And so another year comes to a close. 2012, just like any other year, you had your gems and you had your flops when it came to album releases. For this article, I’d like to give you my Top 10 albums of 2012 as well as several honorable mentions that didn’t exactly make the cut but were too good to leave unmentioned. So, read on to see my Top 10 Albums Of 2012!
Rock band Garbage will be performing their song “I Hate Love” on Jay Leno’s The Tonight Show tonight at 11:35pm EST on NBC. The song comes from their latest album Not Your Kind Of People (review), which came out earlier this year and was the first all new Garbage album in over seven years. Before you get your panties in a bunch and scream that the song doesn’t sound like black metal at all, I’m not talking about the song. I’m saying that the new video for Garbage‘s “Big Bright World” looks like it has a lot of black metal video influences. It features handheld, shaky shots of old cemeteries, catacomb-esque tunnels, artistic shots of hour glasses with the time running out… I swear, director Julie Orser must be a fan of black metal. It’s the only explanation I can come up with. Check out the video below and tell me if I’m right.
I’ve been a fan of Garbage since their self-titled debut album came out in 1995. Armed with a sound entirely unique unto themselves, they’ve been a band I’ve followed almost religiously with each new album announcement. And so it is, that after seven years, I was back to salivating with anticipation as their latest album, Not Your Kind Of People, inched ever closer to release. The news that Garbage was returning this year with a new album sent fans into a frenzy. After all, it had been seven years since their last studio album, Bleed Like Me. Now, with Not Your Kind Of People coming out on May 15th, the band has decided to award those of us who were alone on Valentines Day with a snippet of a song entitled I Hate Love. It took me a listen or two but I’m definitely digging it. Check it out below!
