[TV] Boom! “Hannibal” Renewed For A Second Season!!

Everyone’s been on pins and needles waiting to see if NBC will re-up on Bryan Fuller’s awesome (and expensive) “Hannibal”. Well… they have! Congrats to Mr. Fuller are in full order and I imagine a good deal of you should be happy! More importantly, a few more of you have to watch this thing next year (heck, you can start tonight) for a Season 3 to happen.

You also have a little bit of a wait ahead of you, the new 13 episode order will return no earlier than mid-season of next year. Maybe later. “We’re so proud of Bryan’s vision for a show that is richly textured, psychologically complex, and very compelling,” NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said. “There are many great stories still to be told.

The Thursday night series explores the early relationship between the renowned psychiatrist and his patient, a young FBI criminal profiler, who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers.

Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen, and Caroline Dhavernas all star.

[TV] NBC’s “Dracula” Unveiled! Several Looks At The Show!

NBC’s upcoming “Dracula” has unveiled several looks at the show (via EW) all of whom feature Jonathan Rhys Meyers as the titular character. Looks alright I guess in the sense that it looks like a high budget TV show. We’ll know more soon, I hope!

The series, which bypassed the traditional pilot stage, takes place in the 1890s and finds Dracula (“The Tudors’” Jonathan Rhys Meyers) living a double life in London as an American businessman interested in bringing modern science to Victorian society. But his true plan — to exact revenge on those who burdened him centuries ago — is derailed when he falls in love with Mina (“Arrow”‘s Jessica DeGouw), who seems to be a reincarnation of his dead wife. Van Helsing (Thomas Kretschmann) is a brilliant professor obsessed with revenge and power. He may be a greater threat to the public than the titular count. Katie McGrath and Nonso Anozie also star.

“Dracula,” a co-production from British Sky Broadcasting, Carnival Films & Television, Flame Ventures and NBCUniversal, hails from Tony Krantz (“24,” “Sports Night”) and former HBO Films president Colin Callender and writer-creator Cole Haddon (who will co-exec produce).

NBC plans to air Dracula in the fall of 2013. Head inside for the pics! READ MORE

Review: ‘Grimm’ #1

Hate it or love it, another TV series has been adapted to the comic medium, NBC’s Grimm. A tale that follows the detective Nick Burkhardt who also happens to be a Grimm, which means he has the uncanny ability to see the supernatural side of life. I’m not overly fond of this kind of adaptation to begin with and this book did little to impress at the start. However, the comic asserts itself near the end where there’s some underlying potential to be found. READ MORE

[TV] Next On “Hannibal” Episode 1.07 Gillian Anderson Shows Up For “Sorbet”

As is my ritual on Fridays, I need to watch last night’s episode of NBC’s “Hannibal” ASAP. In the meantime, check out Gillian Anderson as Hannibal’s shrink in this teaser for next week’s episode 1.07 “Sorbet.”

In the episode, “When the BAU investigates a murder involving organ removal Jack (Laurence FIshburne) believes that the Chesapeake Ripper may have resurfaced, but Will (Hugh Dancy) determines that the victim’s murder is the result of illegal organ harvesting accident. Meanwhile, Will suffers from nightmares where he is Abigail’s father, and Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) slowly starts to seduce Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) and begins to visit his own therapist, Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson).

[TV] Next On “Hannibal” See Eddie Izzard Play Anthony Hopkins In Episode 1.05 “Entree”

NBC’s “Hannibal” is a show that I’m definitely digging. Tonight’s episode, “Coquilles”, hasn’t aired in my time zone yet but I’m definitely digging the trajectory its on. Interestingly enough, it seems like Eddie Izzard is basically playing Anthony Hopkins’ version of the Hannibal character in next week’s episode 1.05 “Entree”, right on down to the mannerisms (not to mention the glass cell.

In the episode, “Jack (Laurence Fishburne) & Alana (Caroline Dhavernas) are contacted by a former colleague, Dr. Chilton, (Raul Esparza ) who believes he has The Chesapeake Ripper in custody, but then one of his patients commits a murder that matches The Ripper’s profile. The team determines the Ripper was a surgeon and is still at large when Jack’s former protégé Miriam (Anna Chlumsky) becomes the next victim. Jack copes with her loss and the prospect of losing his wife by opening-up to Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen).

The series focuses on the fledgling relationship between FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), his mentor.” Other key cast members include Lance Henriksen (Near Dark, roughly 8% of horror movies in general), Gillian Anderson (“X-Files”), Gina Torres (“Firefly”), “Wonderfalls”’ Caroline Dhavernas and Ellen Muth (Dead Like Me).

We’ve got another for tonight’s episode 1.03 of NBC’s “Hannibal”, entitled “Potage.”

In the episode, “Jack (Laurence Fishburne) theorizes that Abigail (Kacey Rohl) may have aided her father, Garret Jacob Hobbs (Vladimir Cubrt) in his serial killings against Dr. Alana Bloom’s (Caroline Dhavernas) advice, but at Hannibal’s (Mads Mikkelsen) behest. Abigail is escorted back to Minnesota, where she discovers much violent hostility against her and her family. Things go from bad to worse when a copycat killer murders a friend of Abigail. [TV] Next On “Hannibal”, New Clip Provides You With An Entirely New Reason To Be Murdered

NBC’s “Hannibal,” has given TVLine a new clip from their episode 1.02, titled “Amuse-Bouche.” I haven’t seen the show yet but this clip has me intrigued (along with everything else I’ve heard about it). It would definitely suck to be buried alive so you could harvest mushrooms.

In the episode, “Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), now an official special investigator with the FBI, helps Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and the BAU unit search for a murderer who buries his victims alive to grow mushrooms. In their therapy sessions, Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) begins to gain Will’s trust as they bond over responsibility for Abigail (guest star Kacey Rohl), and helps Will open up about his true feelings about killing Hobbs. Meanwhile, Freddie Lounds (guest star Lara Jean Chorostecki) snoops around the BAU’s investigation.” Caroline Dhavernas and Hettienne Park also star.

[TV] This Bloody “Hannibal” Trailer Proves Networks Are Trying To Catch Up To Cable’s Violence

First “The Following” and now NBC’s “Hannibal”. Although the Hannibal Lecter centric show has the potential to be entertaining, it’s sort of weird to see this much gore in a network show. I’m not against it by any means – I just hope they know that there are several other qualities that set the AMC and HBO slate ahead of them creatively. Anyway, this still looks like it could be pretty good.

[TV] Weigh In On This Trailer For NBC’s “Hannibal”!

Update: They’ve fixed their embed! Trailer looks fine now!

I can’t see what the hell is going on. Is it supposed to be half the frame? All jowels and jawlines? [TV] New Key Art For “Hannibal” Dry And Delicious

We’ve got some new key art for NBC’s “Hannibal” that looks sort of cool. Visually, I’d definitely say the marketing is looking to play up the campier elements of Lecter’s personality. Hey, gotta get to those people who only remember the “fava beans and a nice chianti” line from Silence Of The Lambs! We haven’t seen any of the actual show yet so the jury’s still out on that.

Mockingbird Lane - Pilot

Mockingbird Lane (The Munsters) (TV)

Sweet little Eddie Munster (Mason Cook) is a normal kid about to enter the horrors of puberty. Truth is, he’s about to discover that for him becoming a teenager means growing hair in truly unexpected places — as in all over his body — every time the moon is full! Eddie’s got it pretty good though. His loving, supportive, run-of-the-mill family includes his mom Lily (Portia de Rossi), the daughter of Dracula; his dad Herman (Jerry O’Connell), who brings new meaning to “Frankenstein”; and Grandpa (Eddie Izzard), who would give Dracula a run for his money if he weren’t actually Dracula! Of course then there’s creepy cousin Marilyn (Charity Wakefield), who’s really the odd one because she’s so completely normal. This new, reimagined version of the classic 1960’s comedy “The Munsters” is based on executive producer Bryan Fuller’s (“Pushing Daisies,” “Heroes”) script and was directed by executive producer Bryan Singer (“X-Men” film series, “House”).
