magnificent year it has been. Having to read comics and consider which ones belong on a “Best of the Year” list was quite intimidating at first, there are so many I love, so many that truly take the medium to a new plateau.

I had my list narrowed down to about fifteen titles, but when push came to shove, what it really came down to was, which books do I always have on the top of my pile week after week? Which books am I just bursting at the seams to read? Any of the books in the top 5 could have landed the spot as number 1, proving that it has been a groundbreaking year in the comics industry.

Best Comic Covers Of 2011: KtMc’s List

As Lonmonster said below, we’ve been told a million times not to judge a book by its cover. Well, I disagree too; how else are you supposed to be introduced to books with mainly illustrations? The cover art of a print novel doesn’t always matter, because what’s inside is all writing; you’re not directed through the story by images. The cover art of a comic, however, is essentially its central image. The first impression, if you will. The cover is what first draws you in, and it all depends on who you are and what you like. It’s up to the inside to entice you to stay awhile, but that’s another article entirely. Compiled below are some of the most badass covers of 2011.

Whether they were gory, classic, funny, eccentric, or all of the above, there have been some great comics released this year. All of the titles presented above did have cool covers, but in the end, the comics inside are what won our hearts. Don’t judge a book by its cover – judge the cover and the book.

Chub Of The Day: Daredevil #7 First Look!

Mark Waid’s newest envisioning of Matt Murdock has been the talk of the town for quite some time in the comic world. Daredevil is one of few heroes who wasn’t forced into the fray of Fear Itself, and his lone adventure is one of the most original to come out of Marvel in years. GRAPHIC CONTENT PICK OF THE WEEK: Lonmonster – Venom #9

There was not much about Spider-Island that I liked aside from the Venom tie-ins (probably because Remender didn’t mix Venom into the insane fray with the rest of the Marvel heroes). The Cloak & Dagger mini was fantastic, but other than that I’m happy it’s over, happy Remender’s more-than-impressive Venom run can continue on it’s marry way. Remender has not been given nearly enough praise for his work at Marvel with Uncanny X-Force and Venom consistently being two of the best books on the stands. Die-hard Eddie Brock fans were skeptical when the series began (many still are) but Remender really gets into the nitty-gritty psychology of the symbiote, and dives headfirst into Flash’s mind. This is a Venom like we’ve never seen before, and it’s a distinct pleasure every single month. Issue 9 is a great place for new readers to hop on board before the next big arc hits in December. In The Wake Of ‘Fear Itself’ Marvel’s New ‘Ghost Rider’ Rides Alone

If we are all being honest with each other here, Marvel’s new female “GHOST RIDER” hasn’t been all that bad. The title has been a bit bogged down behind “FEAR ITSELF” since its inception, which makes us here at Graphic Content very curious as to where the story will go now that it doesn’t bare the stigma of the multi-series crossover.
