5 Horror Movies With Amazing Endings!!!

A few months back I wrote a piece that highlighted 5 horror films and the horrible endings that the filmmakers chose for them. But now it’s October and I’m in the mood for love, especially when it comes to my favorite genre, so it’s time to turn the tables and talk about the films that really hit it out of the park with their endings.

When it comes to endings, sometimes you’ve got to take the advice of Jesus (as played by Jerry Cantrell in Jerry Maguire) and hang your balls out there to be great. So while all of these endings are awesome, most of them aren’t exactly happy. It’s not that I’m against happy endings, but often they clash so harshly with the film’s overall tone and theme that you just know they’re tacked on compromises.

Head inside to check it out. And let me know YOUR favorite horror endings in the comments! READ MORE

More Pics Of ‘Carrie’ Before And After Her Blood Drenching

Now filming in Toronto, Canada is Sony Screen Gems’ remake of Carrie, which has Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry, Stop-Loss) in the director’s chair.

Last week we shared the first pics, which featured Chloe Moretz in one of Carrie‘s most iconic moments as well as a look at Julianne Moore in character as Margaret White. Now we have some new on set images via Just Jared that show Carrie before her blood drenching and then headed out in her rampage covered in the stuff.

The film also stars Judy Greer (The Descendants), Alex Russell (Chronicle), Gabriella Wilde and Portia Doubleday. Carrie tells the supernatural tale of a telekinetic teenage girl tormented by her peers. “The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine, is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White (Moore) and her daughter, Carrie (Moretz). Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin (Greer) tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson (Portia Doubleday), but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell (Gabriella Wilde), regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross (Ansel Elgort), to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.” Brian De Palma’s 1976 film version of Carrie earned Oscar nominations for stars Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie.

Wanna See Chloe Moretz’s ‘Carrie’ Covered In Pig’s Blood?

Updated: With higher quality pics!

Now filming in Toronto, Canada is Sony Screen Gems’ remake of Carrie, which has Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry, Stop-Loss) in the director’s chair.

I was recently on set and – while I can’t say anything about it yet – I can share these pics that EW got their hands on. They feature Chloe Moretz in one of Carrie‘s most iconic moments as well as a look at Julianne Moore in character as Margaret White. It should be noted that this picture looks like it’s from later in the movie – after the prom. You’ll notice she’s outside.

Last night Eli Roth (Hostel, Inglourious Basterds ) let it slip – a little early I might add – that Aftershock would be having its world premiere as an official selection of the Midnight Madness portion of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. A photo was premiered then, but now we have a high resolution look at it, along with four other stills from them film (some of them new).

But when an earthquake ravages the underground nightclub they’re in, a fun night quickly turns to terror. Escaping to the surface is just the beginning as they face nightmarish chaos above ground. [TIFF '12] ‘Midnight Meat Train’ Director Returns, Images From ‘No One Lives’

One of the Midnight Madness selections that had been flying low on my radar was, No One Lives, the new film from director Ryuhei Kitamura (Versus, Midnight Meat Train) starring Luke Evans. I’m still not quite sure what to make of it, but the imagery is slightly intriguing.

From the director of Versus and The Midnight Meat Train, No One Lives is a smart and original horror movie with, at its heart, a killer in the grip of a dark and twisted love affair. A ruthless criminal gang takes a young couple hostage and goes to ground in an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere. When the captive girl is killed, the tables are unexpectedly turned. The gang finds itself outsmarted by an urbane and seasoned killer determined to ensure that no one lives. Featuring Luke Evans, Adelaide Clemens, Derek Magyar, Lee Tergesen and America Olivo.

The First Pics From ‘Schism’ Feature Vinnie Jones Doing What He Does Best!

After wrapping up its New Orleans shoot earlier this year, Schism has released its first batch of stills. And at least one of these features star Vinnie Jones (Snatch, Midnight Meat Train) doing some menacing sh*t in a very Vinnie Jones way.

As previously announced on Bloody back in October, Schism was written by Adam Gierasch and his partner Jace Anderson (both who teamed for Night of the Demons and Autopsy), with Gierasch once again directing. Callum Blue (“Smallville”) and Ashlynn Yennie (The Human Centipede) also star in in the picture. This is a dark indie thriller in the vein of Jacob’s Ladder.

Shot on Super 16, “the film follows “Dylan White” who works as a cook in Baton Rouge. He is also in a solid relationship with his girlfriend “Brandy”. Things are great until strange events prompt him to seek out the truth about himself — following clues, Dylan discovers a dark past in New Orleans. Can he right his past wrongs and find redemption for his sins?

New Images From ‘Pacific Rim’ And ‘Resident Evil: Retribution’ Bring The Action!

The new Comic-Con issue of Entertainment Weekly has hit stands and it’s got a couple of cool looks at some of your most anticipated films from the event. First up is an image of Charlie Hunnam and Rinko Kikuchi suited up for action in Guillermo del Toro’s epic sci-fi adventure Pacific Rim.

Del Toro recently stated that the battles in the film will take place everywhere, “We take the battles far and above! Two or three of them happen in places where there have never been a battle between kaiju and robots. From the bottom of the ocean to the atmosphere of the Earth. We have a battle in a storm at sea. Every battle we try to do differently. One is seen from the point of view of a single person. We never cut away from that point of view.” With the helmets the characters are wearing in the pic I can’t exactly tell which one it will be.

Next up is another still from Resident Evil: Retribution. You’ve seen a lot form this movie but you have yet to see a close-up of one of its zombies. Problem solved!

Pacific Rim opens on July 12, 2013 while Resident Evil: Retribution is just around the corner on September 14th. Expect a lot of coverage on these guys from SDCC next week. In the meantime, head inside for the pics! READ MORE

From producer Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) comes Justin Dix’s Crawlspace, which stars Ditch Davey, Peta Sargeant, John Brumpton and Leslie Simpson. It’s for sale at the forthcoming Cannes market by Arclight’s Darclight label. We had a look at the first image a week or so ago, and now five more have landed.

Penned by Eddie Baroo, Justin Dix and Adam Patrick Foster, the pic, “Follows a squad of elite soldiers sent to infiltrate and extract the lead science team from Pine Gap, Australia’s top secret underground military compound, after it comes under attack from unknown forces. The mission is compromised when they encounter a young woman with no memory of who she is or how she came to be there. As they try to escape, the group quickly discovers all is not as it seems and the facility has become a testing ground for something far more sinister.

HypnotistLand40112 First Stills From Lasse Hallstroms The Hypnotist Look Bleak

The first stills from Lasse Hallstrom’s The Hypnotist have hit the web and while they look appropriately bleak, they also look pretty good.

Mikael Persbrandt (The Hobbit), Lena Olin (The Ninth Gate, Chocolat) and Tobias Zilliacus (Iris) all star in the film with Persbrandt playing Detective Linna who, “investigates a grisly triple homicide where the only survivor, a young boy, is too traumatized to testify. The film “is the first in a planned series of eight Joona Linna novels from Lars Kepler – a pseudonym for Swedish husband and wife authors Alexander Ahndoril and Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril. The third novel in the series was recently published in Sweden. Svensk and Sonet have optioned all eight books in the series for feature adaptations.
