A love/hate relationship between a mother and daughter turns into a tale of horror when she moves out and into her first apartment. Apartments don’t kill people, people kill people.
Writer/director Michael Taverna’s Apartment 1303 3D, the supernatural remake starring Mischa Barton, Rebecca De Mornay, John Diehl and Julianne Michelle, has been picked up by Gravitas Pictures and “will be the first indie title to play in 3D in theatres and on VOD simultaneously.” The film will debut on VOD on June 17th and will be released theatrically on July 25th in 20 markets including “many 3D midnight shows. Meanwhile Koch Media is releasing the film in the UK on DVD/Blu-ray on June 3rd. They’ve cut together the following trailer, which doesn’t quite match the US one in terms of being batsh*t crazy.
In the film, “Having grown up under the controlling grip of her fame-hungry mother (Rebecca De Mornay), Janet Slate (Julianne Michelle) jumps at the opportunity to move into what looks to be a great high-rise apartment in downtown Detroit. Yet some deals are too good to be true as one night her boyfriend Mark (Corey Sevier) finds her in the middle of the street – having fallen from the balcony thirteen stories above. When her sister Lara (Mischa Barton) tries to investigate the mystery of what happened, she moves into the same apartment and encounters the odd neighbors in the building, including an eerie nine-year old girl who seems to somehow know the real reason for Janet’s fall. Lara soon realizes that her sister’s death might spell the same fate for her unless she can overcome the strange events that are terrorizing the inhabitants in Apartment 1303.” The pic is a remake of Ataru Oikawa’s 2007 Japanese supernatural thriller (based on the book of Kei Oishi) of the same name.

Set during a single horrific day and night at a high school, a guidance counselor (Barton), the school principal (Duncan) and local police officer (Sawa), must save the lives of several trapped students before a paranormal entity kills them all.
Archstone Distribution’s A Resurrection (formerly The Sibling) hits theaters tomorrow March 22nd. The film stars Mischa Barton, Final Destination‘s Devon Sawa, Jonathan Michael Trautman and the late Michael Clarke Duncan (this is actually the last film he shot).
In the film, “A down to earth school psychologist tries to help a mentally ill student who actually believes his brother is coming back from the grave for revenge on the students who killed him.”
A Resurrection was written and directed by Matt Orlando and produced by Jamie Kennedy‘s new company, Jamie Kennedy Entertainment. To that end, I hopped on the phone with Orlando and Kennedy earlier in the week to find out how they came to team up on the project. Orlando also discussed casting Mischa Barton in a more mature role, working with Michael Clarke Duncan and his next team-up with Kennedy – a “surf horror” movie called Red Water.

Mark Edwin Robinson’s I Will Follow You Into the Dark (the film’s sales agent, Epic Pictures, is selling it internationally as Into the Dark) is set to come out later this year. The film stars Mischa Barton (“The OC”, The Sixth Sense) as the troubled Sophia Monet. I recently caught up with Barton at her home to discuss the film, her character and some of the more intense moments to shoot on set.
In the film, “A young woman (Mischa Barton) who is severely depressed after the deaths of both her parents retreats within herself, only to be drawn out of her depression by an unexpected romance with a man named Adam (Ryan Eggold). After Adam mysteriously disappears into the depths of a haunted apartment building, she vows to pursue him, even if it means crossing into the world of the supernatural.” Leah Pipes and Ryan Eggold also star.

We’ve just learned that Daniel Fridell’s Apartment 1303 3D, the supernatural remake starring Mischa Barton, Rebecca De Mornay, John Diehl and Julianne Michelle, will be opening in Russia December 6. With that, new stills have arrived to go alongside a second trailer.

Something we discovered at the American Film Market last week was that Matt Orlando’s The Sibling, starring Mischa Barton, Devon Sawa and Michael Clarke Dunkan, has been renamed to Resurrection.
In addition, here’s the film’s official synopsis: “Set during a single horrific day and night at a high school, a guidance counselor (Barton), the school principal (Duncan) and local police officer (Sawa), must save the lives of several trapped students before a paranormal entity kills them all.”

When’s a ghost not scary? When it’s in daylight, looks “normal” and screams a lot.
The official YouTube channel has shared the below Cannes sales trailer for Apartment 1303 3D, the supernatural remake starring Mischa Barton, Rebecca De Mornay, John Diehl and Julianne Michelle.

The footage looks absolutely horrendous displaying way too much of the (not scary) ghost. And it’s in 3-D, which is comical in its own right. What do you guys think? The above image is pretty spooky, no? READ MORE
Wow. A lot of Mischa Barton (“The OC”) horror projects are cropping up lately. She’s got Into The Dark. She’s also got Into The Darkness. Those two are unrelated, but I like the consistency. Now we have The Sibling, which breaks from the recently established tradition of her going into the dark.
The film also stars Devon Sawa (Idle Hands, 388 Arletta Avenue) and Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile, and BC’s favorite Armageddon). There’s no synopsis, but there is a trailer. So how about this? Everyone watch the trailer – and then write your very own synopsis in the comments! See what you come up with.
Bloody Disgusting just scored two new pretty awesome sales one sheets for Daniel Fridell’s 3-D remake of Apartment 1303, which will star Mischa Barton (Homecoming, Walled In, The Sixth Sense), Rebecca De Mornay (Mother’s Day, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), John Diehl (Stargate, Jurassic Park III), Julianne Michelle (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and Robert Blanche (“Crash,” “Ghost Whisperer”).
Penned by Kei Ohishi and Michele Taverna, the redo of the 2007 Japanese flick is “a modern ghost story which turns a love/hate relationship between mother and daughter into a tale of horror. Some rentals are too good to be true.”
No word on release info, or if it has even gone behind cameras yet (I believe it’s still in pre-production).

The poster, featuring a wall coming to life, looks inspired by the infamous sequence in A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Apparently Daniel Fridell’s 3-D remake of Apartment 1303 is already casting up. The untrustworthy IMDB reports that Mischa Barton (Homecoming, Walled In, The Sixth Sense), Rebecca De Mornay (Mother’s Day, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), John Diehl (Stargate, Jurassic Park III), Julianne Michelle (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and Robert Blanche (“Crash,” “Ghost Whisperer”) have all be cast, although this should be considered RUMOR until otherwise reported.
