New Photos Of Joel Kinnaman As ‘RoboCop’

Sony and MGM’s RoboCop reboot continues to film in Vancouver where paparazzi scored new looks at star Joel Kinnaman as the man-turned-robot.

In theaters February 7, 2014, “In RoboCop, the year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

Director Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman (“The Killing”) as the title character, Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson (Snakes on a Plane, The Avengers) as media mogul Pat Novak. Peter Weller played the character in the original and the 1990 sequel. READ MORE

[News Bites] ‘Carrie’s’ Gym Report Card; ‘RoboCop’ Armor; Sweet Teaser For ‘Dyatlov Pass Incident’

Here’s a quick news round up to get this evening party started. It begins with a look at one of Carrie’s report cards. Says the Facebook page: “Her gym teacher, Ms. Desjardin, was obviously aware that Carrie was in need of some extra attention. But did she know how much attention was needed?” Check out the report card inside. Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie, which stars Chloe Moretz as the title character alongside Julianne Moore, Alex Russell, Ansel Elgort, Gabriella Wilde, Judy Greer and Portia Doubleday, was recently moved to October 18 of this year.

Also inside, via Latino Review, you’ll find a picture of an EM-208 Humanoid Drone, which is part of OmniCorp’s product line from MGM’s RoboCop reboot/sequel in theaters February 7, 2014. Director Jose Padilha reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman as the title character, Gary Oldman as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson as media mogul Pat Novak. Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Kenneth Williams, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Michael Keaton and Aimee Garcia also star. Peter Weller played the character in the original and the 1990 sequel.

Lastly, we’ve added a Russian teaser for Renny Harlin’s The Dyatlov Pass Incident, and it looks awesome. While we don’t get too much from the Russian-language tease, the true story is off-the-charts freaky and is sure to deliver quite a punch in theaters. “It follows a group of students on a trek to investigate the true life mystery of nine Russian skiers who befell an unexplained death while skiing in the Russian mountains in 1959. To this day, their deaths have been one of the most bizarre unsolved mysteries of the 20th century.READ MORE

Also starring Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Gary Oldman, Abbie Cornish, Jay Baruchel and Jackie Earle Haley, RoboCop opens in theaters February 7th, 2014. READ MORE

Spy Nabs First Look At Alternate ‘RoboCop’ Design!

Twitter dude 81 played paparazzi scoring your first ever look at what could be the top secret new look of RoboCop!

Joel Kinnaman dons the suit in the Jose Padilha-directed reboot now rebuilding in theaters February 13, 2014.

When a follower noted they had yet to see that design online, he replied, “the whole film he will wear that one… that’s the new slick design..” As in slick new design I think he means “Halo” or “Iron Man”-inspired tin can. It makes sense though. There are multiple suits in the script – a la the first Iron Man movie – the black one we saw earlier being one of them and this one (likely) being another.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - 3

[News Bites] New ‘Apes Writers, ‘RoboCop’ Cruiser, NBC’s “Mockingbird Lane,” “Hannibal” and “Do No Harm”

Mark Bomback, whose writing credits include Live Free or Die Hard, Total Recall and the forthcoming The Wolverine, has been tapped to work on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, says THR. Matt Reeves (Let Me In, Cloverfield), stepping into the shoes originally worn by Rupert Wyatt, is directing the sequel to Fox’s 2011 hit, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, with the new movie continuing the story of how ultra-intelligent simian Caesar presides over the fall of human civilization. Andy Serkis is returning as Caesar. Fox has set a May 23, 2014, release date.

Now in theaters February 7, 2014, CBM has anded a slew of new behind-the-scenes paparazzi shots from RoboCop that feature Joel Kinnaman as the title character on his motorcycle, as well as a futuristic police cruiser. Director Jose Padilha reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman as the title character, Gary Oldman as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson as media mogul Pat Novak.

Airing October 26 on NBC is the failed pilot presentation of Mockingbird Lane, the reboot of “The Munsters” that will now air as a TV special. We’ve received the synopsis and TVLine presents the first ever cast photo. “Sweet little Eddie Munster (Mason Cook) is a normal kid about to enter the horrors of puberty. Truth is, he’s about to discover that for him becoming a teenager means growing hair in truly unexpected places — as in all over his body — every time the moon is full! Eddie’s got it pretty good though. His loving, supportive, run-of-the-mill family includes his mom Lily (Portia de Rossi), the daughter of Dracula; his dad Herman (Jerry O’Connell), who brings new meaning to “Frankenstein”; and Grandpa (Eddie Izzard), who would give Dracula a run for his money if he weren’t actually Dracula! Of course then there’s creepy cousin Marilyn (Charity Wakefield), who’s really the odd one because she’s so completely normal.” This new, reimagined version of the classic 1960’s comedy “The Munsters” is based on executive producer Bryan Fuller’s (“Pushing Daisies,” “Heroes”) script and was directed by executive producer Bryan Singer (“X-Men” film series, “House”).

Lastly, we’ve landed full synopses and banners for NBC’s “Hannibal” and “Do No Harm.” READ MORE

[Box Office] Sony Pushes Both ‘Elysium’ and ‘RoboCop’ WAY Back

Sony/TriStar has made a few major dafe shifts moving District 9 director Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium from March 1, 2013 to August 9, 2013. This can be seen as a vote of confidence in the film, maybe the execs think it can hold its own in the summertime.

In even worse news, Elysium is snatching up RoboCop‘s old slot, which MGM has pushed all the way back to February 7, 2014. This can be seen as the studio almost kind of dumping the film, which is weird since they’re still shooting. Maybe I’m wrong, but this isn’t a great sign for RoboCop.

In Elysium, “In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

With RoboCop, director Jose Padilha (Elite Squad) reimagines the tale of part man, part machine, all cop starring Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) as the title character, Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises) as the scientist who creates RoboCop, and Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) as media mogul Pat Novak. Peter Weller played the character in the original and the 1990 sequel.

‘RoboCop’ Matches His Motorcycle. Fans Will Freak Out.

They haven’t done a great job of shooting the new RoboCop movie under the radar. Filming in Toronto, Canada, there have been more than a couple dozen behind-the-scenes images leaked, most creating negative buzz. While it’s been confirmed that we’ll see “multiple” versions of RoboCop, now played by Joel Kinnaman, fans don’t seem to dig the new “black” look. It gets worse for them today when you see him on set with his black bike. I don’t overreact to set photos (remember everyone losing their shit over the Anne Hathaway Catwoman images?) as I like to reserve judgement for the final product. Either way, here are some more paparazzi photos from set…

‘RoboCop’ Director Speaks On Rumors Of Behind-the-Scenes Drama

Latino Review translated an interview over at Cinema en Cena where Jose Padilha, director of the RoboCop remake, responds to allegations made by City of God director Fernando Meirelles that he was having a horrid time with the project.

I have a script I’m happy with and I got the cast I have picked,” said Padilha in a rough translation. “The director of photography is Lula Carvalho, my editor is Daniel Rezende (City of God, Elite Squad, The Tree of Life). I was even consulted for the selection of the producers.

When asked about the rumors of him having a bad time while in pre-production for RoboCop:

We deal with those difficulties with coolness and familiarity.

Padilha obviously wouldn’t publicly slam the studio or producers – not to mention it’s not all that shocking to hear about trouble behind-the-scenes. Directors are (and should be) artists, and making a movie is a collaborative process. butting heads is part of the process, especially when you’re new.

RoboCop is being rebuilt for August 9, 2013.

Michael Keaton (AKA Batman, Beetlejuice And Ray Nicolette) To Fight ‘RoboCop’!

Michael Keaton is in talks to star opposite Joel Kinnaman, Samuel L. Jackson and Gary Oldman in MGM’s remake of Robocop, reports Variety. He will reportedly be taking over for the departing Hugh Laurie as the film’s villain. I’m not sure if this remake will be any good or not – but it will be d*mn nice to have Keaton back onscreen. He’s always a pleasure to watch and was great in The Other Guys.

Elite Squad helmer Jose Padilha is directing an origin story from Josh Zetumer’s script. Kinnaman stars as the crimefighter, a Detroit police office who’s transformed into RoboCop after he’s murdered while on duty.

Seth Grahame-Smith Says ‘Beetlejuice 2′ Is A Straight Sequel, Other Characters Possibly Returning

BeetleJuice40912 Seth Grahame Smith Says Beetlejuice 2 Is A Straight Sequel, Other Characters Possibly Returning

I met up with writer Seth Grahame-Smith (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Pride, Prejudice And Zombies) today at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills to talk about Dark Shadows. While he’s made a name for himself with his novels and has several high-profile screenplay credits on the horizon, it’s his first major release as a screenwriter. We had a nice long chat about the film, the bulk of which will be hitting later this week. But I figured I’d go ahead and share his update on Beetlejuice 2 with you guys. It’s not too much different than updates he’s offered in the past, though things seem to be progressing – and he’s acknowledging that some other favorite characters may return.

I have to ask, what’s that status of Beetlejuice 2?

The status is everyone’s waiting for me to get off my ass. I’ve met with Michael Keaton about it, I’ve met with Tim [Burton] about it. Warner Brothers is obviously eager. But right now the ball’s in my court to sort of crack the story that will make it worth of doing this again. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it to you. I don’t want to have to look fans in the face and apologize for making a bad Beetlejuice movie, because it’s one of my favorite movies. And I don’t want to make anything just because I can. I don’t think Tim would participate [with those motives in mind] and I certainly know Michael wouldn’t. If we get something worthy…

Any chance of Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis or Winona Ryder’s characters returning?

It’s all possible. In terms of the story, however many years that are between the two films will be the amount of years that are between the two story lines. It’s not a reboot or a remake, it’s a straight sequel with Michael Keaton returning as Beetlejuice.

Check back later in the week for the rest of the interview. Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows stars Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Eva Green, Chloe Moretz and Helena Bonham Carter. It opens this Friday, May 8th.

Tim Burton On Potential Return To ‘Beetlejuice’

Tim Burton On Potential Return To Beetlejuice

Last fall it was announced that Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg were attached to develop a new Beetlejuice. MTV caught up with original director Tim Burton who reveals that he’s actually considering returning to the so-to-be franchise that starred Michael Keaton as the title character.

Yes,” Burton boldly stated when asked if he’d consider doing another Beetlejuice. “I love that character, and Michael [Keaton] is so great in it. I always think about how great and fun that character was, so I just said to ["Vampire Hunter" writer] Seth [Grahame-Smith], “If you have some idea about it, go for it, and then I’ll look at it freshly.” In the past, I tried some things, but that was way back when. He seemed really excited about it.” In speaking of running his ideas by Burton, he explained, “No. I told him to try some stuff, but he hasn’t come back to me yet. Michael was so great in it. I’m sure he’d strangely tap right back into it.

The 1988 Tim Burton-directed hit starred Michael Keaton as a ghoul hired by a recently deceased couple to drive the new owners out of their house. Burton and Keaton made the movie while they were working on the studio’s first Batman film, which was released the following year. READ MORE

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 15

If you are anything like me, the above video probably tugs at your heart strings in who knows how many ways. Appearing on the VHS of Tim Burton’s Batman, the commercial was something I never skipped over, regardless of the fact that I’d seen it countless times. So, you might be asking what does this have to do with the Twisted Video Of The Week? Well, the answer lies in a single word: Prince. Below, you can watch Prince rock out Partyman, which has the artist dressed up like Joker but with makeup that almost represents Two Face. It’s a total throwback to one of my absolute favorite childhood movies.

Michael Keaton Goes A Little Bit Insane (Again) for Penthouse North!

One Michael Keaton’s best roles was as the psychotic tenant “Carter Hayes” in the 1990 theiller Pacific Heights. While not horror, it’s something we’d definitely cover here on Bloody, which is why we’re giving Dimension Films’ latest a look.

The thriller stars Michael Keaton (Pacific Heights, Beetlejuice, Batman) and Michelle Monaghan (Source Code, Machine Gun Preacher).

‘Beetlejuice II’ Not Happening Without Keaton

Beetlejuice II Not Happening Without Keaton

KatzSmith Productions, headed by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith (writer of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), has a few genre projects up their sleeves.

The most prominent, of course, is Beetlejuice II, which has been talked about ever since the first film was a big hit for Warner Bros. The duo wants to make sure everyone knows that this won’t end up becoming a remake under their watch, and Grahame-Smith said it won’t happen without Keaton.

When Warner Bros. came to us about it, we said the only way we’d do it if we got Tim [Burton’s] blessing and involvement, and we got that, and the star of the movie has to be Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, and it’s a true continuation 26 years later. Not just throwing him in as a cameo going, ‘Hey, it’s me. I endorse this movie.’ We’re not there yet [with Keaton] because we don’t have a film to present to him.

In addition to reviving the ghost with the most, they’ve got Alive in Necropolis – based on a supernatural crime novel by Doug Dorst about the real-life city of Colma,Calif., which has 1,600 living citizens, and 1.6 million bodies buried in its surrounding cemeteries – in the works, as well as Extra Curricular, a live-action TV series which is being described as “the supernatural Breakfast Club.” READ MORE
