Can you believe October 21 is already almost here? Paramount Pictures has fully unloaded the hype this afternoon with a new long ass trailer for Paranormal Activity 3 that features a pretty awesome 1988 Poltergeist reference. But there’s more! In an unprecedented move, Paramount Pictures will debut PA 3 exclusively in cities where the most fans “Tweet To See It First”. This first ever of its kind campaign launched today at 8:00 a.m. PDT and is open to fans worldwide. The fick will premiere on October 18th in the top 20 cities with the most tweets, 3 days before the film’s global release. To vote, fans can go to www.ParanormalMovie.comParanormalMovie.com and select their city from a global map, which will also serve as the point of entry to create a tweet with a special set of hash tags that link directly to twitter. Bloody Disgusting and Dread Central share the exclusive one sheet premiere that promises that the third film will explain “how the activity began.” It features two girls, presumably Katie and her sister, along with a shadowy entity and the tagline: “It runs in the family.

Watch the First ‘Paranormal Activity 3′ TV Spot That Aired During the VMAs

The low budget indie that started it all becomes a trilogy on October 21 when Paramount Pictures’ Paranormal Activity 3 arrives in theaters everywhere. The film was pushed during the outlandishly bad VMAs on MTV (who, might I add, is NO authority on music) and shared with million the first ever TV Spot. Watch it below.

Franchise creator and producer Oren Peli told us this July that filming is currently underway. Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman came aboard this past May to direct from a screenplay by Christopher B. Landon (Disturbia). Details are slim to done, as usual.

Look, It’s the Number Three, It MUST Be a New ‘Paranormal Activity’ Movie!

In an easy case of hit-whoring, inside you’ll find the Spanish teaser poster for Paranormal Activity 3. While Aullidos claims its authenticity, domestic studio reps won’t commit. Either way, it’s kinda boring. It’s a slightly arrogant one sheet as it assumes that the graphic of the number three is iconic enough that passer byers will known immediately that it’s for a third Paranormal Activity. It took Lionsgate six Saw movies to grow those kind of balls.

From Catfish duo Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, Paramount will release in theaters October 21, 2011.

Comic-Con ’11: ‘Paranormal Activity 3′ Viral/Trailer Premiere!

The San Diego Comic-Con just got spooky as attendees were given flyers for a new business, Darren’s Timeless Memories, which will convert those pesky VHS and BETA into digital files for ya. Visiting the company’s official website will lead you on a viral journey that ends with the premiere of the first trailer for Paramount Pictures’ Paranormal Activity 3 (in theaters October 21).

Franchise creator and producer Oren Peli tells us that filming is currently underway and that it’s been a challenge making sure they do the fans right: “The challenge we are dealing with is to create same kind of dreaded feeling of terror and horror, while at the same time also [delivering] something fresh, different and unique,” he told Bloody Disgusting talking about creating “a new experience that delicately balances fear and originality. “ hoping fans will be pleasantly pleased.” This viral stunt is their way of giving the teaser directly to the fans, before theaters, and saying “thank you” for the continued support.

‘Paranormal Activity 3′ Snags ‘Catfish’ Duo!

What a catch!

With Paramount Pictures aiming to get the film in theaters by October 21, 2011, Bloody Disgusting and Dread Central exclusively learned that Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman have come aboard Paranormal Activity 3 from a screenplay by Christopher B. Landon (Disturbia).

Joost and Schulman broke onto the scene with the popular pseudo-doc Catfish. Schulman will co-produce Paranormal Activity 3 alongside Jason Blum and the original creator Oren Peli with Steven Schneider and Akiva Goldsman executive producing. The quartet are coming off the recent success of Insidious, which is now this years most profitable film.

Plot details, as always, are being kept under wraps. What do you want to see happen?

‘Paranormal Activity 2′ Writer Returning For Next Entry

Earlier this year, a press release went out stating that Chris Landon would once again join forces with Michael Perry to write Paranormal Activity 3, though we learned that was not the case shortly thereafter. Now, after rumors of Roger Avary writing and Paul Feig directing were quickly debunked, it looks like Landon is once again attached to the film. The tidbit was casually mentioned in an article about the writer signing to a new agency, so it has not been “officially” confirmed thus far. Someone has got to be writing it at this point though, since it has to be in the can and on the big screen by October 21, 2011.

Rumor Control: No ‘Paranormal Activity 3′ for Feig, Avary

Some unconfirmed rumors hit the web this evening that we’re quickly going to debunk before it gets (too) out of hand.

Doing some fact checking, Bloody Disgusting is told that Paul Feig (Bad Teacher) will NOT be directing Paranormal Activity 3, and Roger Avary (Silent Hill, Pulp Fiction) will NOT be writing the screenplay.

That was easy.

In addition, we already reported that Michael R. Perry would NOT be involved, as of this past January.

That’s a whole lotta “NOT”s.

The only FACT is that Paramount Pictures will release on October 21, 2011, and creator Oren Peli is (obviously) still producing alongside Room 101.

Rumor Control: ‘Disturbia’ Writer Pens ‘Paranormal Activity 3′

Update: Apparently the press release for ‘Burning Palms’ and IMDB were wrong in listing Landon as a writer. Official update forthcoming. Christopher B. Landon (Disturbia, Blood and Chocolate – and director of the forthcoming Burning Palms) and Michael R. Perry are both responsible for penning Paranormal Activity 3 for Room 101, Paramount Pictures and producer Oren Peli, writes IMDB and the Burning Palms press release. Doing a little research, while Perry is listed on IMDB as the writer of Paranormal Activity 2, Landon is now also listed as a participant. I guess you can say they’re reteaming for the trilogy? Story details for the next film is being held under lock and key, but Paramount has officially announced an October 21, 2011 release date.
