Attendants of San Antonio’s San Japan convention, which is dedicated to Japanese culture and anime, will be receiving an amazing experience as it has been confirmed that the Silent Hill Band, which is comprised of composer Akira Yamaoka, vocalist Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, drummer Joe Romersa, and bassist Troy baker, will be performing a concert! The convention takes place July 18 – 20, 2014.
San Japan Chairman Dave Henkin states, “We are quite excited to be able to bring out the infamous video game music composer to Texas. Fans of Silent Hill are in for a treat to what will be a once-in-a-lifetime concert in Texas.”
Baker is widely known to gamers for his roles in Bioshock: Infinite, The Last Of Us, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and more. McGlynn is known for her role as Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell.
If you’re going to this festival, I am insanely jealous of you. Seriously, it hurts my soul that I most likely will not be able to attend. READ MORE
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, longtime voice actress and the source of many of the more haunting vocals in every Silent Hill soundtrack since SH3 has announced she’ll be lending her voice to the upcoming Diablo III expansion, titled Reaper of Souls. In it, she’ll voice the female Crusader, a new class that’s being introduced in the upcoming expansion.
The announcement came via Twitter, where McGlynn said “I’m so excited to announce that I will be voicing the new female Crusader in Diablo III!” I don’t know about you, but I just got a little more excited for Reaper of Souls. Check out its intro cinematic after the break.
Akira Yamaoka, the composer of the first seven Silent Hill video games, Shadows Of The Damned, Lollipop Chainsaw, and more, has formed a live band that will be playing several of his compositions live. Footage of the first live event of what fans are calling The Silent Hill Band was taken at the Sept. 1st show in Glendale, AZ. You can watch the entire concert (minus the first four minutes) below and photos can be seen here.
The remaining line-up of the band features vocalist Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, a longtime regular on Silent Hill soundtracks, bassist/back up vocalist Troy Baker (who voiced Silent Hill 2′s James Sunderland in the Silent Hill HD collection), and drummer Joe Romersa, who has played on several Silent Hill soundtracks as well as laid down vocals.
I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to hear this. I’m such a Silent Hill music obsessed little fanboy. This is basically like finding out that all eight of my Hanukkah gifts are EXACTLY what I wanted. Now I just have to hope that this band will embark on a US tour and come near me. It would kinda make my dreams come true (hint hint Mr. Yamaoka).
Also, thanks have to be given to BD Infected Member AfterTheAsylum for the awesome heads up and TJ for shooting this over to me! READ MORE
