Video game developer 2K Boston, makers of “System Shock 2” and “Bioshock,” recently changed their name back to Irrational Games. In celebration they have made a new website, with incredible insight in their company. One of these insights is the addition of their podcast, ”Irrational Behavior.” In it, host Shawn Elliott interviews varied groups of development and it in they discuss the game they were making right before “Bioshock” …Zombie SWAT. Read on for the game that could have been…
We have had them up for a while, but I was actually kind of disappointed in the number of people on the BD Xbox Live leaderboards. We are at around 82,000 members on BD, but we don’t even have 1000 people signed up on the leaderboards. Now come on, I know more of you play video games than that! Get on there and show everyone your shit! It’s super easy to do, go to your profile and edit your details section. All the way at the bottom is where you enter your gamertag. It could take up to a day to show up on the boards.
You can check the current leaderboards HERE!. Where Disturbed_Dan is our number 1 gamerwhore, followed very closely by SwiftDeath2240 (Who actually hasn’t logged into BD since July…FAIL), and good friend of mine and of the Dead Pixels Dubbs, is rockin 3rd. We are also looking into doing the same thing with PS3 Trophies, and Steam Achievements. Post questions below, or post to tell me you signed up! READ MORE
It was inevitable. We knew it was coming, it was really just a matter of time. Well, now that time has come, and as gamers we may very well be the only force humanity has for countering the nearing zombie threat. In films the fat kid with a joystick in one hand and a Snickers in the other is usually one of the first to get eaten alive. We think that because he has trouble getting off the couch he couldn’t kick some undead ass if he truly wanted to. But behind that acne-ridden face is the mind of a killer, honed to perfection over years of mercilessly ripping apart zombies made up of bytes and sprites.
It’s up to us; I’m calling every nerd, geek, loner, and social outcast to ask yourself: are you adequately prepared for the coming zombie apocalypse? If you answered no, read this article and you by the time you finish you will be as prepared as I am for in it contains all my knowledge gathered over a lifetime of undead kickassery. If you answered yes, read it anyways, I could use the views. READ MORE
If you have been reading Dead Pixels for a bit you may remember a while back I posted 2 videos where the Dead or Alive girls fight it out with the Final Fantasy girls, in an all out epically amazing brawl. Well, part 3 is out, and Tifa gets a little bloody, and Materia get’s knocked around like ping pong balls. It comes from Game Trailers, by a user known as MontyOum. If you haven’t seen the 1st 2, head past the break to check them out 1st.
In case you haven’t heard, today is hug a zombie day. What does that mean exactly? It’s a day to think about all the zombies you have killed and their poor family’s as you blew their heads off with a shotgun, or threw a grenade into a crowd of the undead, only to become showered in their body parts.
Rebecca Mayes has made a musical Resident Evil 5 review video in honor of Hug A Zombie Day, and it’s pretty great and you can check it out HERE. She has been in Official Playstation Magazine and NGamer magazine and has done several other reviews such as Wii Sports and Okami – Wii
Hotel Dusk, Hello Kitty, Peggle – DS
Flower – PS3
So don’t forget to give a zombie some love today, and then when you’re hanging out with him/her, once it’s midnight, waste him. READ MORE

As most of you might know, I LOVE 1up.com. They have great news on games, great podcasts, great reviews, they’re just great all around. One of my favorite places to hide on the internet.
It’s really more weird because thinking on how terrible our economy is, and how big companies are going under, and this year we are going to start losing a lot of companies. It seems like losing 1up is like starting the 1st domino.
Well, as of only a little bit ago, UGO Entertainment and parent Hearst Corporation bought 1up.com out. Or as they call it, “acquired”. You know, like they were walking down the street, and tripped on 1up, and then snagged them off the street. Along with 1up, they also got the other sites in 1up’s network, GameVideos.com, MyCheats.com, and GameTab.com.
Now 1up and EGM Magazine are also one in the same. So what does this mean for the magazine? The last issue will supposedly be printed this month, so make sure you pick it up.
As companies usually get bought out they lay people off. The worst part about this is that they are getting rid of major writers, and employees on the website. No more podcasts. They are pillaging 1up, and setting houses on fire, and wiping out families and it makes me sick. You can see the list of those let go HERE
My partner and cohort Kiel/Reset posted a heartfelt blog for those affected. Check it out HERE. I also want to say good luck to everyone who was let go over there, and good luck in the future, my heart goes out to you all. READ MORE

So, it’s a little past it’s prime, Wired posted this article about a year ago, but hey, why not post about it and see what everyone thinks. Wired’s Clive Thompson seems to think that video games nowadays are a lot more scary than movies. I’m inclined to agree with him. I find myself getting a lot more freaked out when I shut the lights off and play a horror game than a horror movie. Maybe I’m watching the wrong movies. We’ll read his article and let me know what you think!
“Gore Is Less: Videogames Make Better Horror Than Hollywood

I’d only been playing BioShock for 15 minutes, and already I was trembling like a little girl.
It’s hard to disentangle what precisely was scaring the crap out of me. Maybe it was hearing the rumbling moans of a nearby Big Daddy, and realizing it was hunting for me. Maybe it was the way those filthy, genetically modified humans would pop out of nowhere, dressed, improbably, in Victorian clothes and creepy Eyes Wide Shut clown masks. Or maybe it was their weirdly garbled dialogue — how they’d shriek, “Get away from me!” while slashing at me with lead pipes. READ MORE
So, some of you might have read our April Fools joke last April, in which we said, Guns And Roses new album Chinese Democracy would be released for download on Rock Band. You can read it HERE. I showed a tracklist, and the final track was called April Fools Day. To indicate that yes, I was joking, well, just confirmed at E3, a new Guns And Roses song will be released for Rock Band 2. No, it’s not April, and this isn’t a joke. Perhaps if I write a news article about Kristen Bell being my girlfriend, a few months from now it’ll happen. (Kristen Bell is going to be my girlfriend) READ MORE
People, for the love of god, somebody finally posted a petition for Uwe Boll to stop making movies. We must stop him from destroying, ruthlessly destroying some of our favorite video games when he takes them into the movie world. READ MORE
It ain’t horror, but it’s pretty crazy none the less. Rock Band developer Harmonix has announced that April 8th’s downloadable content for the hit game will be the Guns n’ Roses album Chinese Democracy – in its entirety. READ MORE
I’m a HUGE Final Fantasy fan, and well, when I saw this, I almost had a heart attack. It’s an epic battle between some of the ladies of the Final Fantasies, and Dead Or Alive video games. And even more special guests you may or may not recognize. It looks amazing, and it’s creative, and it’s non stop action. I’m gonna put the videos up in SD and HD, but if your computer can support it, you HAVE to watch it in HD. Also, I’m going to post a video called Haloid, from the same guy who is on Game Trailers, called, MontyOum. Haloid is Halo and Metroid, and that’s all you need to know. And the ending, will blow your f*cking minds. Make sure you have about a half hour to watch all of these videos, because that’s about the total time to watch all 3, but once you start you wont be able to stop. READ MORE
