Fear Factory Cancel Shockwave 2012 Tour TWO DAYS BEFORE IT KICKS OFF

Fear Factory announced yesterday that the 2012 Shockwave Festival, which saw support from such acts as Voivod, Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, Revocation, and more, was fully and entirely cancelled. The reason? A combination of poor advance ticket sales and the fact that Voivod dropped off the tour was enough for promoters to pull the plug on the entire festival a mere two days before the start.

Fear Factory commented, “We are truly disappointed not to be part of the Shockwave tour. We send our sincerest apologies to all our North American fans planning to come out this Summer, but we will be back. Please look for Fear Factory headline dates in August.

The website for the Shockwave Festival shows only a single page with an explanation, apology, and refund information.

Below are some thoughts on why this tour didn’t make it. READ MORE

OMFG Of The Day: Metal Bands Explain Where Babies Come From

I could’ve sworn I did an ‘OMFG Of The Day’ to this last year. But after doing some digging, it looks like I was an idiot when this was released and passed it over. Well not again! This gem of a video popped up on Today’s Big Thing and I plan on sharing it’s joy with you all!

After the jump you can watch a video of a little kid interviewing members of Arsis, Revocation, Misery Index, Fear Factory, and Carnifex by asking the question that most parents dread: “Where do babies come from?” If you ever wanted to feel a little uncomfortable, just wait for Burton C. Bell’s explanation. I’m 27 and it still made me feel awkward. But informed. I am now aware of where babies come from.

Kataklysm Release Video For ‘Push The Venom’

Iconic Montreal based extreme metallers KATAKLYSM have made the video clip for the song “Push The Venom” available for viewing. The track comes off their new album Heaven’s Venom, which will be released on August 13th in Europe and August 24th in North America. The follow-up to 2008’s Prevail, was recorded by KATAKLYSM guitarist J-F  Dagenais (Malevolent Creation, Misery Index) and was mixed by Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Mnemic, Dark Tranquillity).
Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono: “After the crazy videos we did with EX DEO it was only natural for us to upgrade the KATAKLYSM visuals as well. We decided to try to recreate the underworld fantasy atmosphere depicted in the artwork with some great visual effects. The song is about surviving the judgment that others cast upon you, and that which is important and feels right to you. Spread your venom and not the lies of your
enemies! Ivan did another fantastic job and we are super happy with it
and hopefully you guys dig it too. See you on tour!”

The track comes from their new album Heaven’s Venom, which will be released on August 13th in Europe and August 24th in North America. “It wasn’t a hard decision for us to choose who will do the next KATAKLYSM video. As some of you know we’ve released some of the craziest videos lately with our other band Ex Deo. So we decided to give KATAKLYSM a visual masterpiece as well and hire Ivan Colic once again to direct and produce the new clip for the song ‘Push The Venom’. It’s a hard hitting track with lots of anger and power and I’m positive Ivan will give it justice. We will shoot the video right after completing the Ex Deo tour in Europe in mid July, so stand by for its premier in August!” READ MORE

In related news, Misery Index has issued an update regarding their forthcoming discography release:

“We are pleased to announce, at long last, our discography collection of splits and EPS, entitled ‘Pulling Out The Nails’ (after the first song the band wrote). It will feature 30 tracks, and include ALL non-album material from 2001-2008, including the Overthrow and Dissent EPs, as well as the splits with Structure of Lies, Commit Suicide, Mumakil, and Bathtub Shitter, the Hang em’ High 7″, live tracks, bonus covers etc. The compilation was remastered by Scott Hull this year, and will be available in January on CD through our own Anarchos Records imprint, and on double vinyl through Power It Up (Germany) soon after. This CD will also include an extensive 24 page booklet of details, notes, pictures, and an all-time list of all the shows we have performed. We hope its the final representation of the various incarnations of the band in the past 8 years.”

If anything I’m excited to see the new cover art, this band always delivers some of the coolest artwork and merch I’ve seen in a while. Check some of it out on their myspace page. READ MORE
