‘Cabin in the Woods’ Poster a Rubik’s Cube of Terror

Cabin in the Woods Poster a Rubiks Cube of Terror

Lionsgate has just premiered a stunning one sheet for Drew Goddard’s The Cabin in the Woods, his high-concept horror slasher arriving in theaters Friday, April 13, 2012. The poster puts a “new spin” on the slasher genre promising a Rubick’s Cube of horror. Hell. Effin’. Yes.

Much like Cloverfield, which Goddard scripted, the Cabin story line provides a new twist on a classic scenario — in this case the young-people-stranded-in-the-woods horror trope. Five friends go to a remote cabin in the woods. Bad things happen. This is the official crunch: “If you think you know this story, think again. ‘Cabin in the Woods’ is a mind-blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out.

No other plot details are available, but it helps that Thor‘s Chris Hemsworth stars alongside Richard Jenkins, Bradley Whitford, Kristen Connolly, Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz, Jesse Williams and Brian White. READ MORE

Four Artistic Takes On ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance’ Poster!

Four Artistic Takes On Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance Poster!

Quite similar to the ones on display at the San Diego Comic-Con this past July, Columbia Pictures has released a handful of rustic one sheets for Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. The artistic interpretations can be enjoyed after the break.

Arriving in a blaze of fury on February 17, 2012, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor direct this time around and have apparently delivered something much more gritty than its predecessor. As I previously stated, this charred-up and spit out version of Ghost Rider looks beyond rad, while maintaining that comic book atmosphere.

In the successor to the worldwide hit ‘Ghost Rider,’ Johnny – still struggling with his curse as the devil’s bounty hunter – is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church to save a young boy (Fergus Riordan) from the devil (Ciaran Hinds). At first, Johnny is reluctant to embrace the power of the Ghost Rider, but it is the only way to protect the boy – and possibly rid himself of his curse forever.

The ‘Underworld: Awakening 3D’ US Poster Has An Imaginative Tagline!

UnderworldLand2111211 The Underworld: Awakening 3D US Poster Has An Imaginative Tagline!

Yesterday we had a foreign poster for the film that didn’t exactly reinvent the wheel and today’s stateside poster for Underworld: Awakening 3D falls pretty flat as well.

And that tagline kind of reminds me of a fake movie poster you’d see on the side of a bus in a movie. Where’s Lucas Lee?

The film is directed by Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein and stars Kate Beckinsale, Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, Theo James, India Eisley and Charles Dance. Screen Gems will release on January 20, 2012.

Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species.

‘Alyce’ Poster Lends a Friend a Hand

I wasn’t much of a fan of Zombie Strippers, but director Jay Lee is back with a bouncy little horror film that looks absolutely entertaining. Starring Hatchet‘s Tamara Feldman, alongside Jade Dornfeld, James Duval and Eddie Rouse, below you’ll find the latest one sheet from Alyce.

Alyce, an introverted young woman, tries to console her friend, Carroll, after Carroll discovers her boyfriend has been cheating. The girls get drunk and take ecstasy before heading up to the roof of Alyce’s apartment building. Intoxicated and giddy, the girls start playing around but one drunken stumble later knocks Carroll off the ledge of the six-story building.

Panicked, Alyce returns to her apartment and begins to quickly unravel.

Miraculously, Carroll doesn’t die but is severely broken and unable to speak. Alyce lies about her involvement in the tragedy but it ceaselessly haunts her. She seeks refuge in drugs and more drugs, exchanging sexual favors to get and stay high. She loses sleep, her job, and soon, her sanity.

Until, that is, Alyce decides to take control of the situation. She puts an end to her anxieties of being discovered by suffocating Carroll. The sense of control she garners with this single act empowers her and she moves on for more. She kills the cheating boyfriend but finds that disposing of his body is more trouble than she’d bargained for. But it’s not a job that a blender, a microwave, a hack saw, a baseball bat, and a garbage disposal, can’t eventually take care of.

And then she goes off, quite rationally, to take control of the rest of her life and all of the people that have been controlling her.READ MORE

‘A Little Bit Zombie’ One Sheet Jabs at ‘Twilight’

A Little Bit Zombie One Sheet Jabs at Twilight

Director and producer Casey Walker has released a second one sheet for A Little Bit Zombie, the feature film penned by Christopher Bond, one of the creators of ‘Evil Dead The Musical’ and Trevor Martin. The new illustrated poster takes a jab at the Twilight films, yet doesn’t provide any really new info on the film. I’d rather see something that gets me excited about their film instead of making me go “Oh, they hate Twilight?” To each their own.

Starring Shawn Roberts (Resident Evil: Afterlife), Crystal Lowe (Hot tub Time Machine), Kristopher Turner (Bloodletting & Miraculous Cures) and Kristen Hager, “ ‘A Little Bit Zombie‘ follows the adventures of a mild mannered groom-to-be, Steve (Turner), who becomes infected by a virus on a country weekend get-away. While he attempts to fulfill his overwhelming desire to eat brains and keep his bridezilla-to-be (Lowe) happy, he must avoid Max, the obsessed Zombie Hunter hot on his trail.”

A Little Bit Zombie also features Stephen McHattie (Watchmen, Pontypool), Emilie Ullerup (“Sanctuary”), Robert Maillet, George Buza and Neil Whitely. READ MORE

AFM ’11: In Space the ‘Moon’ is Always Full!

Announced at AFM by the Salt Company, Grabbers and Tormented director Jon Wright is heading to space with Steel Moon, a werewolves in space movie that has be cringing until I read the tagline: “In space the moon is always full.” Pure gold. Inside you’ll find the art, with the synopsis below.

High above the earth, the first orbital hotel is about to open. This 7-star boutique resort promises the ultimate in luxury and the best views in the universe. But things take a deadly turn when an ancient contagion is brought onboard and the small band of occupants find themselves in a desperate battle for survival as a werewolf stalks the moonlit corridors.

‘Steel Moon’ is a claustrophobic, stylish, and visceral horror movie in the vein of ‘Alien’ and ‘The Thing.’ The space hotel setting will provide a stunning visual backdrop to a traditional mythic tale of terror that catapults the earthbound werewolf legend into orbit – and beyond.” Andy Briggs, Eitan Arussi, Teresa de Pelegri & Dominic Harari all took a stab at the screenplay. AFM ’11: Market Art for Lucky McKee’s ‘The Woman’

AFM 11: Market Art for Lucky McKees The Woman

We scored some new art for Lucky McKee’s The Woman that’s being used for international sales at this ongoing AFM in Santa Monica.

The story follows a successful country lawyer who captures and attempts to “civilize” the last remaining member of a violent clan that has roamed the Northeast in the wild for decades, thereby putting the lives of his family in extreme jeopardy.

Starring Pollyanna McIntosh, Sean Bridgers and Angela Bettis, the film prompted furious debates and walkouts during its world premiere in the Park City at Midnight program at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Reports surfaced of people becoming sick while watching the graphic scenes and one irate Sundance audience member went so far as to say THE WOMAN “ought to be confiscated, burned. There’s no value in showing this to anyone.” Whether a “wonderfully bizarre tale” or an “inhumane degradation of women,” you’ll have to decide for yourself. READ MORE
