Colon-Dwelling Worms Infest ‘Zombie Ass’

Having played at this past fall’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, a new one-sheet has been discovered for Machine Girl, RoboGeisha and Mutant Girls Squad director Noboru Iguchi’s Zombie Ass. The undead film sounds disgusting, so hopefully it’s bloody too…

ZOMBIE ASS is about a plague of colon-dwelling worm monsters that turn people into zombies or some other manner of meat-based gore puppet. We sat down with director Noboru Iguchi, mad special effects scientist Yoshihiro Nishimura, and actor Demo Tanaka who all plied their respective trades on both films.READ MORE

Lots of Selene In Fresh Character Banner and Underworld: Awakening One Sheet

After leaking earlier this year, Sony Screen Gems has finally released the completed one-sheet for Underworld: Awakening. It once again puts Selene (played by Kate Beckinsale) front an center; it’s eye candy that never gets old. In addition, we’ve tossed up a newly released character banner that’s full of ammo.

In theaters January 20 from directors Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, “Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.READ MORE

Get Up Close and Personal With Effie Trinket in ‘The Hunger Games’

I’m still clinging on to hope that Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games will tonally be similar to Battle Royale and The Running Man, as originally promised. The trailer looked like it could go in the direction, but it also carried a ridiculous dystopian feel.

Case in point: Elizabeth Banks’ character, District 12 escort Effie Trinket. I previously joked about her clown make-up, now you’ll get a up close and personal look thanks to MTV’s faux cosmetic ad asking “what will you be wearing to the opening ceremonies”? Ask Joel Schumacher…

Directed by Gary Ross, and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Dayo Okeniyi, Amandla Stenberg, Chris Mark, Jacqueline Emerson, Wes Bentley, Lenny Kravitz, Toby Jones, and Stanley Tucci, Lionsgate will begin the games on March 23. READ MORE

Cerebral Slasher Heads to ‘Slew Hampshire’

Cerebral Slasher Heads to Slew Hampshire

Starring Dayo Okeniyi and directed by Flood Reed comes a new cerebral slasher, Slew Hampshire, which now has a trailer and official Facebook page. The footage is after the break, with a ton of posters and images at the Facebook link.

In April of 1994, one of the most brutal mass slaughters in history occurred in the woods of northern New England. Four months later, history is about to repeat itself.

The end of summer signals the brink of manhood for a group of 18-year-old boys who pridefully call New Hampshire their home. Led by Buddy – once regarded as a major league pitching prospect – the boys embark on a local rite of passage, traveling north for one final weekend of debauchery in Canada. Unfortunately, it may just be their final weekend, period – as this rite goes very wrong. Along the way, the boys pick up Bro, their most intelligent – and only African American – friend, who is about to embark on an academic career at Dartmouth College. Where his right hand once resided is now a stump, and while this painful reminder of a terrible accident signifies a darker time, little does he realize what it will come to signify to those whom he encounters in the backwoods of New Hampshire.

Henry David Thoreau once wrote, “Not till we are completely lost or turned ’round do we appreciate the vastness and strangeness of nature.” Unfortunately for the boys, just being lost would be a luxury compared to what they are about to experience – as there is nothing to be appreciated about what nature has in store for them on this night. What begins as a humorous comedy of errors quickly becomes a Darwinian gore fest, and what unfolds is a cerebral yet repulsive journey through the history and nature of humanity and “civilization.” With four distinct clans vying for supremacy and survival in the woods of New Hampshire, less than 24 hours will pass before a slew of lives have been claimed and the last of the living remains.READ MORE

Hideous One-Sheet for Amanda Seyfried Starrer ‘Gone’

Hideous One Sheet for Amanda Seyfried Starrer Gone

I just Gone and barfed all over my parent’s carpet.

The poster has premiered for Summit Entertainment’s Gone, the Heitor Dhalia-directed thriller starring Amanda Seyfried, Emily Wickersham, Wes Bentley, Jennifer Carpenter, Erin Carufel, Sebastian Stan, and Socratis Otto.

In theaters February 24, the one-sheet depicts a collage of Seyfried’s face, a mysterious woman and an even more mysterious intruder. At quick glance all I see are Seyfried’s “f*ck me eyes”. Hey, sex sells. I know a few people who’d hang this post on their ceiling. (Didn’t mean to go there. But yes, yes I did.)

The thriller revolves around a young woman named Jill (Seyfried) who returns home from her night shift to find her sister’s bed empty. She’s convinced the serial killer who kidnapped her two years before has come back to finish the job. But the police do not believe Jill, who knows time is running out. [Slamdance 2012] Whispering Tattoos in Comforting Skin

The film has been announced at part of January’s Slamdance film Festival, which takes place alongside the Sundance Fest in Park City, Utah.

Sweet ‘Ghost Rider’ One Sheet Blazes In, Hype Fizzles Out…

Sweet Ghost Rider One Sheet Blazes In, Hype Fizzles Out...

This morning Columbia Pictures released the super sweet one sheet for Crank directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (in theaters February 17, 2012), which is basically the exact same thing as the previously displayed theater standee.

But that’s not the story. This beautiful piece of art is overshadowed by this past weekend’s rash of online negativity after the studio screened the film at BNAT in Austin, Texas. The result? Negative is an understatement…

GHOST RIDER 2 makes GHOST RIDER 1 look like DARK KNIGHT,” said Jordan Hoffman. Our friend Devin Faraci from BadassDigest tweeted, “GHOST RIDER 2 manages to make me look fondly back on GHOST RIDER. Unbearable.” Peter Sciretta from /Film added, “SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE is better than the first film, and the character design is drastically improved. Unfortunately the script is a boring mess, the film lacks a proper budget and the post converted 3D looks pretty horrible compared to films like HUGO.

BURNED. Pun intended. I guess it’s a good thing Sony rushed to make this sequel so the rights didn’t revert back to Marvel. Way to look out for the fans… READ MORE

Evil Turns to Ash in Italian ‘Intruders’ One Sheet

One of the worst films I’ve seen in 2011 is 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo’s (unintentionally) faux supernatural horror film Intruders (review), which premiered at the TIFF this past September.

Starring Clive Owen, Daniel Brühl, Carice Van Houten, Pilar López de Ayala, Ella Purnell, Izan Corchero, and Kerry Fox, the story centers on an 11-year-old girl who is forced to confront childhood demons.

While Millennium Entertainment is releasing here in the States next April, Italy gets it this September while it’s already burning people’s eyes in Spain. Check out the italian one sheet after the break. It pretty much says it all (it looks like Constantine a bit).

Juan and Mia, two children who live in different countries, are visited every night by a faceless intruder – a terrifying being that wants to get hold of them. These presences become more powerful and start ruling their lives as well as their families’. Anxiety and tension increase when their parents also witness these apparitions.READ MORE

PFFFFT: ‘Final Destination 5′ Poster Banned in UK Because It Makes Kids Visually Upset

fd5posterban120811 PFFFFT: Final Destination 5 Poster Banned in UK Because It Makes Kids Visually Upset

We live in a society that’s driven by fear, yet people freak out and complain over stupid (poorly designed) movie posters. Go figure.

The poster campaign for the DVD release of horror movie Final Destination 5 has been banned in the U.K. by the Advertising Standards Authority for upsetting children, reports THR.

The ad watchdog ruled that the poster, which shows a skull being shattered by steel rods driven through its mouth and eye sockets, must not appear again in its current form after upholding a slew of complaints from adults with upset children.

Welcome censorship.

The Warner Bros. release has been advertised by the imagery on posters on the side of buses and on billboards on the London Underground tube network. The campaign ran in August this year ahead of its August 26 rollout and the ASA received (a measly) 13 complaints that the poster was distressing and unsuitable for children to see.

Three people who complained claimed that their young children had become visibly upset when they saw the ad on a bus. These people are overprotective morons, IMO. READ MORE
