5 Skull Review: ‘The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’ # 1

Books like this don’t come around often. Fabulous art, amazing characters, an intriguing story, and an irresistible premise culminate into something immaculate in Gerard Way (of My Chemical Romance) and Shaun Simon’s “The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys” #1.

Killjoys is a riveting debut issue that begs to be read more than once. So dense and packed with information; even blinking could cause you to miss a beat of the story. The blurb at the beginning tells us about The Killjoys, a beloved team of heroes who hung out with a little girl. However the Killjoys were killed. The girl lived. READ MORE

My Chemical Romace’s Gerard Way Bring ‘The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys’ To Dark Horse

Many of you were saddened by the news that My Chemical Romance decided to call the quits this March. Though I listen to My Chemical Romance from time to time, I am quite stoked about the break up because it means Gerard Way will have more time to write comics. Back in 2008, Way penned “Umbrella Academy”, which received praise across the board. Now, Way is back at Dark Horse with Shaun Simon and Becky Cloonan for “The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys”.

The first issue hits on June 6th, 2013. READ MORE

Skillet Announces New Album ‘Rise’: Unveils Details

Rock group Skillet have announced that they will be releasing their ninth studio album Rise on June 25th. The album is the followup to 2009′s Awake and is produced by Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, All American Rejects). It also serves as the band’s first concept album, telling the story of an American teenager coming into adulthood.

Bassist/singer John Cooper states, “The narrative idea happened after we had 10 or 11 of the songs chosen. As we recorded them, we started to realize that there was something going on—that the album was really telling a story. Realizing that, I knew we needed to make it as powerful as we could.

The album’s first single “Sick Of It” will be available on iTunes on April 9th. READ MORE

My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way Launches ‘The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys’ Comic In June!

When My Chemical Romance frontman turned to comic writing back in 2009, I’m not sure anyone would have guessed it would win him an Eisner Award. Now, the singer turned writer gets in gear to finally release The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys with Dark Horse Comics, taking off from their album of the same name.

The story follows the Killjoys who are in a battle against Better Living Industries. All leads to tragedy for the Killjoys, while BLI thrives in the future by taking freedom away humanity. It’s up to the final member of the Killjoys to battle back in a city full of mindless citizens. Way is joined by the team of Shaun Simon, and Becky Cloonan. Look for it in stores in June 2013. Deadmau5 Releases Fight-Filled Video For “Professional Griefers”

Deadmau5 has officially released the video for “Professional Griefers”, which comes from him upcoming album > album title goes here < , which comes out Sept. 25th (iTunes pre-order). The video, which features My Chemical Romance‘s Gerard Way, shows a massive UFC-esque battle between two giant Mau5 robots. It’s basically a snazzier looking, far more polished version of Robot Jox. It also features the guy from the Heavy Metal Tea video, which is still near and dear to my heart.

Check out the ultra-expensive (and expansive) video below! READ MORE

Deadmau5 Releases Behind-The-Scenes Shoot For “Professional Griefers” Video Feat. Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance)

Electronic superstar Deadmau5 has released a behind-the-scenes look at the shoot for the upcoming music video for “Professional Griefers”. The song comes off the upcoming album > album title goes here < (iTunes), which comes out Sept. 25th, and features Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance. The video will apparently be the highest-cost electronic music video ever and really does look like it’ll be a lot of fun. The premise is that Deadmau5 and Gerard Way are in a Max Max Thunderdome-esque cage at the controls for gigantic robots that duke it out. It’s kinda like Robot Jox (remember that movie?) meets the UFC.

You can watch the video below as well as stream the full song. READ MORE

Matt Skiba And The Sekrets Release ‘All Fall Down’

Matt Skiba And The Sekrets Release All Fall Down

Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio, theHELL) has recently announced another new project titled Matt Skiba And The Sekrets which features Hunter Burgan from AFI and Jarrod Alexander of My Chemical Romance. Along with that announcement the band released their first single “All Fall Down” which you can listen to HERE!

The song is definitely catchy and I must admit sounds a little reminiscent of Adam Ant. Or maybe it’s just because of the press photo that was released. Anyways, the band’s first full length, Babylon will be released May 8th through Superball Music. A tour is in the works so keep in touch with BD Music for further updates!

Meat Loaf Announces Tour Dates

Meat Loaf will embark on a summer North American tour beginning July 3rd in support of his star-studded forthcoming album Hang Cool Teddy Bear, it was announced today.  Meat Loaf’s new Hang Cool Teddy Bear, whose title was taken from a line in Beyond The Valley of the Dolls, was produced by Rob Cavallo and features guest appearances by Jack Black, Hugh Laurie, Kara DioGuardi, Queen’s Brian May and Steve Vai.  The highly anticipated album is due out May 11th from Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records. Free single downloads from the new album will be included in the price of the ticket in select markets.  The first single from Hang Cool Teddy Bear, “Like a Rose,” debuted on AOL’s Spinner.com last Friday.

The CD’s theme was inspired by screenwriter/director Kilian Kerwin’s story.  A soldier who has been wounded in battle thinks he is going to die.  Instead of his life flashing backward at the prospect, his life flashes forward into what could have been.  The inter-related songs are the different scenarios he finds himself in.  It’s not always the same time or place, but it is always the same woman.  The first video, “Los Angeloser,” tells a tale of a bad significant other who takes advantage of a generous lover.  (Who hasn’t been there?!)

My Chemical Romance’s Drummer, Bob Bryar, Parts Ways With The Band

A few weeks ago My Chemical Romance’s drummer Bob Bryar parted ways with the band and this wasn’t an easy parting. My Chemical Romance had this to say:

“Hello Friends,
Recently it seems as though every time we write to you guys we have bad news, and we apologize for that, but we’ve learned in life you can’t have the sweet without the sour. As a band we have been very fortunate over the years that our sweet times have greatly outweighed the sour ones, and a great deal of that is owed to you, the fans. Which is why we wanted this news to come from us and not some bullshit gossip site.”
