TV: New Teaser For “Dexter” Season 7, The Dark Passenger Takes Center Stage

Now that I’m all caught up on “Dexter” I’ll be covering the upcoming seventh season. That means I’ll be sharing your pain (though hopefully the show rebounds). We know that the show will face head-on the implications of Deborah finding out that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher (as well as the implications of being in love with him). It’s this central conflict that this teaser – “Dark Passenger” – plays up.

As previously reported, Yvonne Strahovski will play Hannah McKay, a strong, independent woman with a past that she’s struggled to put behind her. As Miami Metro reopens old cases, the department turns to her for assistance as Hall’s Dexter Morgan begins to wonder if there’s more to Hannah than what she reveals. Katia Winter will play a Russian stripper who works at a Miami club and joins Season 7 newbies Jason Gedrick — who will play the manger of the same Miami strip club — and Ray Stevenson, who has been cast as the leader of a Russian organized crime syndicate.

TV: Promo For Season Seven Of “Dexter” Contains A Ton Of New Clips!

The seventh season of “Dexter” premieres on September 30th at 8/9 CST. That means it’s actually a little early to start seeing footage of any kind – but Showtime has heard your cries and has decided to assuage them! There’s a lot of new footage clips in the promo below – it’s just too bad they don’t last very long! Get ready to screengrab, I guess.

The upcoming season will trace the fallout from Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) finding out that Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is actually the Bay Harbor Butcher (and icky love interest). Yvonne Strahovski, Katia Winter, Jason Gedrick and Ray Stevenson are all joining the cast for arcs this year.

Seventh Season Of “Dexter” Scores Ally McBeal, A New Poster And A Behind The Scenes Pic

Side note, the opening titles breakfast cooking sequence from “Dexter” always makes me hungry. Why can’t I make myself a breakfast like that? Weigh in when making your comment. Now onto the news, apparently Calista Flockhart (“Ally McBeal”, The Birdcage) will be in the first episode of the Seventh Season entitled, “Are You…?”. Nicholas Vigneau will make an appearance as young Dexter with Savannah Paige Rae (“Parenthood”) as young Debra.

We also have an image below the jump from the set of third episode of the season, “Buck the System”, that Jennifer Carpenter tweeted out with the description “Two dummies waiting to shoot….” Last but not least is the first poster from the upcoming season, which Dexter Daily got their hands on.

Kicking off the first of the probable final two seasons, Yvonne Strahovski will play Hannah McKay, a strong, independent woman with a past that she’s struggled to put behind her on the Michael C. Hall-Jennifer Carpenter serial killer drama. As Miami Metro reopens old cases, the department turns to her for assistance as Hall’s Dexter Morgan begins to wonder if there’s more to Hannah than what she reveals.

As previously reported, Katia Winter will play a Russian stripper who works at a Miami club and joins Season 7 newbies Jason Gedrick — who will play the manger of the same Miami strip club — and Ray Stevenson, who has been cast as the leader of a Russian organized crime syndicate.

New TV Spot For Season 7 Of “Dexter” Teases The Brother/Sister Connection

“Dexter” returns Sunday, September 30 at 9 p.m. on Showtime and their most recent TV Spot is a vast improvement over the last one. It at least shows some footage, even if it’s not footage from the show itself. Instead, we get Deb and Dex staring longingly at each other as blood careens off the edge of a blade and drips on the floor. The spot, entitled “Truth Brings Light”, hints that this season will explore head-on the conflicts that arise after Deb admits her more-than-platonic love for Dexter – and discovers that he is indeed a killer (if not discovering that he’s the Bay Harbor Butcher outright).

Kicking off the first of the probable final two seasons, Yvonne Strahovski will play Hannah McKay, a strong, independent woman with a past that she’s struggled to put behind her on the Michael C. “Chuck” and The Canyon star Yvonne Strahovski (pictured) has found her next gig and it’s a killer.

According to THR, the actress has been tapped for a multiepisode arc on Showtime’s “Dexter,” the network announced Tuesday.

She’ll play Hannah McKay, a strong, independent woman with a past that she’s struggled to put behind her on the Michael C. Hall-Jennifer Carpenter serial killer drama. As Miami Metro reopens old cases, the department turns to her for assistance as Hall’s Dexter Morgan begins to wonder if there’s more to Hannah than what she reveals.

Katia Winter will play a Russian stripper who works at a Miami club and joins Season 7 newbies Jason Gedrick — who will play the manger of the same Miami strip club — and Ray Stevenson, who has been cast as the leader of a Russian organized crime syndicate.

Previous A-list guest stars with season-long arcs have included Jimmy Smits, John Lithgow (who took home the Emmy for his turn) and Julia Stiles.

Showtime renewed “Dexter” for two additional seasons, which will likely bring the serial-killer drama to its end.

“Dexter” returns Sunday, Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.

TV: ‘Dexter’ Producer Talks Season 7, Icky Adopted Sibling Romance!

TV: Dexter Producer Talks Season 7, Icky Adopted Sibling Romance!

Spoiler Warning.

Season six of “Dexter” ended with a shocker. Depending on your point of view, the shocker was either Debra walking in on “Dexter” mid murder, or Debra pursuing romance with her adopted brother at the advice of a professional therapist. (I was more shocked by the latter.)

Current showrunner Manny Coto met with the Television Critics Association in a cocktail reception, and he went there on both topics. First for new news. Season seven will obviously address whether Debra reports “Dexter” or keeps his secret (more likely the latter. If they can do 13 episodes on Debra arresting/chasing “Dexter”, bravo.) READ MORE

TV: Dexter Showrunner Talks Last Nights Season Finale, The Next Two Years And More!

Spoilers Ahead!!

I haven’t seen much “Dexter” since Season 4 wrapped up with Rita taking an eternal bath. I didn’t stop watching it intentionally, it’s just one of those things that got away from me. From what I’d been hearing, I was kind of glad to be taking the year or two off since it seemed that the show had jumped the shark. In fact, I think he show jumped the shark the moment it was born. It’s an inherently ridiculous concept and I’m amazed at the mileage they’ve gotten out of it. That being said, the first four seasons were fun and engaging but the sense that I’d gotten was that Seasons 5 and 6 failed to really bring it.

But the reveal of last night’s finale has me thinking the show could be escalating to a new level of pulpy trashiness – one that I could get into.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter showrunner Scott Buck recaps the events of the series finale and spills some beans about the show’s future. But they’re spoiler beans so beware! Hit the jump to check out a few quotes! READ MORE

TV: [Next On] Video Preview of Dexter 06.12, Last Nights Reaction

This is the way the world ends…

Spoiler warning: Last night’s episode of “Dexter” ended on a perplexing cliffhanger leaving the audience wondering who’s the protagonist in the ongoing battle of good vs. evil. While it’s clear that Travis Marshall (Colin Hanks) is out of his mind, he does believe he’s raging war on mankind for God, all the while Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is clearly the “Devil” in the war (although he’s our anti-hero). While we ponder the two evildoers and their relationship, the most interesting aspect of episode 06.11 was the psychiatrist suggesting to Deborah (Jennifer Carpenter) that she’s secretly in love with her (non-biological) brother. Where will Showtime take this edgy subplot in the season finale next Sunday? And more importantly, what’s going on with Louis Greene, the new crime lab intern (Josh Cooke) who’s dating Batista’s sister (Aimee Garcia)?

The show was recently renewed for another two seasons, with a hint they may be the last. Is this Louis Greene character the lead up to the end? I believe so. TV: [Next On] Video Preview of ‘Dexter’ 06.11

I’ve been seeing a lot of negativity from fans regarding this season’s “Dexter”, but I’ve been thoroughly engaged in the hunt for the “Doomsday Killer.”

With only two episodes left, Showtime has posted a preview of Episode 06.11 where Dexter (Michael C. Hall) realizes he must create a macabre tableau of his own. There have been quite a few twists and turns this season making it seem completely unpredictable. Any guesses as to where this is headed? I want to know if Deborah’s (Jennifer Carpenter) psychiatrist will play a major role in the upcoming seasons…

TV: ‘Dexter’ Building Towards Series Finale, Maybe?

TV: Dexter Building Towards Series Finale, Maybe?

When it was announced that Showtime had renewed “Dexter” for two more seasons I immediately suggested it was time to define a definitive series finale. You just can’t continue to string viewers along, expect Deborah (Jennifer Carpenter) to continue to be blind to Dexter’s (Michael C. Hall) misadventures, and water down what ultimately should be an epic conclusion.

Showtime Entertainment President David Nevins talked with EW about the season finale and the potential build for the forthcoming two seasons:

Coming back for two more years gives us clarity about how and when it will go out,” Nevins said at Showtime’s annual holiday party in Los Angeles on Thursday night. “There [are] things that are going to happen [this season] that will set up a very clear endgame that will take two seasons to tell. You have got to be there for the last two [Season Six] episodes.

Asked if Dexter will therefore absolutely conclude in the eighth season, Nevins added, “I’m never going to say ‘never,’ but everybody is operating under that assumption. Things could take a turn creatively where they come to us and say they need more time.

This is both nerve-racking and exciting. It’s nice to know they are actually building towards something, but it concerns me that they’re still thinking about leaving the door open for more. By an eighth season you’re doing your fans a disservice by pushing too hard; look at what happened with “X-Files”. READ MORE

TV: [Next On] ‘Dexter’ 06.10 “Ricochete Rabbit”

Showtime is building to their climactic finale to “Dexter” with a video preview of next Sunday’s episode 06.10 entitled “Ricochet Rabbit”.

In the episode, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) tries to figure out the Doomsday Killers’ next victim before it’s too late; Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) has a strong reaction to a crime scene, which leads her to the realization that she leans too heavily on her brother.

The show was recently renewed for another two seasons. READ MORE

TV: Dexter Renewed for Two More Seasons; Time To Set Up Series Finale?

Variety broke the news seconds ago that Showtime has renewed “Dexter” for another two seasons. They were able to add additional seasons because star and exec producer Michael C. Hall has inked a new deal to remain with the show. His previous contract expires at the end of the current season. The upcoming seventh and eighth seasons will consist of 12 episodes each.

Last year’s season five took a nosedive, while the ongoing sixth is actually pretty entertaining (even though absolutely nothing happened in this past Sunday’s episode). The biggest complaint I’ve heard is that Deborah (Jennifer Carpenter) should have caught Dexter (played by Hall) in last season’s finale. I couldn’t agree more. But for the sake of argument, I believe that Showtime needs to set a finite END to the series. The writers need to know when that is so they can begin developing for the series finale. I would prefer a solid two seasons of set up jam-packed with payoffs than an extra few years of the cabler dragging their feet. END STRONG.

TV: Full Trailer for ‘Dexter’s Sixth Season

When I posted the poster and first images this morning, I must have overlooked that Showtime had released the FULL trailer for the sixth season of “Dexter”, which returns on October 2.

As previously reported, “Battlestar Galactica”‘s Edward James Olmos, “Mad Men”‘s Colin Hanks, “Deadwood”‘s Molly Parker, “Off The Map”‘s Aimee Garcia, and “Light’s Out”‘s Billy Brown have landed major recurring arcs.

Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) spent Season Five atoning for the death of his wife, Rita. He committed to being a part of her children’s lives and entered into a deep, passionate relationship with Lumen, unlike anything he’d ever had before. But Dexter’s need to kill overpowers his desire for human connection. And now that one person knows the truth about him, and a few others are close, how much longer will America’s favorite serial killer be able to keep his dark side a secret?

[Blu-ray Review] ‘Dexter: The Fifth Season’

The third season of Showtime’s Dexter was a low-point for the series, carrying less conflict and more face-palming close calls than ever, so it makes sense that in a way, the fifth season is a redo. Deborah is still seconds behind America’s favorite serial killer as he allows his dark passenger to take hold, but it’s almost as if someone realized that having his partner-in-crime and enemy as the same character wasn’t as interesting as they hoped (Lord knows they tried by having Dexter kill Miguel Prado’s brother, causing the Assistant District Attorney to go AWOL), so they tried again by splitting them into two separate entities and casting the almost always enjoyable Julia Stiles as Lumen, his soul mate, pupil and quasi-replacement for Rita.

TV: ‘Dexter’ Gets Religious In New Promo

With True Blood flying wildly out of control this season, I find myself craving new Dexter episodes even more. In a recent interview with TV Guide, executive producer Sara Colleton revealed what kind of state of mind our favorite serial killer is going to be in during the upcoming sixth season.

We wanted to jump ahead a year and find that Dexter has gotten his groove back. He’s gotten over Rita and Lumen… There are things in life that Dexter’s dealing with and one of them is that Harrison is now 2 years old and he has to go to school. There are things that he has to start thinking about with his son, and he’s become keenly aware of what it is that he doesn’t want to pass on to Harrison, namely his Dark Passenger. But Dexter has no idea what it is that he does want to pass on.

What an odd coincidence: both big genre shows are jumping forward in time this year. At least this one probably doesn’t involve fairies.

A new promo spot also popped up online, which you can catch beyond the break.

At this point it unclear in how many episodes Mos Def will appear. But he is one of multiple recurring characters who will populate the show after the dispatching of season five guest stars including Jonny Lee Miller, Julia Styles and Peter Weller.
