Absolutely Gorgeous And Violent New ‘Maniac’ Poster By Jeff Proctor!

Only 6 weeks until I can see Franck Khalfoun’s Maniac (which Mr. Disgusting calls a masterpiece), starring Elijah Wood. It hits select theaters and VOD platforms June 21. Artist Jeff Proctor has designed a new poster (courtesy of AICN) for this “modern horror classic” (review here) that’s absolutely breathtaking.

In the remake, “Just when the streets seemed safe, a serial killer with a fetish for scalps is back and on the hunt. Frank (Wood) is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill.

[Exclusive] Mondo Selling ‘The Beyond’ Soundtrack On Limited Edition Vinyl

Considered by many to be one of Lucio Fulci’s greatest films, The Beyond is a classic Italian horror film that has built a strong cult following since it’s release in 1981. Not only recognized for fantastic visuals and gore-filled murder scenes, the film also boasts the music of frequent Fulci collaborator Fabio Frizzi. Unfortunately, there has never been a proper soundtrack release, one that brings the beauty and complexity of the score to life. Until now.

Mondo has announced that tomorrow they will be selling a limited edition vinyl pressing of Frizzi’s classic score. There will only be 1500 copies (1000 on black vinyl, 500 on randomly-inserted blue vinyl). The score was remastered by James Plotkin and the design done by Rob Jones who won a Grammy for his packaging design on The White Stripes‘ “Under Great White Northern Lights” box set. The exact time that these LPs will go on sale is unknown, so it’s best to follow @MondoNews for the precise time of sale.

Mitch Putnam, art director of Mondo, states, “We’ve long been fans of Italian horror soundtracks, and The Beyond is one of the first I can remember latching onto. Frizzi’s work is the perfect backdrop to faces being melted by acid. We tried to treat the pressing with the utmost respect, we hope you enjoy it.”

New ‘Kill List’ Mondo Poster Is Awesome, Says Too Much?

KillListMondoLand13112 New Kill List Mondo Poster Is Awesome, Says Too Much?

For me, one of the pleasures Ben Wheatley’s Kill List was actually paying heed to the recommendation of those who had already seen the film that I go in absolutely blind. I’m so glad I did. It’s a great film either way, but watching it unfold without seeing a trailer or even too many stills certainly elevated the experience.

Which is why – no matter how awesome this Mondo Poster for the film is – it might be a better idea to go see the movie which it comes out this Friday (February 3rd) first. Does the poster have spoilers? Not really, and certainly not in any strict sense. But it does have information you may or may not need ahead of time.

But if you want to see it now, hit the jump to take a look. It will be on sale at Mondo Tees on February 23rd for 30 bucks. READ MORE

Comic-Con ’11: New Mondo Prints For ‘The Divide’ And ‘Cowboys & Aliens’

Earlier this week, we gave out a few tickets for a special Comic-Con screening of Xavier Gans’ The Divide, which happens to be one of my favorite genre films of 2011 so far. The one-of-a-kind viewing experience, which took place last night, was held in an environment that mimics the setting and experience of the characters in the film, who narrowly survive a nuclear attack and become holed up in a basement.

In addition to seeing the movie six months early, attendees were treated to a cocktail party and a limited edition Mondo print with artwork by Jock. We have your look at the art inside, along with Daniel Danger’s Cowboys & Aliens screen print.
