Southern metal band Anti-Mortem is gearing up for the release of their upcoming debut album New Southern, which hits streets on April 29th via Nuclear Blast Records. To celebrate this upcoming release, the band has premiered the album artwork, which was done by Brent Elliott White (Job For A Cowboy, Trivium). The artwork depicts Death riding a skeletal horse while holding a scythe crafted from bone riding towards two Civil War soldiers. It’s pretty badass.

“I saw the virgin’s cunt spawning forth the snake.” This is the opening line to The Satanist, the much anticipated new album from Polish blackened metal band Behemoth. To say that it sets the tone for the album is an understatement. It is the beginning of a vicious aural assault, one that is both aggressive and dynamic, something that is entirely not for the faint of heart.
It’s been a long five years since Evangelion, a delay that was at one point filled with uncertainty and fear due to frontman Nergal’s battle with leukemia. But the past is behind us and we can now eagerly look forward to a future with The Satanist. READ MORE
Polish blackened death metal band Behemoth has released its fourth and final prologue video for The Satanist. The video, which you can see below (courtesy of Metal Sucks) has no explanation, simply showing front man Nergal throwing darts in a church. As with the other videos, it’s shot in stark black and white and exudes loads of atmosphere.
Also below is the lyric video for the band’s new track “Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer”. The Satanist comes out this Tuesday. READ MORE
Dutch symphonic rock band Within Temptation has released a music video for “Whole World Is Watching You”, which features Soul Asylum vocalist Dave Pirner. The video was directed by ubiquitous rock/metal music video director Patric Ullaeus and mixes performance footage of the band atop a skyscraper with the story of man who learns to walk again after being paralyzed. The song comes from the band’s upcoming album Hydra, which comes out next Tuesday via Nuclear Blast Records (iTunes).
Let me just get this out right away: this song is terrible. It’s incredibly generic and it feels like a serious backslide for the band. Within Temptation used to rock…hard. Even when they did more laid back songs they had this dynamic scope that this track is sorely lacking. READ MORE
Polish blackened death metal band Behemoth has released a lyric video for “Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer”, a new track from the band’s upcoming album The Satanist, which comes out next Tuesday. The track is pure heretical badassery, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I’m loving this new album. Head down to check it out!

When it comes to sheer heretical metal, there are few bands that manage to make such an impact as Poland’s Behemoth. The group has released one acclaimed album after another, never shying away from controversy. In fact, they welcome it with open arms. And such is the case with their latest offering, The Satanist. Frontman Nergal comments on the title, explaining, “The Satanist’ stands for undying yearning for liberation and love for freedom in all aspects of life. Considering all our life experiences that often took dramatic curves I couldn’t think of more appropriate and fitting statement of who and where we are now.”
The Satanist ranked as one of my most anticipated albums of 2014, I’ve been eagerly eating up every bit of news I could find about it. And now, today, I get to bring you some news exclusively from the band themselves! Behemoth has been posting prologue videos describing the new album and we’re here to bring you an exclusive first look at the 3rd part!
In this clip, drummer Zbigniew “Inferno” Promiński explains how he approached his role not just as a creator of rhythm but also as an attempt to induce a trance-like state, something, “…that activates the dormant areas of your brain.” Head on below to enter this dark, hypnotic world.
Make sure to pre-order your copy of The Satanist via iTunes, Metal Blade Records (US), or Nuclear Blast (Europe). READ MORE
Polish metal band Behemoth has posted a second clip that goes behind-the-scenes of their upcoming album The Satanist, which comes out February 4th via Metal Blade Records. In this clip, vocalist/guitarist Nergal discusses the times when the band would simply jam out during rehearsals, letting the music overtake them to see what would come forth. The black and white clip is shot almost like a scene from a horror film, with ravens flying amongst leafless trees during a cold winter day. Super atmospheric stuff. READ MORE

Dutch symphonic rockers Within Temptation have unveiled tons of details about their upcoming sixth studio album Hydra, which will be released in early 2014 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The album will feature guest appearances from ex-Killswitch Engage singer Howard Jones, ex-Nightwish vocalist Tarja Turunen, rapper Xzibit, and Soul Asylum singer Dave Pirner.
Asked to describe Xzibit’s performance on the song “And We Run”, guitarist Robert Westerholt states, “Xzibit is amazing. This song is about how you’ve got to live your life now. He’s rapping at full force on this song. It’s really heavy.” Singer Sharon den Adel adds, “Xzibit brings a new element to our music that we’ve never had before! It’s a new cross-over and we love it!”
Sharon comments on the appearance by Turunen, saying, “The way she delivers those high melody lines left us all speechless. We had a great time, and the fans responded beyond our expectations.”
Den Adel adds more about Jones’s appearance on “Dangerous”: “I always loved Howard’s voice. He makes the song even heavier than it already is. That song is one of my favorite songs on the record and one of the fastest we’ve ever written. It has the most bass drums we’ve ever used, too, and a very fast riff which we doubled with synths. It’s not a typical synthesizer, though – it’s distorted like a guitar, and it’s very aggressive.”
“Whole World Is Watching” features Soul Asylum’s singer Dave Pirner. The band comments, “When we wrote ‘Whole World Is Watching,’ Dave was at the very top of our list. He has such a captivating voice: it made the song exactly how it needed to be.”

Friday has once again bestowed its loving embrace upon us and I think it’s time we pay take things to a slightly darker place. With this in mind, I bring the dark occult vision of “Caduceus”, which is the latest music video from black metal band Hiss From The Moat. Directed by Salvatore Perrone, the video is full of evil, sinister images that compliment the vicious, aggressive music. The song comes from the band’s brand new album Misanthropy, which you can snag on iTunes.

Frontman Sigurd “Satyr” Wongraven states, “We are back. Sorry it took so long, but we needed the time to be able pull off a record like this. Comparing this one to previous records is time wasted, it is SATYRICON; constantly on the move. Naming this record Satyriconwas the most obvious thing in the world. We have never done a record which captures the spirit of this band in such a way. Ever. It will demand a lot from you as a listener, but I know you will love it. It will grow on you and that is why it will stay with you forever. We won’t tour as much in the future as we used to, and that will just make every tour more special. This album is for you and ourselves. It is our moment!” READ MORE

Bloody-Disgusting has teamed up with Virginia Beach melodic death metal band Arsis to bring you the exclusive music video premiere for “Scornstar”, which comes from their latest album Unwelcome (purchase here). The video plays out like a news broadcast detailing the mysterious and gruesome deaths of those who went to the local Arsis show. Some people are torn apart, some explode violently, and a woman even dies through over-lactation (I’m not joking). It’s a fun, disgusting video that rmeinds me heavily of the feel of Slither. Check it out below!
Arsis will be touring with Wintersun, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and Starkill. All tour dates can be found below. READ MORE
Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish delighted fans last year when they announced that their 2011 album Imaginaerum was going to be converted into a movie bearing the same name. The rich, playfully gothic tone of the music was going to be converted into engrossing, captivating visuals with a tender, heartfelt story.
While I was a fan of the album, the movie didn’t do nearly as much for me. In my review, I state, “It’s definitely something I’d recommend to fans of the band but for others it is best put on as background material.”

Polish tech death metal band Decapitated have released an official music video for “404″, which comes from their new album Carnival Is Forever (Nuclear Blast Store). The video features live performance footage, which looks like it was taken during the band’s direct opening slot on the Lamb Of God tour this past Spring. You can watch the video below.
Also, can we all admit that the banner above (which is a piece of the Carnival Is Forever cover artwork) is super badass? It looks like a mixture of The Strangers and the dirtiness/griminess of Ils and Frontier(s). Definitely a fan of that style. READ MORE
Italian symphonic death metal band Fleshgod Apocalypse have released a stream of a new track entitled “Elegy”. The song comes from the band’s upcoming third studio album Labyrinth, which comes out August 20th via Nuclear Blast Records. The song can be heard below.
Speaking about Labyrinth, vocalist/guitarist Tommaso Riccardi states, “The concept of this album is based on the myth of the Labyrinth of Knossos and every character related to it. We focused on the philological aspect in order to represent all the elements of the classic world and, through a manic and meticulous research, we managed to create a metaphor with our times, as the maze can be associated with the endless search for what we really are. We’re sure you will be stunned by this as much as we are.”
Fleshgod Apocalypse will also be embarking on a summer tour with Wintersun, Arsis, and Starkill. Tour dates can be found below. READ MORE
Ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo will be guest appearing on the new Sepultura album, which is tentatively scheduled for an October release via Nuclear Blast Records. The album is being produced by Ross Robinson (Machinehead, Slipknot, Fear Factory).
Guitarist Andreas Kisser comments, “He came and it was so nice, so special, so awesome! He is one of the nicest guys in business and he enjoyed the idea a lot. Ross and Mike prepared two drum sets on the living room, facing each other, no cymbals, just tribal drums! When the mics were all ready and running Eloy and Dave started playing and the magic was on; so great! The part they recorded will be a special part on the middle of one of the songs. It came out crazy!”
The new Sepultura album will be the follow up to 2011′s Kairos. READ MORE
