Art isn’t something that I really get to showcase much here on BD Music. So when I stumbled across an amazing rendition of The Devil And Robert Johnson, I had to share it with you. The tale goes something like this: Robert Johnson, who aspired to become a blues musician, was told to take a guitar to the a crossroad near Dockery Plantation at midnight. The Devil then appeared and a deal was struck in which Johnson was given the abilities and mastery of the guitar. The story is fairly well known and oft-parodied, such as in Metalocalypse and by Tenacious D.

Who honesty would’ve thought that a cartoon on Adult Swim would result in a real band doing real tours and releasing real albums? And yet that’s exactly what happened, resulting in Dethklok’s Dethalbum breaking records as the highest first-week album sales for a death metal act before Dethalbum II broke that record. As silly as that sounds, it’s reassuring for this metal fan to know that people can relate to metal, even if it’s in as ridiculous (read: awesome) a format as Metalocalypse.
And now the band returns with, you guessed it, Dethalbum III. Packed with 12 blistering tracks, does this album meet my expectations or fall short? Find out below. READ MORE
Okay, horrible facial disfigurement aside, someone REALLY needs to call the doctor! When your nether bits are engulfed in flames and can double as a flamethrower, my recommendation is a hefty dose of penicillin, STAT! But no, I guess that’s asking a bit too much.
In Dethklok‘s video for “I Ejaculate Fire”, a pharaoh receives a delightful “offering” from a woman who just so happens to be a demon/succubus/Smokey The Bear’s worst nightmare. From that point on, the pharaoh roams the lands, “showering” people with his flames of lust. It all comes to a header when he runs into said STD-ridden woman and a good ole’ fashioned standoff ensues. Who is the winner? Check below for the answer! But be warned! This video, even though it’s animated, is pretty NSFW. So tread carefully!
For details on the upcoming Dethalbum III, check here. Dethklok has also just announced a headlining tour with Machine Head, All That Remains, and The Black Dahlia Murder. Tour dates can be found here. READ MORE

Artist Antonio Canobbio, who did the cover art for The Dethalbum and The Dethalbum II, once again provides cover art. Below you can see the cover art as well as the official track listing (the first song makes me think someone needs to see a doctor IMMEDIATELY).

Adult Swim presented DETHKLOK on the USS Midway aircraft carrier Friday night in San Diego, CA. The world’s most brutal animated death metal band played their first live performance of 2012 as “Metalocalypse” came to life at the San Diego Comic-Con International. Those that attended the full to capacity concert enjoyed new animation and new songs from DETHKLOK’S upcoming album and a grand entrance via helicopter landing on the flight deck of the USS MIDWAY! Color me insanely jealous.
The current DETHKLOK’S touring line up consists of Brendon Small (Dethklok, Galaktikon), Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Death, Dark Angel), Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa, The Mike Keneally Band), Bryan Beller ( Steve Vai, Galaktikon). READ MORE

Easily one of the best shows on the planet, Cartoon Network has announced the fourth season return of “Metalocalypse,” the smash hit animated series on Adult Swim featuring the fictitious metal band Dethklok – featuring Nathan Explosion, Skwisgaar Skwigelf, Pickles, William Murderface, Toki Wartooth and their manager Charles Foster Offdensen – premiering Sunday, April 29 at 12:15 a.m. ET/PT.
“Brutality wields its uncomfortable deth-hammer in the fourth season of “Metalocalypse”. Excruciating horrors loom, waiting for the right moment to crush us all into a smooth repugnant paste, with very few lumps. Experience the lurking blackness of dating, the vomitous torture of job insecurity, the repulsive abhorrence of reality, the emasculating woe of dating a co-worker, and the pinching, sweaty waking DETH of flying coach. Will our beloved DETHKLOK survive these deathly trials or will they perish like a flaming serpent cast down by Odin? The Metalocalypse indeed looms nearer.”
Created by Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha (“Da Ali G Show”), the “Metalocalypse” television series launched in 2006. One of the most popular series on the cable network, “Metalocalypse” portrays DETHKLOK as a Norwegian band with unheard-of popularity, even ranking them as the seventh-largest economy on earth.
Brendon Small paired with Dethklok drummer (legendary metal drummer) Gene Hoglan (Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Fear Factory) and Dethklok bassist Bryan Beller (Steve Vai, Mike Keneally band) as well as Dethklok engineer and mixer Ulrich Wild.
The new season of Metalocalypse starts this Sunday but Adult Swim was kind enough to give us an early dose of Dethklok. The show starts it’s new 30 minute format with this season’s premiere, is 15 more minutes too much metal/blood/death?
Hot off the heels of yesterday’s release of the Goon vs. Dethklok, Dark Horse announced that they will be doing a Metalocalypse comic coming out this year. I think Dark Horse and Adult Swim are a great fit together so we’ll see how this turns out later this year. More info after the break…
