Comic Book Resources Broke The News…
“Titled “Baltimore: The Curse Bells,” the upcoming series finds Lord Henry Baltimore venturing to a secluded nunnery in Austria, where he believes Haigus, the scarred vampire who murdered Baltimore’s family, lay in hiding. There are reports, however, that the inmates of this cloister practice black magic, and that a Bavarian soldier seeking a cure for the plague of demons and vampires that cut short the Great War may also have taken up residence within.
“Baltimore” will also feature in a Free Comic Book Day flip book opposite Steve Niles’ “Criminal Macabre.” READ MORE

Mike Mignola is probably the busiest man in comics. The scribe always seems to have at least a handful of projects going all at once, but surprisingly they never seem to lack quality. That’s no easy feat especially when it comes to creating comic books. His newest project, “BALTIMORE: THE PLAGUE SHIPS”, will be releasing its second issue next Wednesday, and beyond the break you can get an advance 3 page preview of the book as well as all the details. Read on for the skinny.

“HELLBOY” is officially back this July with an all new mini-series from creator Mike Mignola and Dark Horse Comics, but things are going to be a whole lot more serious this time around. No Mexican vacations or fun in the sun for Big Red and the crew, because as Mignola leads his character out of the ‘second act’ of his life things might never be the same again. Inside you can read the 4 page preview of the first issue that starts it all on July 7th. Read on for the skinny.
Yesterday we brought you the news that Bleeding Cool was reporting that “SIMON DARK” illustrator Scott Hampton would be teaming up with “HELLBOY” creator Mike Mignola for a spin-off title based around Big Red himself later this year. Well today the website is reporting that the rumor is indeed FACT, and they have the details to back it up, including the first sketch of the character from Hampton himself. Read on for the details.
This one might just be a rumor, but it got me excited enough to share. According to Bleeding Cool News genre artist Scott Hampton (“SIMON DARK”, “SILVERHEELS”) is going to be taking on an unspecified “HELLBOY” project. Not details on the project have been released, but seeing as Mignola has stated several times that he was a big fan of “SIMON DARK (A series that was canceled far to quickly) it would make sense that the two might come together on some sort of collaborative effort. In any event, if you make the jump you can enjoy the first 9 minute episode of Hampton’s short horror film “THE TONTINE” which is based upon a story by legend Clive Barker, and filmed in the same building as “CABIN FEVER”.
I’m beginning to worry for the sanity of Mike Mignola if things continue the way they are for him this year as far as his workload is concerned. To go along with two new ‘HELLBOY’ arcs, a new “B.P.R.D” series, and an all new “ABE SAPIEN” mini with “THE ABYSSAL PLAIN”, it would seem like there is enough on his shoulders as it is. Well, apparently that’s not the case as today it was announced that the scribe would be releasing a new arc in yet another of his titles, and this time it is “BALTIMORE”. Inside you can find all the info on the title. Read on for the skinny.
Earlier in the week we brought you a preview of the final issue in the “SCORCHED EARTH” arc for Mike Mignola’s (“HELLBOY”) “B.P.R.D”, and now the writer is shedding some light on the next arc in the fan favorite series with “HELL ON EARTH”! Inside you can get all the details on the title that is slated to hit stores this August!

Inside you can read the first 2 pages (Yes, I know, such a small sample. My apologies) and get all the info on the issue before it drops this week. Read on for the skinny.
While “HELLBOY” might have a pretty big Summer ahead of him as the character looks to start a new phase of his life, let’s not forget about his blue sidekick, “ABE SAPIEN”. The character has had several very successful arc based upon him, and this June he returns with “THE ABYSSAL PLAIN”. Inside you can read all the details on the title and get a first look at some unlettered pages. Read on for the skinny.“Sapien began life as Langdon Everett Caul, a Victorian scientist and businessman who became involved with the Oannes Society, an occult organization who believed in life and all knowledge having come from the sea. After retrieving a strange jellyfish-like deity from an underwater ruin, Caul and the other members performed an arcane ritual that inadvertently ended with the creature’s release and Caul being turned into an icthyo sapien. Believing him to be Oannes reborn, the society sealed the developing icthyo sapien’s body in a tube of water in the hidden laboratory beneath a Washington, D.C. hospital until such time as he was fully formed.”

Inside you can get all the scoop on the biggest little news stories going right now such as Mike Mignola’s thoughts on a third ‘HELLBOY’ film, the disappointing opening weekend for ‘KICK-ASS’, and the dream-team crossover of ’30 DAYS OF NIGHT’ and ‘THE X-FILES’. Read on for all the news.
I have to say that for the better half of a year now the “B.P.R.D” series from Mike Mignola (“HELLBOY”) has bettered the more popular “HELLBOY”. While Big Red is still good, there seems to be something lacking in the past few arcs. But when it comes to “B.P.R.D” the series has been nothing but great fun and old school entertainment. Inside you can read the first 3 pages of the newest issue that drops this coming Wednesday as well as the full synopsis. Read on for the skinny.
All the way back in 2007 Mike Mignola (“B.P.R.D”, “ABE SAPIAN”) wrote a little story arc called “DARKNESS CALLS”. The series was said to be the beginning of the “second half” of Hellboy’s life, and in effect a new beginning. The story, that was illustrated by artist Duncan Fegredo, proved to be one of the most successful arc in the lifespan of the series and did well on its word that it would be the start of something much different for Big Red. Well with any beginning there must be an end, and even though Mignola intends to continue writing the character for years to come, this phase of Hellboy’s life seems to have finally run its course. So what’s next? The end? Read on to find out.
Today it was revealed via Dark Horse Publishing’s official website that Mike Mignola (“B.P.R.D”, “HELLBOY”) will again be bringing readers an original story arc centered around “HELLBOY” sidekick “ABE SAPIEN” titled “THE ABYSSAL PLAIN”. The gilled wiz-kid is no stranger to starring in his own offshoot titles with “THE DROWNING”, and “THE HAUNTED BOY” both under his utility belt and both having been met with much acclaim. Read on for the full skinny. “Sapien began life as Langdon Everett Caul, a Victorian scientist and businessman who became involved with the Oannes Society, an occult organisation who believed in life and all knowledge having come from the sea.
You’ve gotta love Mike Mignola (“Hellboy”) and his ‘B.P.R.D’ universe for bringing readers one of the most unique art styles in comics along with some of the most entertaining characters in circulation. (I mean, c’mon, who doesn’t find baby Hellboy’s famous pamcake scene entertaining?) Beyond the break you’ll find the three page preview of the next installment of the series due to hit stores March 10th!
