Extraterrestre (Alien)

There’s only one sane response when you wake up to a sky full of alien invaders – run like hell. But what do you do if the invasion starts when you’ve just met the girl of your dreams?

Julio wakes up – horribly hungover and with no memory of the night before
- next to a mindblowingly sexy girl, in a stunning apartment. She wants him to get out now but the alien invasion that’s just begun outside is the perfect excuse for Julio to stay.

And even though things are growing worse by the minute, even though
the girl’s husband has arrived on the scene… even though the alien threat is getting more and more terrifying, Julio’s clear about one thing. Just like the monstrous creatures that have traveled across galaxies to destroy Mankind, he’s here to stay.

Alternate: Julio and Julia don’t know each other, but they wake up in the same bed horribly hungover and with no memory of the night before. He falls in love with her almost immediately – she does not. The last thing they expect to discover is that an alien invasion has taken place. Vigalondo melds science fiction, romance and black comedy in his latest feature about the darkly fascinating aspects of the human psyche.

Sasha Grey Undresses For Elijah Wood In This Poster For Nacho Vigalondo’s ‘Open Windows’

Extraterrestrial and Time Crimes director Nacho Vigalondo recently wrapped Open Windows, described as an innovative, high-tech suspense thriller unfolding on the screen of a laptop connected to the Internet.

Starring Elijah Wood (Maniac) and Sasha Grey (The Girlfriend Experience, Would You Rather?), the plot revolves around a desperate search by Wood’s character for an actress (played by Grey), who has been abducted by vicious villain Chord, played by British actor Neil Maskell.

Head inside for the poster! It definitely does a nice job of selling the film as well as Wood’s new career turn into “pervy killer” territory (though it looks like he’s playing the good guy in this, maybe he doesn’t kill anybody). READ MORE

[Interview] Director Nacho Vigalondo On How Normal People Face The Apocalypse, ‘Extraterrestrial’ And ‘Windows’

Focus World will distribute Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo’s science fiction comedy Extraterrestrial in partnership with Tugg this Friday, June 15th. The movie will be released in theaters and via video on demand (VOD) and will also be available for audiences nationwide to create their own theatrical screenings through the Tugg platform. It’s a great little movie, a very charming look at what a group of people would do when faced with what might be the end of the world and how they try to go about their normal lives.

I recently hopped on the phone with Vigalondo (who also directed Timecrimes) and found him to be a delightful interview. We talked about the concepts behind the film and one of its’ core truths – when faced with destruction, most of us wouldn’t be the hero.

In the film, “When Julio wakes up in a strange apartment after a night of partying, he’s pleasantly surprised to discover it belongs to a beautiful one-night-stand he can’t remember – Julia. What’s already an awkward situation is made even more so when they discover a giant flying saucer hovering above the city, which is now deserted. Now Julio must contend with a jealous ex-boyfriend, an eccentric neighbor – and very possibly the end of the world!

In addition to the Tugg campaign, Extraterrestrial will have initial theatrical releases in select cities including Brooklyn, NY (at reRun’s Gastropub Theater) and Seattle, WA (at the Uptown Theatre) on June 15th; North Hollywood, CA (at Laemmle’s Noho 7), on June 22nd; and in Texas (at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations) in June.

Acquired! Two Comedies, Amy Heckerling’s ‘Vamps’ & Nacho Vigalondo’s ‘Extraterrestrial’

Anchor Bay Films announced today the acquisition of all North American distribution rights to the latest film by Amy Heckerling (Clueless, Fast Times at Ridgemont High), Vamps. Starring Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Batman & Robin), Krysten Ritter (“Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23,” Confessions of a Shopaholic), Wallace Shawn (Toy Story, Princess Bride) and Sigourney Weaver (Aliens, Ghostbusters), the film combines the fun of the classic hit Clueless with the tremendous popularity of vampires. A theatrical release is expected near Halloween.

Heckerling recently chatted about the comedy that follows “Beautiful vampires Goody (Silverstone) and Stacy (Ritter) have been enjoying the good life in New York City. As upstanding, politically correct Extended Life Forms (ELFs), the pair hit a support group, “Sanguines Anonymous,” to help curb the temptation of human blood in between their clubbing and dating schedules. When love steals into each of their lives, the pair’s destiny is set on a new course and they must make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality—and maybe much more.

In other acquisition news, Focus World will distribute Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo’s science fiction comedy Extraterrestrial in partnership with Tugg (which is also pushing Paramount’s The Loved Ones). The movie will be released in theaters and via video on demand (VOD) beginning Friday, June 15th, 2012, and will also be available for audiences nationwide to create their own theatrical screenings through the Tugg platform.

In Extraterrestrial, a world premiere at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival, Spanish writer/director Nacho Vigalondo follows up his cult feature Timecrimes by way of another sly and unexpected twist on a sci-fi genre – an alien-invasion tale. “Two strangers in Madrid, fresh off a one-night stand, find their morning after disrupted by a suspicious neighbor, a jealous ex, and a mysterious flying saucer suddenly hovering over the city.

Entertainment One will release Extraterrestrial on DVD later in the summer.

First Poster, Images and Plot Clarity in Pseudo-Comedy ‘Extraterrestre’

Who’s the actual alien in Timecrimes director Nacho Vigalondo’s Extraterrestre? That’s the comedic spin put to his Spanish-language thriller that’s being sold at the ongoing Cannes market.

Starring Michelle Jenner, Carlos Areces, Julián Villagrán, Raúl Cimas and Miguel Noguera, Bloody Disgusting scored not only the first official poster, but three stills from the flick that brings new meaning to “home invasion.”

There’s only one sane response when you wake up to a sky full of alien invaders – run like hell. But what do you do if the invasion starts when you’ve just met the girl of your dreams?

Julio wakes up – horribly hungover and with no memory of the night before – next to a mindblowingly sexy girl, in a stunning apartment. She wants him to get out now but the alien invasion that’s just begun outside is the perfect excuse for Julio to stay. And even though things are growing worse by the minute, even though the girl’s husband has arrived on the scene… even though the alien threat is getting more and more terrifying, Julio’s clear about one thing. Just like the monstrous creatures that have traveled across galaxies to destroy Mankind, he’s here to stay.
