[Toys] NECA Reveals “Holographic” Versions Of ‘Prometheus’ Engineers!

While I already struggle with “space” for NECA’s cool figures, these are the days I pull my hair out in jealousy of those with basements.

Figures.com reports that NECA’s third assortment of Prometheus action figures had undergone a lineup change.

The new lineup, releasing this September, features “Holographic” versions of the Pressure Suit and Chair Suit Engineers. Using translucent blue plastic and hand-painted deco, these figures capture the holographic appearance of the Engineers as they are first seen by the crew – on the run from something terrible.

Each figure stands over 8″ tall and features over 20 points of articulation. Also, both Engineers include a brand new Ampule accessory which can be opened to reveal the mysterious contents inside. READ MORE

[Toys] Incredible New ‘RoboCop’ Toys; Camo Dutch From ‘Predator’; First Look At ‘Aliens’!

The boys at Figures have been busy unloading new looks at some insane new toys coming our way in 2013/14.

Staring with the 1987 RoboCop, Hot Toys has a plethora of goodies on the way including a a new and improved 1:6th scale action figure. The new 1:6th scale MMS202D04 RoboCop Collectible Figure is the latest addition to Hot Toys’ MMS Diecast Series in which the collectible figures are made of diecast material, specially designed to look more like the armored character in the movie. The movie-accurate RoboCop Collectible Figure is highly-detailed and features a new sculpted body, black, light grey and silver armor, interchangeable lower faces, working thigh gun holster and the ability to speak memorable quotes from the movie.

The coolest of the batch is the deluxe package of the aforementioned that includes a mechanical chair, aka the Docking Station seen in the classic 1987 sci-fi film!! It also has the ability to speak, and comes with an insane amount of extra accessories. Click here for a geek boner. Just wait until you see the below imagery.

Next up is the 1987 film’s main villain – ED-209 (also originally released in 2006) – and improving it with new sculpts, articulation and sound effects. This also has the ability to speak three memorable quotes and make sound effect from the RoboCop movie. READ MORE

NECA Reveals Jason Figure Based On Abysmal 1989 Game

I never got around to playing the NES game based on the Friday the 13th franchise, mostly because I was one year-old and that sort of game isn’t appropriate for anyone under three. Probably for the best, because I’ve since heard that it’s not all that fun to play. One year-old Adam wouldn’t have approved of those poorly conceived dodge mechanics, I can guarantee you that.

To me, the most controversial thing about it is Jason, who happens to be sporting a purple jumpsuit and neon blue mask. Jason can’t pull off those colors, he’s strictly a brown and grey sort of fellow. I fully support throwing in a muted green here and there to mix things up, but blue and purple? No sir. I’d say this guy is best left in the past, so as to keep that neon vomit away from the general public. It would seem the fine folks at NECA would disagree.

[TOYS] NECA Does Hudson, Hicks And The Xenomorph Warrior From ‘Aliens’!

When I was at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July was able to get a glimpse of Hudson from these NECA Aliens figurines but now you can catch a glimpse of a Xenomorph, Hicks and various in-process sculpts from the re-launch of their Aliens product line. Thanks to Collider for the heads up.

Per Neca, “Hicks and Hudson stand nearly 7″ tall and feature over 30 points of articulation!! The marines include signature weapons including the pulse rifle, shotgun, welder, motion tracker, and shoulder lamp. Incredibly detailed and photo realistic portrait sculpts are sure to impress. Last but not least is the all-new Aliens Warrior which stands over 9″ tall and has over 30 points of articulation including a bendable tail, hinged jaw, and sliding inner mouth. This version of the Warrior features the brown costume highlights and a glossy wet appearance.” They followed up, “there will be more than one Hicks and more than one Hudson. Different heads & different accessories. Not all released at once.

[TOYS] This NECA ‘Carrie’ Figure Has The Power To Move Bills From Your Wallet!

When I was at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July I snapped a few photos of these NECA Series 2 Prometheus and Gremlins 2 figurines, but now we have a closer look at a couple of them courtesy of Idle Hands.

The real revelation here though is the introduction of Carrie to the line, it’s not the Sissy Spacek version but the Chloë Grace Moretz incarnation from the upcoming remake directed by Kimberly Peirce. There’s a cool “before” look at her at the prom and a nice “after” once she’s covered in pig’s blood. The Carrie pieces are set to be avail in UK in Jan and in the US in February or March – right in time for the film’s opening on March 15th, 2013.

[San Diego Comic-Con '12] It Gets Even Better, NECA Reveals “Game Over Man” Hudson From ‘Aliens’ — Cpl. Dwayne Hicks Next?

While we still dream of a Ripley figure, NECA continues to do well by fans by turning away from creatures and focusing on the awesome characters that make the classic horror franchises so badass.

Just now, this very second, NECA pulled the black cloak off revealing “Game Over Man Hudson” from James Cameron’s 1986 epic Aliens, my personal all-time favorite movie. Thanks to Evan Dickson, we have your first ever look, and will be updating this post with a massive NECA image gallery loaded with everything from Gremlins to Left 4 Dead.

There are still more figures in hiding. What could be next? Dare I say the earlier teased Cpl. Dwayne Hicks (played by Michael Biehn)? We’ll update this story when the next cover is pulled off… READ MORE

[SDCC '12] NECA Exclusives: Sky Ash & Cloaked City Hunter Predator!

Picture 16 [SDCC 12] NECA Exclusives: Sky Ash & Cloaked City Hunter Predator!

NECA announced a limited edition “Ash” action figure for this July’s San Diego Comic Con: “Hard to believe, but it’s been 25 years since director Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead 2 was released. One of the best cult horror films of all time, it introduced us to the Deadites, the Necronomicon, and most of all, to Bruce Campbell’s character, Ash, the wise-crackin’ S-Mart employee who saws off his own hand and replaces it with a chainsaw. He’s one of our all-time favorite cinematic heroes. How could he not be? Who wouldn’t love that face?

Hero from the Sky Ash captures the young Mr. Campbell as he was at the end of the film. Bloodied, haggard, confused, having killed his girlfriend and a Deadite version of himself, terrified and mysteriously transported through time, Ash emerged in what would become the setting for Army of Darkness and was faced with a whole new round of Deadites to re-kill.

We’ve done Ash before in a series of Evil Dead 2 7″ action figures, but Hero from the Sky Ash — aside from being SDCC exclusive — perfectly captures one of the most important moments in Evil Dead 2. A sepia-toned paint job brings out not just nostalgia for the 25th Anniversary of Evil Dead 2 but also the desert Ash found himself (and his car, oddly enough) transported to. Just look at the surprise on that face.

But Ash here is more than just a great chin! Check out our Hero from the Sky’s full articulation below!” There’s also info on another SDCC exclusive, the “Cloaked City Hunter Predator“. READ MORE

[Toys] NECA Announces Hicks, Possible New Queen

[Toys] NECA Announces Hicks, Possible New Queen

Even though the New York Toy Fair has come to an end, NECA continues to announce a rash of shocking new products.

While we already knew a Prometheus line was on the way, along with a new “Warrior Alien” from Aliens, details were beyond slim.

This weekend NECA took to their official website to clarify said reveals, while also announcing that we’ll finally get a Corporal Dwayne Hicks along with another soon-to-be-announced Colonial Marine! They also reveal that a Queen Alien could be in the works for 2013.

Even with all of this, I don’t understand why we still don’t have any Ellen Ripley figures? I mean, Mattel just announced a Dana figure for their Ghostbusters line, therefore she’s willing to share her likeness… READ MORE

[Toys] Meet A Burly Ash In Previously Unannounced ‘Evil Dead 2′ Figure!

[Toys] Meet A Burly Ash In Previously Unannounced Evil Dead 2 Figure!

We missed something this “Ash” Wednesday when NECA took to Twitter to reveal an unannounced, previously top-secret action figure from the forthcoming Evil Dead 2 line.

Apparently, the toy company has been hard at work on a “Sepia tone” Ash chainsaw figurine. He rocks his trusty “boomstick”, chainsaw and streak of white hair (oh, the horror!). He comes standing on a pretty sweet base, too.

NECA didn’t reveal the release date for the figure, so it’s unclear if it will be a series 1 or 2 varient. Either way it’s a must-have. We teased series 2 out of Toy Fair earlier this month, with full details on the soon-to-be-released series 1 here. READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] NECA Announces Reese, ‘Aliens’ & Colonial Marines

[Toy Fair 12] NECA Announces Reese, Aliens & Colonial Marines

In addition to making action figures based on Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, NECA is heading into James Cameron territory as they announced at Toy Fair rights to a slew of new sci-fi horror toys.

First up, we’ll finally see a “Kyle Reese” (played by Michael Biehn) action figure based on the 1984 The Terminator.

NECA has also announced a new Aliens “Warrior” featuring more articulation and removable limbs.

Lastly, the toy company will release a line based on the forthcoming video game “Aliens: Colonial Marines”. In development by Gearbox Software, it is to be published by Sega for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Wii U and Xbox 360. The game is a first-person shooter based on the characters and creatures of the Alien franchise, particularly the film Aliens. It is slated for a fall 2012 release. READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] Meet NECA’s New ‘Jason Voorhees’ Figures!

[Toy Fair 12] Meet NECAs New Jason Voorhees Figures!

It was the end of Jason Voorhees, at least until Jason Lives. NECA has unveiled an incredible new Jason figure inspired by Friday the 13th IV: The Final Chapter. The toy features the infamous machete wound to the head, with machete, knife and axe accessories. Oh, and his mask comes off to displays the exact same wound in Jason’s ugly mug. Geek boner? Yes please. Now all we need is a little Tommy Jarvis accessory!

In addition, they’ve also revealed a Jason from Friday the 13th Part 3, which features good ol’ Jason donning his mask for the first time. It comes with a harpoon accessory (you can shoot it in your eye just like in 3-D!) and varient mask.

[Toy Fair '12] NECA Round Up: ‘RoboCop,’ ‘Gremlins,’ ‘Resident Evil’ & ‘E.T.’

[Toy Fair 12] NECA Round Up: RoboCop, Gremlins, Resident Evil & E.T.

Rounding out the big reveals from the New York Toy Fair, NECA has gone hog wild with the franchises starting with the killer new E.T. line. There are a handful of versions, but unfortunately no Elliott to punch in the face.

NECA continues to dive deeper into their Gremlins line, which fills me with rage that I’m broke and don’t have a 30 room house to put all of these toys in. There’s a handful of new Mogwai toys, alongside new Gremlins such as the electric one and the one that looks like a green Jennifer Lopez. Hot!

Inside you’ll also find screens of a battle damaged RoboCop and “Vector” from Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and a trio of toys based on Lionsgate’s forthcoming The Hunger Games (because there’s nothing cooler than toys of faceless actors doning stupid weapons from the future). READ MORE

[Toy Fair '12] Even More ‘A Nightmare On Elm Street’ Figures From NECA!

[Toy Fair 12] Even More A Nightmare On Elm Street Figures From NECA!

I’m all over the place when it comes to NECA’s A Nightmare on Elm Street action figure line. I can’t recall what they’ve announced and what’s new, which is amazing because it means there are so many that I’ve lost count. A Nightmare-ish wet dream if you will?

I know for sure that we’ve already reported on the classic Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy with outstretched arms, regular arms, removable hat and interchangeable heads (classic and skinned face with exposed skull), Freddy’s Revenge Freddy with bladed finger nails, removable hat and interchangeable heads (regular and screaming face), the Dream Warriors Freddy with ripped sweater revealing Freddy’s victims, Elm Street house accessory and interchangeable heads (grimacing expression and crucifix damaged screaming face with a port hole that light can shine through), and the Dream Master Freddy with chest bursting with souls. WEW.

But wait, there’s MORE…

There’s a NEW A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors Freddy that features Freddy with needles to pump Taryn White full of juice, and the illustrious Freddy puppet. Then there’s the new A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child Freddy with elongated demon arm, an interchangeable head and BABY Freddy!

NECA is also working on a life-sized puppet from A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. AWESOME. There’s also word of a new Freddy vs Jason line, but I don’t see any images just yet. We’ll update if they appear. READ MORE

UPDATE: NECA Jason Collectibles And A Few New Stills Hit Two Days After ‘Friday The 13th’

JasonLandscape211512 UPDATE: NECA Jason Collectibles And A Few New Stills Hit Two Days After Friday The 13th

Yeah, I know it’s Sunday the 15th. But still! Below you’ll find a sneak peak at the head for NECA’s Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter Voorhees toy. I can only assume it comes with a machete to lay into that gushing wound. In all seriousness, how cool would it be if the figure came with Tommy Jarvis (Corey Feldman), the only person to truly stop Jason before he was resurrected as a zombie in Part 6?

Furthermore, how cool would it be if NECA eventually released a box set containing all 13 Jason’s (including baby Jason and the two incarnations from Jason X)?

In addition, Derek Mears has made two, previously unreleased, images available of him as Jason in Friday The 13th (2009). Unlike some other horror sites/writers – I actually dug the Platinum Dunes F13 remake. It’s one of the top four Friday movies in my book – and it’s the best Dunes movie by a country mile.

Toys: NECA Announces First Batch of ‘Evil Dead 2′ Toys

I stopped buying toys a long time ago, there just isn’t enough space in my house for all of them. Unfortunately, NECA is going to cause me a lot of problems with their forthcoming Evil Dead 2 line that’s already been teased at the previous two Comic-Cons in CA and NY.

This weekend NECA revealed that the first line will hit stores this February and will consist of “Evil Dead 2 Ash” (with two possessed hands, a shotgun and an axe) and “Evil Dead 2 Deadite Ash” (with a recorder, the Book of the Dead and Lind’a Deadite head). Henrietta and Chainsaw Ash are TBA.

Toys: NECA Adds Deer Head to ‘Evil Dead 2′ Accessories

At this past week’s San Diego Comic-Con, NECA unveiled their Evil Dead 2 horror line featuring three versions of Ash (played by Bruce Campbell is the 1987 film directed by Sam Raimi), alongside a deadite version of Henrietta.

In the previously released images you’ll see all sorts of sweet accessories, but apparently NECA wasn’t finished. This morning the toy company changed their Twitter avatar to the possessed deer that’s featured in the maddening sequence where Ash laughs alongside a heap of furniture.

As revealed, the three Ash figures will be as follows: “Hero Ash,” “Deadite Ash” and “Farewell to Arms Ash”, along with “Henrietta” and her elongated demon head.

Comic-Con ’11: Yes, Even Clearer Pics for NECA’s ‘Evil Dead 2′ Line

My apologies if I’m over excited, but I’ve personally been aching to get my hands on some clear photos from NECA’s Evil Dead 2 figure line.

While setting up this past Wednesday, NECA teased some unassembled looks at good ol’ Ash (played by Bruce Campbell is the 1987 film directed by Sam Raimi), while some show floor photos gave us the reveal of the Henrietta cellar deadite (“I buried her in the celler, God help me I buried her in the earthly floor of the fruit cellar…” – I love this quote).

Thanks to the boys over at Figures.com we now have beautiful dead-on snaps of the three Ash figures (“Hero Ash,” “Deadite Ash” and “Farewell to Arms Ash”), along with “Henrietta” and her elongated demon head. I’ll chainsaw the crap all over these.

Again, my apologies for TRIPLE posting these guys, but they’re just so f*cking awesome!!!

Comic-Con ’11: Up Close Look at NECA’s ‘Evil Dead 2′ Line, New Reveal!

May God forgive me for what I have unleashed onto this Earth…. Henrietta is dead. I could not bring myself to dismember her corpse; I dragged her down the steps, I buried her, I buried her in the celler, God help me I buried her in the earthly floor of the fruit cellar…

Update: An update to our previous story as we now have up close and personal images with NECA’s new “Ash” figures, along with the reveal of a Deadite action figure!

The timing couldn’t be any better for NECA to reveal their first wave of action figures based on Sam Raimi’s 1987 classic Evil Dead 2. As we first predicted back in May, the potential is off the charts with options for a handful of variants. The dudes at NECA know what they’re doing, which is proven in the following sneak peak images from the floor of the yet-to-open San Diego Comic-Con. What can you expect besides Bruce Campbell as good ‘ol “Ash”? How about the classic axe, shotgun, tape recorder, chainsaw, along with varient Ash faces (including a possessed Ash). It also looks as if they’ve got even more surprises up their sleeve (take a look for yourself!)

Toy Fair ’11: Mattel’s Newest ‘Ghostbusters’, Louis Tully!

It really bums me out that I just turned 30. What I would have done for the respect of toy companies when I was 6. I literally have no space for all of this awesomeness, and my imagination has taken a turn for the worst (not that I could see myself literally “playing” with these).

Still, I might have to muster up a spot for Vinz Clortho, the Keymaster of Gozer, a loyal minion demi-god who obeys The Destructor. In the 1984 Ghostbusters, Vinz possessed Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) and became one of the most beloved characters in the franchise (I would have loved his party!) This figure comes with an array of extras, including the dog head from the finale. Available in March.

Also available this March is “Marshmallow Mess Ray” who comes with a messy logo. In May you can snag “Egon with Lab Coat”, which appears to come with the library ghost! Lastly, in July Mattel releases “Winston with Slime Blower”.

I think the one thing that all of the toy companies are missing are toy “displays”. I’m not really looking to have Marshmallow Mess Ray and Vinz Clortho just handing out on my desk. I want a rooftop piece with a ginormous Stay Puft Marshmallow Man climbing up. NECA has the right idea with their Crow rooftop fight piece, and the Friday the 13th shrine set, but no toy company has really gone out of their way to create something spectacular (like a possessed Dana (with removable shirt) apartment set that comes with a demonic refrigerator).
