Metallica Release “Master Of Puppets” Live Performance From ‘Quebec Magnetic’

On Dec. 11th, Metallica will be releasing Quebec Magnetic, their newest live performance (available on DVD or Blu-Ray). To hype up the release and get you all a bit more excited, the band has now released the entire “Master Of Puppets” performance for you to stream and enjoy. Check it out below!

I’ll admit, watching the video, it’s plain to see that these guys still love every second of what they do, regardless of the fact that they’ve been doing it for longer than some of us have been alive. Like ‘em or not, you have to give them credit for keeping on doing what they do. READ MORE

Anthrax Discusses ‘Among The Living’ With Google Play

Anthrax caught up with Google Play to put together an audiobiography telling the story of their 1986 Gold-certified album Among The Living. Guitarist Scott Ian and singer Joey Belladonna went over the history of the album, from the recording process with famed producer Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix) to mixing in the Bahamas and the sold-out tour that followed the release. It’s a pretty damn cool interview and well worth checking out here.

Among The Living came out during what might be considered the best year in thrash metal history. Metallica‘s Master Of Puppets, Slayer‘s Reign In Blood, and Megadeth‘s Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying were all released that year.

Anthrax will be hitting the road to co-headline the third leg of the Anthrax/Testament/Death Angel tour. All dates can be seen below. READ MORE

[Original] Metallica And The Case Of The Entitled Fans

[Original] Metallica And The Case Of The Entitled Fans
I feel like I need to clear something up. You see, I’ve been kinda hard on Metallica here. I called them “average joe schmoes” in my article about how the Internet stole the mystery of musicians and I ripped Lulu apart in my review. It’s probably safe to say that were one to look solely at my articles about Metallica, you’d think I hated, or at the least didn’t think much of the band.
But this couldn’t be further from the truth. As a matter of fact, I love Metallica. They’re the band that got me into metal. Nothing Else Matters is the song that inspired me to learn the guitar and is a song I teach to each of my students. Until It Sleeps is still one of my all time favorite music videos. Simply put, I respect the hell out of these guys and rock out to their music all the time.
So why am I bringing this up? After all, I’m not here to just profess my admiration for Metallica. I can do that via Twitter, right? Well, the problem that I see is what I like to call the “entitled fan”. Need an explanation? Well, I shan’t leave my dear readers hanging!

Sure, I could’ve chosen to do ‘Master Of Puppets’, but what’s the fun there? That album has been pored over and loved since its release. I wanted to do ‘Ride The Lightning’ for a couple of reasons. First of all, some of my favorite Metallica tracks are on here. Second of all, the album was released when I was a month old, so I feel a strange connection with it. So, join me readers, as we head back to 1984 to check out Metallica’s sophomore album.
