Pop punk band Green Day has cancelled their remaining tour dates for 2012 while postponing all early 2013 dates due to ongoing issues with singer/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong. The cancelled dates will be available for refund at point of purchase while a new set of tour dates will be released shortly for the postponed dates. All previously purchased tickets will be honored at those shows.
Bassist Mike Dirnt states, “Obviously the timing for this isn’t ideal, but Billie Joe’s well-being is our main concern. We are happy to say that Billie Joe is doing well, and we want to thank you all for the outpouring of support and well wishes that we have received, and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.”
Because of this situation, the band will be releasing ¡Tre!, the third album in their current trilogy, a month in advance, upping the release date from Jan. 15, 2013 to Dec. 11th, 2012.
Drummer Tré Cool adds, “We feel bad we have to delay our tour, so to make up for it we want to give our fans the music earlier than we had planned. If we couldn’t be there to play it for you live, the least we could do was give you the next best thing.”
