10 Facts About The New ‘Evil Dead’!!!

Last summer I spent two days in Auckland, New Zealand to check out the set of TriStar and FilmDistrict’s upcoming Evil Dead remake. I’m not going to mince words here, I have never walked away from a set this confident and hopeful that a movie will turn out well. With a lot of these visits you get the feeling that people are just fort of putting on their best face to meet you, and you’re not entirely convinced of their commitment to making a great movie.

Not here. Fede Alvarez is not f*cking around. Neither is producer Rob Tapert. Nor are Robert Gillies (the production designer) or Roger Murray (the prosthetics and props maker). The film’s DP, Aaron Morton, isn’t f*cking around either when it comes to getting those crazy roving tree shots we love so much. And the cast? Enduring all of the prosthetics, pain and hundreds of gallons of blood? Not f*cking around. I’m not talking about a bunch of disinterested dilettantes talking about “how much they love the project.” I’m talking about seeing the bloody proof of it firsthand. I’m not just talking about the scenes we witnessed, but the messy aftermath of everything they’d been shooting up until that point. You just can’t fake a production like this for two days while press is around.

I’m not talking about a bunch of disinterested dilettantes talking about “how much they love the project.” I’m talking about seeing the bloody proof of it firsthand. I’m not just talking about the scenes we witnessed, but the messy aftermath of everything they’d been shooting up until that point. You just can’t fake a production like this for two days while press is around.

Below we’ve been provided with a new look inside the Evil Dead‘ Book of the Dead that will bring upon “HIM”.

“He’ll suck your soul dry!” it declares, while also displaying a hideous beast.

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, “Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

Are you ready for your first good look at the Necronomicon from Fede Alvarez’s hotly anticipated Evil Dead remake>?? It actually looks quite a bit different from the original, opting for a more surgical, moist vibe.

What are you having for dinner? Whatever it is, I guarantee it’s not as bad-ass as this pizza version of the Necronomicon made by Elizabeth at blogofthefed.com. If you’re having some friends over for an Evil Dead marathon or just want to bring a little more Lovecraft in your kitchen you’ll find the recipe inside… just don’t read it backwards like I did unless you want to spend the rest of the night apologizing to your wife for ruining dinner because of your last minute deadite guests.

After months of teasing, publisher Avatar Press has formally introduced its newest project coupling the legendary Alan Moore (“WATCHMEN”, “V FOR VENDETTA”) with “CROSSED” artist Jacen Burrows titled, “NEONOMICON’! One of the comics that came out this week was Boom Comic’s Necronomicon in trade paperback form. I had a chance to pick this up at the store and I’ve liked what I have read so far. I tend to pick up most comics in trade form so I can get the whole story without being left on a cliffhanger month to month. The story is quite typical where a lowly college student must save the world from demons of the Necronomicon. One thing that did stick out in this series is the artwork from Andrew Ritchie who also does the Call of Cthulu comics for boom. The art is very reminiscent of 30′s or 40′s comic art. That art choice helps to keep the story off kilter and deranged when I read it. If this title seems like something up your alley, I suggest picking up the trade…More info after the break…
