Classic doom rock inspired band Orchid have released a music video for “Wizard Of War”, the first single from their upcoming Nuclear Blast Records release The Mouths Of Madness, which comes out May 14th. [Album Review] Soilwork ‘The Living Infinite’

When it was announced that Soilwork would be unleashing a double album as their new studio album, the metal world rejoiced. After all, one disc is already a cause for celebration, but two? The Swedish melodic metal master’s ninth studio album The Living Infinite has been one of the most anticipated releases of 2013 by many, even landing on my own list.

One of the things that gave me some trepidation was the loss of guitarist Peter Wichers, who was replaced by David Andersson, who toured with the band in 2006. Also, after the stellar The Panic Broadcast, this album has a great deal to live up to. So now we ask the hard question: does it or have Soilwork fallen short? Find out below! READ MORE

Soilwork Release Official Video For “Rise Above The Sentiment”

Swedish melodic metal band Soilwork have released an official video for “Rise Above The Sentiment”, which comes off their upcoming album The Living Infinite. The Sune Eskelinen & Niclas Lindahl-directed video starts off almost like something out of V/H/S but turns into something much more lighthearted, featuring the band members engaging in various behind-the-scenes activities, including cooking, returning beer cans (a LOT of beer cans), playing chess and backgammon (I’ll totally take any one of them on in backgammon), and more.

Children Of Bodom Enter Studio To Record New Album

Finnish metal band Children Of Bodom have entered the studio to record their eight studio album, which will be the follow up to 2011′s Reckless Relentless Forever. COB have teamed up with recording engineer Mikko Karmila (who worked on the Hatebreeder, Follow the Reaper, and Hate Crew Deathroll albums) and producer Peter Tägtgren (Immortal, Marduk, Amon Amarth). The album is expected to have a summer release date via Nuclear Blast Records.

Singer/guitarist Alexi Laiho states, “It’s a nice change to the regular method where we lock ourselves up at a studio in the middle of the woods, usually also during the darkest time of the year.

COB bassist Henkka Seppälä shares: “Last night I finished my parts for the record. We listened to all the songs and fixed what had to be fixed. The bass tracks are locked in and so are the basic tracks for guitars, from both Roope [Latvala, guitarist] and Alexi. And of course all drums were recorded first. Next in line are the guitar melodies and solos and then the keyboards and vocals. We are ahead of schedule and very happy to work here in Helsinki for the first time ever.

Working song titles include: “All Twisted,” “Slowdance On Nails,” “Moto GP,” “FC Pettymys,” “Kananmuisti-ilmiö” [Chicken Memory Effect], and “Trondheim.” READ MORE
