Ghost Stream Cover Of ABBA’s “I’m A Marionette”

Heavy metal band Ghost has released their cover of ABBA‘s “I’m A Marionette”, which you can listen to below. The cover is a somewhat stripped down, darker version of the original, which was far more bombastic and theatrical. While originally slated to appear on the band’s sophomore album Infestissumam, it does not appear on the current track listing.

Infestissumam is the follow up to 2011′s Opus Eponymous (review). READ MORE

Ghost Streaming New Song By Revealing Each Instrument Separately Before Combining Them All Tomorrow

Swedish NWOBHM-inspired band Ghost are releasing a new song in a rather interesting way: They’re streaming each instrument track individually on this website. If you hover your mouse cursor over a candle’s flame, you can hear the individual track, such as guitar, drums, or keys. However, if you leave your cursor off the flame, all the tracks are played together. New candles will be added throughout the day with the last part, the vocals, being added tomorrow, completing the song.

Ghost has also announced details regarding the sophomore album, the follow-up to 2011′s Opus Eponymous, as well as a surprise concert. You can find out more about those details here. READ MORE

The album, which is as-of-yet-untitled, utlized Grammy-award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Death Angel, Deftones, Foo Fighters, Rush) for this offering. The album has an undetermined 2013 release date.

I was a big fan of Opus Eponymous so I’ll definitely be keeping this release on my radar. READ MORE

Album Review: Ghost ‘Opus Eponymous’

Sweden has, in my eyes, some of the best music acts these days. You’ve got Opeth, In Flames, At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity, Meshuggah, Pain Of Salvation; the list goes on and on. These bands, and more from the Scandinavian region, are often credited with shaping today’s metal scene. Most of the time, these bands are focused on moving forward, creating the next iconic sound. Ghost has taken the opposite approach and went back in time, forging a Satanic heavy metal album that hearkens back to the 70’s and 80’s NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal). Does it work or is it too pretentious for it’s own good? Check after the jump for answer.
