Innocence Ends With The First Official ‘Stoker’ One-Sheet

Empire has premiered the first official one-sheet for Park Chan-wook’s english-language debut, Stoker, his vampire tale penned by Ted Foulke (aka Wentworth Miller).

Miller also stars alongside Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Jacki Weaver, Lucas Till, Alden Ehrenreich, Phyllis Somerville and Dermot Mulroney.

In theaters March 1 from Fox Searchlight, “After India’s (Wasikowska’s) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother (Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.”

This is the first in a planned trilogy. Park Chan-wook is the Korean master of genre cinema having directed Oldboy, Sympathy for Mr. Vengenace and Lady Vengeance, along with Thirst and JSA. READ MORE

Fox Searchlight recently locked down a March 1, 2013 release for Park Chan-wook’s english-language debut, Stoker, his vampire tale penned by Ted Foulke (aka Wentworth Miller). Empire has premiered a really cool pencil-work poster and an accompanying video, which shows the creation of the one-sheet. That music is “Becomes The Color” by Emily Wells, which plays over the end credits and is now available in iTunes and all good digital retailers worldwide.

Miller also stars alongside Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Jacki Weaver, Lucas Till, Alden Ehrenreich, Phyllis Somerville and Dermot Mulroney.

Anton Yelchin has joined the cast of the Jim Jarmusch-directed Only Lovers Left Alive, which shoots this summer.

The film also stars Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska and John Hurt, and is the story about a centuries-long love affair between two star-crossed vampires.

The Like Crazy star just wrapped the JJ Abrams-directed Star Trek sequel and will next be seen in the Dean Koontz novel adaptation Odd Thomas. He also battled vamps in Fright Night.

Not only does Tilda Swinton (pictured inside) look like David Bowie during the peak of his career, but she also looks like a vampire, like if vampires really existed. After a wonderful career filed with critical acclaim, she’ll now fulfill her destiny and play a bloodsucker in a high profile horror drama that could bring our genre back to the Academy Awards.

THR writes that Swinton will rejoin her The Limits of Control helmer Jim Jarmusch for the director’s new film, a take on the vampire romance genre titled Only Lovers Left Alive.

Fellow Oscar-winner John Hurt, most lately of Tinker Tailor Solider Spy, Mia Wasikowska of Albert Nobbs and War Horse actor Tom Hiddleston also star in the horror drama, described as an unusual love story between two vampires who have been in love for centuries.

Jarmusch is producing Only Lovers Left Alive together with Cologne-based Pandora films. The feature has picked up $1.45 million (€1 million) in production financing from state film subsidy body Filmstifftung NRW and will shoot in the NRW region of western Germany later this year. READ MORE

Variety’s Jeff Sneider hit Twitter today with an update from the land of insect.

He explained that Universal was pushing back Spike Lee’s Oldboy late summer/early fall because of Josh Brolin’s press commitments for Men in Black 3.

He also broke the disappointing news that Clive Owen is no longer attached, stating, “Don’t think they could make the deal work…”

“ ‘Oldboy’ centers on a man (Brolin) who is kidnapped on his daughter’s birthday and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. He is eventually released and sets out on a path to take revenge on those who destroyed his life.”

The film is a remake of Park Chan-wook’s incredible Korean film, which was based on a Japanese manga of the same name written by Nobuaki Minegishi and Garon Tsuchiya. READ MORE

Another Round Of Offers For ‘Oldboy’ Remake

Another round of offers have gone out for roles in Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake as Twitch reports that Mia Wasikowska (Stoker, Alice in Wonderland) has been offered the role of Marie, the female lead of the gritty thriller. The role was previously offered to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star Rooney Mara. They also report that that the villain role has now been offered to Clive Owen (Shoot ‘Em Up, Intruders) after Colin Firth passed.

If they accept they will be playing opposite Josh Brolin in the lead as a man imprisoned against his will and with no explanation for years before he is released and sets out to find and take revenge on his captor.

Many names have been tossed around, so hopefully things will be finalized setting up a shoot early in 2012. READ MORE

A small piece of exclusive casting news as we’re exclusively told that Phyllis Somerville (“Fringe”) has joined the growing cast of Stoker, Korean director Park Chan-wook’s (Oldboy) English-language debut that will also star Wentworth Miller, Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Jacki Weaver, Lucas Till, Dermot Mulroney and Alden Ehrenreich.

Somerville will play Stoker’s housekeeper, Mrs. Garrick.

Penned by Miller on the pseudonym Ted Foulke, “It’s the story of an eccentric teen whose enigmatic and estranged uncle (Firth) who returns to the family after the death of the girl’s father.”

Miller has also written Uncle Charlie, a prequel to Stoker that explores another chapter in the history of an unusual family that has a knack for burying secrets, as well as bodies.

Dermot Mulroney (Abduction, Zodiac, The Grey) has joined the cast of Stoker, the Fox Searchlight thriller written by former “Prison Break” star Wentworth Miller.

Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode, Lucas Till and Jacki Weaver make up the ensemble cast of the pic, which begins lensing later this month in Nashville with Oldboy‘s Chan-wook Park in the director’s chair.

“The story centers on a young woman (Wasikowska) who loses her father and must contend with a mysterious uncle (Goode). Mulroney is playing the woman’s father.”

‘Stoker’ To Make Goode Casting Choice

Chan-Wook Park solidified himself as one of the best directors of the last decade with the Vengeance trilogy, along with the pretty great Thirst and I’m a Cyborg, But That’s OK. With Mia Wasikowska and Nicole Kidman set to star and brothers Ridley and Tony Scott producing, his English language debut, Stoker, is beginning to look like a star-studded event.

Last we heard, Colin Firth was being courted for the lead male role in the film, which follows a teenage girl who must deal with the unexpected appearance of a mysterious uncle while mourning the death of her father. Variety just got word that Matthew Goode is in talks for the part. I got to admit, I haven’t seen a lot of Goode’s work, but he was spot on as Ozymandias in Watchmen.

The Fox Searchlight production is set to debut sometime in 2012.

Alice in Wonderland‘s Mia Wasikowska is negotiating to star in Stoker, the Fox Searchlight thriller that will be directed by Oldboy and Thirst director Chan-wook Park. The script was written by Wentworth Miller, the “Prison Break” star who wrote under the pseudonym Ted Foulke. Ridley and Tony Scott will produce with Michael Costigan under the Scott Free banner.

Carey Mulligan had been attached when the script sold, but it be Wasikowska in the lead role when shooting begins this spring. She’ll play an eccentric teen whose enigmatic and estranged uncle returns to the family after the death of the girl’s father. Strange things begin to happen. Jodie Foster had been attached along with Mulligan, but she’s not doing the film, Deadline adds. When he sold Stoker, Miller had also written Uncle Charlie, a prequel that explores another chapter in the history of a family with a knack for burying secrets as well as bodies.
