About 2 months ago I spoke of a Mortal Kombat tournament in Las Vegas. Well if you still think you’re tough shit and live in the area, your chance to sign up ends Monday May 9th. Sign up HERE if you want to show off your expert fighting skills, now that the game is out and you think you are some sort of hero.

Don’t forget, the fight stick pictured above will be used in the tournament. The tourney will be held at Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas May 14 & 15. Top contestants have a chance to win up to $21,000 in prizes. READ MORE

At MIDNIGHT 12AM PST Machinima will premiere the third episode of Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Mortal Kombat: Legacy” web series. Director Kevin Tancharoen confirmed via his twitter account today that tonight’s episode will introduce Johnny Cage, and series co-creator Ed Boon will cameo.

Based on the iconic gaming franchise, Jeri Ryan, (“Star Trek: Voyager”) will reprise her role as the headstrong “Lieutenant Sonya Blade” from the unofficial fan short. She is joined by Michael Jai White (Spawn, Kill Bill, The Dark Knight) as “Major Jackson `Jax’ Briggs” and Darren Shahlavi (300) as the sly and cunning “Kano.”

Kevin Tancharoen who directed and produced the popular, unofficial “Mortal Kombat: Rebirth” fan short that garnered over 10 million views worldwide, is bringing the same immersive directing style to this live-action digital new media series. Fans will be able to delve deep into the history of the warriors they know and love including “Sub-Zero” and “Scorpion.”

One of the grandaddies of the fighter genre has been lacking over the last handful of years. The last few games haven’t packed the same bloody punch the originals did and the last game that introduced characters from the DC Universe also lacked the series’ trademark gore. Fortunately for fans of both the series and the fighting genre, Mortal Kombat marks a triumphant return to form for the ailing franchise, including the return of many classic characters from the first three games, some of the goriest fatalities yet and more than a few original features as well.

In king of the hill you can fight several strangers or several friends to see who is the best. 1 on 1 matches for dominance. A sweet feature is the theater room. If you have ever watched a movie on your Xbox in a party you know what the theater room is. Well they integrated it unto the game, so you can throw stuff at the screen and boo or cheer others on as you watch them fight it out.

The game will have a grittier look, a couple hundred missions and all the bone breaking, spine twisting and neck snapping you can handle. Apparently, the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot will include not one, or a dozen, or even a hundred missions. In fact, we can expect a 300 mission long tower challenge that should give us plenty to do long after we’ve grown tired of tearing our opponent’s spine out. But really, when does that ever get dull?

The tower challenges start off simple enough with really basic missions that act as tutorials before getting progressively more difficult. The more difficult missions really test your skills in the form of different versions of familiar foes, removing some of your abilities or even giving your enemies extra abilities.
