The Black Dahlia Murder Stream New Evil Dead-Inspired Song “Raped In Hatred By Vines Of Thorn”

Detroit metal masters The Black Dahlia Murder have released a stream of a new song entitled “Raped In Hatred By Vines Of Thorn”, which comes from their upcoming album Everblack. The album is slated for release on June 11th and can be pre-ordered here.

In a recent article we posted, vocalist Trevor Strnad describes his memory of seeing the original Evil Dead and how it influenced this track: “I remember the first time I saw Evil Dead… it was at my friend’s birthday party in 7th grade. It was recommended by the same older sister that had gotten us all into punk and heavy metal music… so we knew we were in for the real deal. The movie scared the unholy 13 year old shit out of us… we were terrified. I remember the possessions really affecting me… the way the people would contort and writhe was disturbing. The possessed had that awful way that they sounded when they spoke and howled… pretty insane as well. The vine rape scene was intense… I love the idea of the forest coming alive… so much so that I wrote a song about it many years later.

Head on below to listen to the song. READ MORE

[Album Review] Purson ‘The Circle And The Blue Door’

Hailing from London, Purson is a five-piece band that seems very displaced, sounding like an amalgamation of 60’s folk and 70’s heavy metal with pinches of classic prog influences. Self described as “vaudeville carny psych”, the band has jut released their debut album The Circle And The Blue Door via Metal Blade Records, a somewhat interesting choice yet oddly fitting. But does the group pull off this style or does it fall short as something campy and trite? Find out below! READ MORE

Listen To Some New The Black Dahlia Murder With “Into The Everblack”

Metal band The Black Dahlia Murder has released “Into The Everblack”, their first single from the upcoming album Everblack (out June 11th via Metal Blade Records). The band has also released the album artwork, which was done by Nick Keller. Pre-orders for Everblack can be found here.

Vocalist Trevor Strnad elaborates on the lyrical concepts: “The opening track is the first actual song we’ve done about the Black Dahlia. This one is for the fans… they’ve been asking for this to happen for a long time. The story takes place at the Elizabeth Short’s rain drenched funeral, where her killer in attendance… just one of the many macabre tales woven into the fabric of Everblack. Subterranean flesh-farming vampires, vine rape, Jeffery Dahmer, amputation… it’s all here! With this sixth slab of sickness I tried my best to honor the band’s legacy and write lyrics that will keep the legions of horror fiends perspiring with fear.

You can listen to “Into The Everblack” below as well as check out tour dates for TBDM on the Vans Warped tour. READ MORE

['Evil Dead' Month] Members Of The Black Dahlia Murder, Paradise Lost, Napalm Death, And More Talk The ‘Evil Dead’ Films

The new Evil Dead film will be coming out next Friday and it seems like the entire horror fanbase is on pins and needles awaiting its release. To be honest, I don’t think I’ve seen such hype for a horror release since I began here at Bloody-Disgusting back in late 2009. From the look of it, it’s a film that not only respects the horror fanbase but is a film made for us. Still, having not seen the film, I can only wait with you and hope for the best.

This excitement and fervor has swept into the music world and members of some of the most extreme and intense bands out there want to share their thoughts on the original films and the upcoming remake. Head on below for thoughts from members of Paradise Lost, The Black Dahlia Murder, Monuments, Tech N9ne, Bonded By Blood, Palisades, Broken Hope, and a whole slew more! READ MORE

Six Feet Under Announce New Album ‘Unborn’: Release Lyric Video For “Zombie Blood Curse”

Death metal band Six Feet Under has announced that they will be releasing their new album Unborn on Mar. 19th via Metal Blade Records. To celebrate this announcement, the band has released a lyric video for their newest single “Zombie Blood Curse”, which you can watch below. You can also pre-order the album here.

Vocalist Chris Barnes states, “The journey to create, write, and record Undead and Unborn has been the most challenging and exciting musical endeavor and process I have ever been involved with. Working with all these amazing writers and musicians like Ben Savage (Whitechapel) on songs like Neuro Osmosis and Fragment are some of the most dynamic, beautiful, and brutal songs I’ve ever had the pleasure of putting lyrics to. I believe Ben is a true innovator of the death metal genre. It was also a lot of fun working Jari Laine from Torture Killer again. We wrote a great album together a few years back called SWARM! –one of my favorite releases I’ve been involved with– and Jari is someone who I have really wanted to work with again ever since. I wanted to revisit collaborating with Jari because of how well we work together; proof of that on Unborn are the hook heavy sounds of songs like Zombie Blood Curse and Incision.READ MORE

Moss Might Be The Slowest Doom Metal Band I’ve Ever Heard

Metal Blade Records doom trio Moss are gearing up to release their latest album Horrible Night on Apr. 2nd (pre-order here). The band comments, “We wanted to write something that would stand up over time…no disrespect to our earlier recordings – we feel the essence and atmosphere of those is still very much with us, but they were of a time and place that we’re no longer part of…” Below you can listen to the title track as well as see the album cover art and track listing.

Can we also just take a second to love the name of the album? It reminds me of Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest and the ever loved (at least by me) quote, “What a horrible night to have a curse.” God, I love that game. READ MORE

It’s hard to believe that Metal Blade Records has been around for 30 years but here they are, still rocking and bringing some of the very best metal to fans ears. To celebrate this occasion, Metal Blade teamed up with Scion A/V to bring a free showcase concert with performances from Six Feet Under, Cattle Decapitation, Battlecross, Gypsyhawk, and Pilgrim. While there, Scion A/V conducted interviews with each band as well as recorded the showcase to release a 7″ featuring a track from both Gypsyhawk and Pilgrim. You can download the 7″ below and head on over here to see some awesome interviews.

I look back at Metal Blade and, while I’ve enjoyed some of their more recent years, I cannot thank them enough for introducing me to bands like GWAR, The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, Battlecross, Mercyful Fate, and so many, many more. Metal Blade is one of those labels that didn’t just release music, they helped shaped the very foundation of metal would become.

And so I raise my official Metal Blade pint glass and say, “Congratulations Metal Blade on making it to 30 years. Here’s to another 30 of you kicking asses all over the place!” READ MORE

Ghost Streaming New Song By Revealing Each Instrument Separately Before Combining Them All Tomorrow

Ghost has also announced details regarding the sophomore album, the follow-up to 2011′s Opus Eponymous, as well as a surprise concert. You can find out more about those details here. READ MORE
