About a sociopath who is incapable of feeling fear.
I might have hated The Rite, but I did dig 1408 and do think that Mikael Hafstrom is quite the talented director.
Heat Vision reports that Hafstrom is attached to direct the thriller Wake for Exclusive Media Group’s Hammer Films banner. Christopher Borelli and Matt Sand wrote the screenplay, “about a sociopath who is incapable of feeling fear.”
Hammer – the legendary company that’s propelled itself back into the genre limelight with both Let Me In and Wake Wood – will produce and finance the project.
Hammer also recently produced The Resident and will next have The Woman In Black, starring Daniel Radcliffe, in theaters January 20, 2012.

In Part 2 of our series on exorcisms – in anticipation of Warner Bros.’ The Rite, releasing January 28th – B-D reporter Chris Eggertsen briefly discusses how a Roman Catholic exorcism is performed, what the standards are for determining demonic possession, and the ways in which the practice endures even in modern times. Just make sure not to try this at home – these acts are to be performed by seasoned exorcists only and not attempted on younger siblings or crotchety old relatives.

I want to see another cool exorcism flick, I really do. I just really doubt anything will ever come close to The Exorcist. Maybe it was because Reagan was a young girl or because the effects were outstanding, but I would never put my money on a new studio film. With that said, I still sit in anticipation of every single exorcism-inspired film in hopes that it’ll give me a fraction of fright that William Friedkin’s 1973 classic did. On January 28th Warner Bros. will release The Rite, Mikael Hafstrom’s “true story” spin on the subgenre that stars Anthony Hopkins, Colin O’Donoghue, Alice Braga, and Ciaran Hinds.
